Both only recently released on DVD, 1955’s “Blood Alley” and “The Sea Accelerate” are now available together in a single package, at a very affordable label. Each film offers a idea of John Wayne’s film work away from the western genre, and are fascinating, if not entirely successful, ‘period’ adventure tales.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Blood Alley / Sea Chase! Click Here

The older of the pair, “The Sea Glide”, has a novelty value uniquely its contain, as the Duke plays a GERMAN sea captain, at the originate of WWII! A decorated weak of WWI, Wayne hates Hitler and the Nazis, but when ordered to return his freighter and crew to home port, he feels honor-bound to comply, despite a British mandate to ’stand down’. Joined prior to departure by a mysterious recognize (Lana Turner, in her only teaming with the Duke), Wayne gets his mature ship out of the harbor, and is hasty pursued by a British force, headed by his extinct friend, Commander Jeff Napier (David Farrar) . The myth becomes a cat-and-mouse yarn, as the freighter attempts to elude British sea power, and approach Germany, safely.

Produced and directed by John Farrow (who had directed Wayne in 1953’s “Hondo”), “The Sea Wobble”, despite earnest performances, never really builds remarkable suspense, and there is a marked lack of chemistry between Wayne and Turner, which sabotages their romantic scenes. Level-headed, the cast includes young Tab Hunter, and many lifelong Wayne friends (including James Arness and Paul Fix), that helps set aside an air of camaraderie. Wayne, suffering from a severe ear infection throughout the shoot, makes no trouble to adopt a German accent or persona, which gives the film a somewhat surreal ‘feel’.

All in all, “The Sea Wander” is, at best, an inviting misfire!

Far more spellbinding and successful, “Blood Alley”, director ‘Wild Bill’ Wellman’s final collaboration with Wayne (preceded by “Island in the Sky” and “The High and the Great”), is not only a rip-roaring ’sea chase’ adventure, but another of Wayne’s many films endorsing his conservative political ideology. Produced by Wayne, himself (who’d initially hoped to acquire Robert Mitchum or Humphrey Bogart for the lead), this memoir of a sea captain, rescued from the Communist Chinese to transport an entire Chinese village to safety on a old-fashioned steam ship, never drags.

The film has many ‘pluses’; leading lady Lauren Bacall, both magnificent and tough, has terrific chemistry with the Duke (and became a lifelong friend, co-starring in his last film, “The Shootist”, over 20 years, later) ; Wayne’s character, ‘Tom Wilder’, has equal shares of bravura and madness (he talks, frequently, to an imaginary girlfriend, created to serve him withstand being tortured), and the Duke obviously enjoyed the role; longtime friend Paul Fix, in Oriental create up, gives one of his better film performances, as a gracious worn doctor; and the film is extremely well paced, with tension building as the Communists relentlessly pursue the runt ship. On the negative side, the politics are stridently right-wing, some of the Chinese characters are stereotypes, and several definitely non-Oriental actors have key ‘Chinese’ roles (including Mike Mazurki, and an unrecognizable but certainly not Chinese Anita Ekberg) . Nonetheless, after fifty years, the film continues to ‘hold up’ as a very racy adventure!

At a ‘budget’ impress, this double feature is certainly worth including in your ‘John Wayne’ collection!

Blood Alley is a myth place in a period of time in Chinas past where the people often took sizable risks to survive. And with John Wayne and Lauren Bacall as the leads the memoir cannot relieve but be satisfactory! Becall was far better than she was ever given credit for being. And plays a character that is quite believable. The Sea Gallop is a naval anecdote station at the beginning of WWII. There is action, drama, intrigue, betrayal, and romance in the legend place on a German vessel that inot what one would deem of as a ship of war. Both movies are well worth the tag alone but you rep both.

Meet the Numbers is a very clever DVD that taught my 21 month used son to scrutinize numbers zero through 10 and to count. He watched Meet the Letters for three weeks and learned ALL of the letters of the alphabet. He began to point at letters everywhere we would go but would become frustrated when he saw number characters. I bought Meet the Numbers and within 2 days he knew numbers too! The first part of the video is designed for children to learn number names. The number characters only say their acquire name while they are doing something that has to do with that number. For example, “zero” blows bubbles that pop before they beget. This is such a clever device to portray zero! “One” rides a unicycle, and “two” blows out two birthday candles. The second fragment of the video is the counting portion. Each character counts to accumulate to their number. When my son counts he always imitates the characters voices. The third portion gives the kids a chance to test what they have learned. A series of familiar objects appear and the child counts out loud. Then the number character pops up on the cloak. The video ends with a counting segment that my son wants to peer over and over again. I showed this video to my preschool and now they explain it in all of their classes along with Meet the Letters. I only wish these videos were available when my first two children where toddlers.

My daughter was 20 months traditional when I bought this video and I wasn’t even thinking about teaching her number character recognition yet. I bought Meet the Letters and she learned ALL of her upper and lowercase letters in less than 2 weeks so of course I bought all of the other videos that Preschool Prep Company makes. It is as if she had 3 years of preschool in one month. I didn’t assume that I would be able to pry her away from Meet the Letters because it was the only video that she would observe and she would literally wail when I tried to attach other shows on. Since this video was made using the familiar format that she loved from Meet the Letters she was so indignant to observe it and the astounding fragment was that she learned numbers zero to ten after watching the DVD twice! I wouldn’t have believed it but I saw how lickety-split she learned letters so I was enthralling how rapid she would learn numbers and distinct enough, we were at a store and they had numbers hanging in the isles and I pointed at each and asked her what they were and she shouted them out with the most incredible enthusiasm. I recommend Meet the Shapes and Meet the Colors too. Meet the Colors is now her current of the Preschool Prep Series (I esteem it too!) . I saw the series recommended in both the Child Magazine and Wondertime Magazine holiday gift guides. I also saw them mentioned in American Baby. I am so cheerful to peek that they are getting all of the accolades that they deserve!

Note: For those who have not seen the film, there are no “spoilers” in the review. The situation details I list have miniature to do with the focus of the epic aside from providing exposition.

Buy,Download, Or Stream District 9! Click Here

“District 9″ is one of those rare gems that immediately immerses you in its world. Beginning in media res with stark images of a massive spacecraft hovering over Johannesburg, the audience expeditiously discovers it’s been there for over thirty years by the time our epic picks up. For months after the craft appeared the Earth waited for a response. When none came, the decision was made to send special teams to board the vessel and finally come by some answers. What they got, instead, were more questions.

The aliens inside were malnourished, unhealthy and their intelligence appeared to be below that of most humans. Labeled “prawns” due to their appearance, the aliens were removed from the ship and placed into a temporary encampment known as District 9, which has expeditiously deteriorated into an outright slum. Enter Wikus van der Merwe, a seemingly naive yet likeable fellow employed with Multinational United (M.N.U.), the pseudo-U.N. organization tasked with handling the prawns. He’s honest received a promotion and is ordered to relocate the prawns to a newer camp spot up in an situation more isolated from humanity.

Buy,Download, Or Stream District 9! Click Here

While the scope of “District 9″ seems initially tale, the film wisely follows a very focused record centered on Wikus and a prawn known as Christopher. As the sage unfolds, the development of these characters is outstanding – particularly for an action-oriented film. A lesser film would’ve transformed Wikus into a more compassionate person as the events transpired, perhaps even culiminating into some sort of freedom fighter for the prawns. With this film, however, we’re finally presented with a very accurate, very flawed character.

Even at his best, Wikus is a wholly self-serving individual and stands as a damning indictment of humanity as a whole. His most selfless act in the film is tempered by the fact that it’s unexcited in his best interests to do so. Christopher is, ironically, the most human character here and is unquestionably the most deserving of sympathy. Yet it’s challenging to tag how many peaceful reflect Wikus is the moral victim of it all. Glimpse how cunningly manipulative Wikus is when he’s attempting to evict the prawns. His demeanor is slick and polished. He uses bribes, lies, and outright threats against them – not to mention the intimidating image of armed soldiers and armored vehicles surrounding the prawns.

The documentary format in which the film is shot is a phenomenal aspect and one which is very unusual and innovative. Technically this technique has been former before, but it’s typically in something like a Christopher Guest comedy and nothing substantially riveting aside from humor. Some have critiqued this film for dropping the documentary style mid-way through and becoming a more action-oriented film. However, had they paid closer attention, the reason for this is quite evident. It’s made sure at the beginning of the film that the persons providing the commentary have no concept what happened to Wikus, or indeed what really happened in District 9. M.N.U. predictably covered it all up and only the audience is privy to what really occured. Their commentary mid-way through the film would’ve been precisely what it is at the ruin – mere conjecture and thus useless to the audience.

Further, some have felt the film draws spacious position elements from a myriad of other films such as Enemy Mine, Robocop, or Alien Nation. This can hardly be a criticism, because “District 9″ incorporates elements from these films in only the broadest sense possible. It’s akin to declaring that American History X is influenced by To End a Mockingbird or Hart’s War is influenced by The Vast Hasten. While there may be a modicum of truth to this, the respective narratives are great too wildly divergent to be categorized in this manner. I can agree, however, that it seems very unlikely (even for a science fiction film) that the fuel/fluid could compose both the uses it does in the film. Unexcited, this status method provides an first-rate catalyst for what transpires and is entirely forgiveable.

I’ve read some critics possess the themes are a bit on the nose, and while I definitely concur that occasionally a subtle route is best, “District 9″ is so thematically rich and the epic is complex enough that this rings as a hollow criticism. “District 9″ is, on the surface, an action film. Yet this film has more to say about human nature than any film in years. If this weren’t so, how else could a film about alien creatures on Earth feel so precise?

The polarizing opinions and wildly diverse interpretations of this film are precisely what writer/director Neill Blomkamp was aiming for. It’s been labeled as both a shiny allegory of apartheid and of the Iraqi war, it’s been accused of somehow being a ‘racist’ film, while others simply recognize it as violently offensive rubbish. Many gape “District 9″ and cannot peep the forest for the trees, they simply cannot sight past the gore and violence to the core of the film. Further, they want the film to provide answers and solutions, when the truth they’re unable to face is that there are no viable solutions.

These absorbing debates, in a sense, mirror the ones in the film concerning the handling and treatment of the prawns. Ultimately, whether you like or hate this film, it’ll almost certainly have you talking about it for days afterwards. This can be credited to the fact that, once the smoke clears, there is a very actual beating heart at the center of “District 9″ (provided you’re able to view beneath the surface) . In the slay, these are the right marks of a lasting, significant film.

Just watched the movie at the opening night and I am spellbound! Firstly, I am living in Johannesburg and was absolutely amazed at many a subtle hints and glances at history this movie gave. There were too many moments that only living in Johannesburg will develop one truly understand what the director was hinting at, and all done and keep together brilliantly in a draw I haven’t seen done great before. Secondly, I simply loved the method Neil (btw never heard of him before) didn’t conform to the worn and all too cliched Hollywood sci-fi recipe, and wasn’t afraid of breaking lots of Hollywood cinema ‘laws’. Alien ships always land somewhere in the US, aliens are always here to extinguish us with no reason, we always are the experts in solving any issues in the extinguish – none of these were followed. I read some reviews of the film being too racist, xenophobic, sexist etc. which were issues that I bear the director was actually trying to highlight to us, rather than capitalise on them. And these are steady issues well and alive in many countries outside of South Africa, not certain why people pretend to inspect past and overlook them as if life is all perfect. In conclusion, a very thought-provoking movie for me that combines big elements of sci-fi action and storytelling – and maybe the message is, sometimes to be human again we have to believe like and become alien.

One of the finest films of all time, directed by Fred ( High Noon, From Here to Eternity ) Zinnemann. Among the ensemble of players are Wendy Hiller, Orson Welles, Susanna York, Robert Shaw, Leo Mc Kern and–in one of his earliest roles–a young John Damage. Truly a cast for all seasons!

It’s an acting lesson, headed by the enormous Paul Scofield who not only captures the essence of Sir Thomas Moore, but who does so with reliable economy of motion; he hardly makes a gesture thoughout the entire film— Duse would have loved it.

How does he do it? Well, as I said, it’s an acting lesson. Suffice it to say he rightly deserved winning the Oscar.

Robert Bolt’s bright play is a peek of contrasts with a mystery at the heart of the theme: Was Moore a Saint who is now in Heaven with The Blessed, or was he a fool who could have died in his bed at a ripe stale age after a lifetime of domestic felicity and the highest honors his country could bestow upon him?

If there is no God, or if you possess that the conflict between The Anglican and Catholic Churches to be of no paramount importance, is your integrity detached worth losing your head on the chopping block?

Hmm. . .

Magnificent in every respect.

I have loved this movie since I saw it in its recent release too many years ago. Certainly, Sir Thomas More was a glowing person who died a martyr and has been canonized a saint. However, don’t confuse the play and movie with the flesh and blood man. He was worthy more complex in valid life than the purely obliging performance of Paul Scofield. You can read the biography of Thomas More by Peter Ackroyd to acquire at some of his complexities.

But this is a fabulous movie and I recommend it with expansive enthusiasm. It is a worthy movie and can have some useful at least temporary curative achieve on the soul suffering under the ironical detachment and cynicism of our time. Scofield is fantastic and the definitive performance of this role. Orson Welles is quite special as the fat and scandalous Cardinal Wolsey. John Distress is apt as the traitor Richard Rich. Shaw is aesthetic as Henry VIII as is the rest of the cast.

And who can forget the line where More asks to examine chain of office that Richard Rich was given to perjure himself and betray More. After examining it and being told that Sir Richard was made the Attorney General of Wales More says, “Richard, it profits a man nothing to trade his soul for the whole world, but for Wales …” Fantastic stuff.

The disk offers the wide cloak theatrical release and a fat veil version for those who like to watch less of the characterize in order to avoid the upper and lower “bars”. There is also the new trailer.

There are no other features on the disk beyond scene selection.

This disk belongs in every collection and should be reviewed regularly as an healthful tonic to succor remedy the bilious nihilism of our age.

This station fully completes my Gundam Seed anime series area since I’ve already gotten the previous two box sets and the first Gundam Seed Destiny box status which I’m truly gratified for since some of Bandai’s current choices of which sets to release and which to outright execute(Zegapain being one of them) . The series is hard to follow though if you’ve never seen the beginning of the GS universe and the stories of the characters so I’d grunt watching the series from the very beginning to understand what is really going on, like most of the Gundam universe series this exhibit seems to mostly stress the drawl stupidity and futility of wars. If you inspect at the various fighting sides you’ll witness they all seem to have various and seemingly unbiased reasons for what they are doing and why they are fighting but in the destroy shows how nothing will change with brute force and that it’s up to the people to willingly determine to change the intention things are without the threat or scare of oppression. The characters grow on you and you will bellow as some are killed off through the series but that in itself is what makes a astronomical series as you cheer, scream, and feel for the characters as they continue on in the display. The advise cast for both the Japanese and English actors were good on for their roles and kudos to both, the video is determined and though-provoking and the music is sizable both heart pacing and hastily very addictive as you peep the battle scenes in the series. So I say for any mecha anime or sci-fi anime fan and for the brand check out the series you’ll most likely be very entertained, and for fans of the gundam series rejoice as the final state is finally out….

Gundam Seed Destiny, though received powerful harsh criticism from fans and reviewers alike isn’t terrible by any means. If you’ve watched the series from the beginning of Seed your in shuffle for more of everything suited and abominable the series has offered and delivered. The continued assaults between Zaft and the Earth forces will come a satisfying conclusion but the tale won’t destroy there. Modern mobile suits advance and change the course of the war. Kira and the Archangel crew will finally win the top stage as the line between correct and nasty blur, heroes hold the side of the injurious and enemies from before become welcome allies for the slay. I won’t spoil the chronicle with detailed explanations though I do give a firm warning that the last episode has somewhat of a let down ending, unbiased as it doesn’t give a lot of closure. The movie Gundam Seed Destiny Final Plus is basically an extended version of the last episode with more action and epic and is a mighty more satisfying ending. Overall if you’ve enjoyed the characters, gundams, battles, and triumphs that Seed has given you so far, you’ll fancy this box residence. If you’ve felt you’ve been dragged along for a uninteresting hump that doesn’t suit your tastes, perhaps the 4 Destiny movies would be better as they give the fable without all the extra development and filler. Either map Seed Destiny is definately a fair Gundam thrill.

Compare Prices on Elizabeth

Being an owner of the unusual dvd release of Elizabeth, I wondered what the inequity was compared to the oldy. Suprisingly there is a modern digital transfer of the film itself that looks almost as pleasurable as high def. (almost) The transfer has livened the colors of the modern dvd and is far more impressive to gawk. A blooming film by a tall director as I’m distinct “Golden Age” will also be. All bonus features are the same as the former version except there is a current extra long trailer going almost 6 minutes of footage from the current movie. If you want my advice, for all of you that want to watch Elizabeth in a fresh pristine cleaned up version, this is the definitive of the latter. It’s graceful to discover a dirty jewel sparkle. A big film even with it’s inaccuracies because…what film really is legal? Movies are for entertainment and my oh my does this unique version entertain! If anything for all you waiting for the fresh movie, you can peer the trailer over and over as remarkable as you want!

Among Sizable Britain’s monarchs, two queens stand out in particular: Elizabeth I. and Queen Victoria. Both came to power at extremely young ages, and at times of political instability which would have location the odds of survival against any recent ruler, but particularly so, against a woman. Both beat those odds in ways few people would have foreseen: They not only persevered but ruled for a nearly unparalleled long time, and during their reign achieved to both strengthen England’s economy and international stance and give unusual direction to its society. We have long advance to identify their reign as “the Victorian Age” and “the Elizabethan Age,” respectively. Yet, while “Victorian England” is an expression often old synonymously with true conservativism, Elizabeth I. fostered not only the development of science but also the theater and arts; providing fertile ground for the works of Shakespeare, Marlowe and many others. (Influenced by her husband, Queen Victoria supported the exploration of unusual scientific developments, but the dominant force of her formative years as a ruler was conservative prime minister Lord Melbourne, who once advised her not to read Dickens because his books were “stout of awful subjects.”) And while Queen Victoria derived strength from her long, stable marriage to German-born Prince Albert, Elizabeth I. resisted the pressure to marry at all and became known as “the Virgin Queen.”

Buy,Download, Or Stream Elizabeth! Click Here

Looking relieve at Elizabeth’s reign, we witness less a woman than an icon; the symbol of what her rule has arrive to stand for. Shekhar Kapur’s 1998 movie explores, as the director explains in the DVD’s “Making of” feature, the making of that icon; the formative processes, influences and personalities surrounding the young princess’s ascent to the throne and her first years in power – and of course, at the center of it all, Elizabeth herself, magnificently portrayed by Cate Blanchett (who should have won the Academy Award for her performance) . The princess, as this movie sees her, certainly knew her insecurities about her role in life and in English politics, her people’s expectations, and the intrigues of her have court. But she was also, as Kapur has her announce to her protector and spymaster Walsingham, “[her] father’s daughter” – the proud, headstrong daughter of Henry VIII., who speedy learned from her mistakes and assumed fair leadership early on. Having inherited a country deeply torn in religious conflict, and having barely survived the machinations of the court of her Catholic half sister and predecessor, “Bloody” Mary I., to come by her, the “heretic,” guilty of treason and attain her, one of Elizabeth’s first acts in power was to have parliament pass the Act of Uniformity, reestablishing the Church of England formed by her father. And while she respected her Secretary of Region Sir William Cecil, she eventually came to realize that his advice was overly guided by the hope that she marry and invent an heir to earn her kingdom, and she reluctantly retired him into his space as Lord Burghley.

Indeed, there was not one single man who dominated Elizabeth’s life but several, and Kapur was able to come by an fabulous cast to surround then-newcomer Blanchett. Richard Attenborough plays Sir William Cecil with a humility and serene dignity that few besides him could have brought to the cover. Christopher Eccleston bristles as the considerable, ambitious Catholic Duke of Norfolk, that key player from the inner circle of Mary’s court who retained his space after her death and became the one member of Elizabeth’s council most hazardous to her reign. Joseph Fiennes reprises his role as a burning-eyed, attractive lover from the almost simultaneously released “Shakespeare in Like” (which, while a aesthetic movie in its beget rights, eclipsed powerful of the limelight that “Elizabeth” would so richly have deserved), playing the man most closely romantically linked to Elizabeth, “Sweet” Lord Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, whose fancy for her – at least, as this movie would have it – is ultimately his occupy undoing. “You’re composed my Elizabeth,” the erstwhile princess’s lover insists at a ball some time after her coronation. “I am no man’s Elizabeth,” the queen retorts, and affirms for all the court to hear: “I will have one mistress here, and no master!”

Buy,Download, Or Stream Elizabeth! Click Here

Most impressive of all the queen’s men is Geoffrey Rush’s portrayal as her protector, secret advisor and supreme spymaster Francis Walsingham, the creator of what distinguished later became Britain’s MI-5, whose role Speed approached, inspired by the description Kapur had given him, remarkable like the Hindu god Krishna, as “a very wise man who can slay people … while smiling,” as he explains in the DVD’s “Making of” featurette – an ability which his young, unfaithful companion in exile learns to know as grand as worthy Marie de Guise (Fanny Ardant), aunt to Elizabeth’s would-be suitor Henri d’Anjou and mother of her later rival Mary of Scots; who had refused Henry VIII.’s suit remarking “I may be mountainous in person, but my neck is minute,” only to pick up herself terminally surrendering to Walsingham’s unmatched cunning.

Key to any expansive historical movie is the authenticity of its production invent, and “Elizabeth” overflows with the rich and luxurious colors of the queen’s renaissance court and its balls, gowns and pageants. But there are also the immense, high stone halls of the palace and the royal cathedral, symbolizing the perpetuity of the monarchy reestablished by Elizabeth I. At last, when contemplating a statute of the Virgin Mary, Elizabeth wonders whether, to perpetuate her reign, she must be “made of stone;” and it is again Walsingham who answers: “Aye, Madam, to reign supreme, [because] all men … must be able to touch the divine here on earth” and as yet, “they have found nothing to replace [Mary].” And so, this movie tells us, the icon we all know was created – and like a nun married to God, a dehumanized Elizabeth reenters her council and holds out her hand to her faded Secretary of State: “Contemplate, Lord Burghley: I am married to England!”

Compare Prices on Slayers – Excellent

The name says it all on this one. This is probably the best non-TV-series Slayers release to approach out so far. It’s at least on par with the best of them: “Slayers the Motion Relate”, “Book of Spells”, and “Slayers Enormous” and a gargantuan introduction to those who haven’t yet experienced the insanity and fun of this extraordinary anime series. This DVD compiles three separate episodes of Lina and Naga adventures, including the first meeting of the two in the first yarn, “Labyrinth”. This is the strongest of the three and is worth the tag of the whole DVD by itself. This one pits Lina and Naga first against each other, and then against a vampire. Lina’s rant about the pretentious-sounding speech of vampires is an absolute riot. Second, we have “A Unsightly Future” in which Lina is hired as a bodyguard for a bad (and well-endowed) rich girl whose laugh is impartial a dinky bit too grand like Naga’s for Lina to stand. Naga shows up (of course) to drive Lina even further to the brink of insanity and some sparkling S&M humor ensues. Lastly, there is the weakest and most over-the-top of the three stories, “Lina-Chan’s Elegant Makeover Operation” which pits Lina and an extremely over-zealous formal wear fanatic against Naga and a snotty punk girl who designs unorthodox clothing. This one had a lot of potential, but fails to live up to it. Level-headed, this is one Slayers DVD you must have. The only thing missing is a Dragon-Slave. Some may argue that a Slayers episode without a Dragon-Slave is like a day without sunshine, but I assume we’ve all seen our magnificent allotment by now, haven’t we? Anyhow, we also earn a couple of tasty extras in this edition in the fabricate of two interviews: one with the adorable Cynthia Martinez (who gives her best performance ever as Lina Inverse on this DVD), and another with Kelly Manison, Naga’s english yelp. All in all, a sizable collection for both the Slayers newcomer and the broken-down otaku.

After three feature-length movies, we fetch benefit to short, half-hour O.A.V. episodes.

Finally, at long last, we accumulate to glimpse how Lina Inverse and Nahga The White Serpant first met. (In SLAYERS: THE MOTION Relate, where Nahga made her first appearence, Lina and Nahga already knew each other from sometime serve, and we were never told how they first came to meet.) We initiate in the exhibit, when Nahga destroys the inn Lina’s staying at, and destroys the meal she was about to eat as well. This triggers a flashback to when Lina first met Nahga, who was distinct to derive a reputation as the world most mighty sorceress by defeating Lina. Later the two of them are hired by some village people to ruin a vampire. (Yes, this is the only time in all of the Slayers anime where a vampire makes an appearence.)

Next, Lina is hired by a rich man to escort his teenage daughter Serena (spoken for by outmoded actor Tiffany Grant) to their vacation villa. The dilemma is that Serena has a personality and laugh quite simular to Nahga, she splurges like crazy (she even refuses to wear the same dwelling of clothing more than once and buys lots of suveners which she then expects Lina to carry,) and she slows them down greatly. Finally Lina gets sick of it so she actually hires some guys to kidnap Serena. But then Serena gets kidnapped by some different bandits, so Lina must keep her with the back of Nahga.

Finally we find to examine Lina’s last adventure with Nahga ever. Lina comes to town and finds Nahga has a current cult of teenage girl followers (led by preppy valley girl-type Marti) who judge her taste in clothing is really wintry, and Lina is jumpy by the concept of a future world where everyone dresses and acts like Nahga, so she joins up with a seemstress sorceress and her followers who want everyone to stick to formal attire to conclude Nahga and Marti and the others.

The shows are humorous, the animation is…well, satisfactory, and the pronounce actors are superb-particularly Kelly Manison, (who was born to play Nahga,) Cynthia Martinez, who had really grown into the role of Lina Inverse by the time she returned to play her in SLAYERS RETURN, and Tiffany Grant as Serena. Finally, there are the interviews mentioned in the other reviews with Miss Martinez and Miss Manison. They are almost as remarkable fun to glimpse as the episodes themselves, since it’s shapely to observe what the state actors gaze like and observe them allege as themselves and hear what they believe of the shows and the characters. A sizable DVD to have.

I bear that the 1950 Disney adaption of the fairy story by Charles Perrault is one of the most well-liked Disney movies released since 1937. This movie is humorous, gloomy, and charming at the same time, which may sound impossible for some movies.

I have watched this movie since I was 2, and I am now 12, and let me assure you that after 10 years, you never catch tired of it. I have the Masterpiece copy on this page, and it is very, very traditional out, so I cannot wait for Disney to re-release this classic on Disney VHS and DVD in 2007, so I can pick it and technically come by my hands on it! :)

Anyway, this movie is about a girl named Cinderella, who’s father and mother have both died. She is forced to live with her vain and homely stepsisters and cruel stepmother, and furthermore is forced to become a slave in her absorb home.

Cinderella’s only friends are the steady mice, the birds, the dog an also the horse. One day, an invatation arrives from the palace, stating that every eligible maiden in the kingdom has to assist to a royal ball, honoring the return of the prince.

Cinderella’s stepmother lies to her, saying she can go only if she gets her chores done, and if she finds something kindly to wear.

She does all her chores, while her animal friends effect a dress for her. Sadly, the stepsisters toddle it up, and leave. However, Cinderella meets her Fairy Godmother, who sends her off to the ball, but she has to be relieve before the stroke of midnight, otherwise, the spell will be broke…

Enjoy this Disney masterpiece once again, which proves that dreams can approach suitable.

In an concern to revive his sagging animation department, Walt Disney turned once again to a fairy record. This time around, he chose one of the best known and oldest of them all, Cinderella.

The chronicle is familiar. A blooming girl is abused by her stepmother and stepsisters and forced to work as their slave. When a ball is given for all the eligible maidens in the kingdom, Cinderella dreams of going too, only to have her hopes dashed at the last itsy-bitsy. With a gift of magic, she is able to go, but only until the stroke of midnight.

The yarn is so well known, if fact, that any memoir about an underdog coming from gradual and winning is called a Cinderella legend. Disney’s job here was to create the memoir spirited for 75 minutes. The solution here was creating the animals. Mice Jaq and Gus and their constant struggle against the improper cat Lucifer is humorous and tying this sub-plot to the ultimate outcome is bright. The other standout character is the stepmother who is frighteningly infamous with no desirable powers.

As with any Disney movie, this one also has immense songs. Arguably the best known is “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo.” Proper slow it is “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.” My approved, however, is the often overlooked like song “So This is Cherish.”

While not the best release in the Platinum series, it aloof stacks up well. The movie has been restored, and it looks ample to me. I’m not a nitpicker, but I can’t gain any problems with the paunchy frame narrate, the modern aspect ratio. There is an enhanced 5.1 home theater mix, which doesn’t seem quite as impressive as some other releases. It seems more like the sound coming equally from all speakers. Of course, given the age of the film, there probably isn’t powerful more they could do. For purists, there is an recent soundtrack on the disc as well.

The extras in this place seem to be split between vow for kids and adults, with the kids winning. Disc one includes a unique version of “A Dream is a Wish” with the stars of several Disney Channel series. It also has several “Cinderella stories” in sports moments, a irregular feature to me. Disc two includes several features about living like a princess.

Also on disc two are the bonus features adult fans of this movie will want to search for. There are two “deleted scenes,” which are really abandoned songs with the storyboards created for them. In edition there are more abandoned songs with no storyboards on here. It’s magnificent attractive watching how various ideas went from one fabricate to another before finally making it into the movie. Other extras include a thirty-eight shrimp documentary about the creation of the explain, including achieved interviews with the animators slack the explain. We are also treated to an overview of how the movie progressed over the years it was in development, a tribute to the “Nine Primitive Men,” Disney’s “Laugh-O-Gram” version of the record from 1922, and radio promotion from the time. I was thrilled to look trailers from the movie’s multiple releases here. Unfortunately, there is no commentary in glimpse.

This Platinum DVD release means that all of Disney’s spirited movies have been assign on DVD at some point in the last few years. While the Platinum series isn’t quite as nice for adult fans as they faded to be, this is collected a release that fans of the movie will want to steal up.

First off, I enjoyed the film because of it’s setup. The locations were pleasurable (my grandparents cease in Algonac, Michigan, so seeing portions of that and Detroit in the movie are awesome.) I also idea the casting was helpful too; you didn’t loathe Rourke despite the fact that he was a violent person and Levitt’s character was one you LOVED to loathe. The movie was intense but not entirely predictable like most action films are. In the demolish, you have a movie that feels like an action-romance epic that could be equally bewitching as either or despite how violent the movie is.

What bums me out is what we didn’t peruse in the film. The film wrapped post-production up in 2006(!!!) but didn’t procure to observe the a wide release because many felt the narrative was confusing (and it can be at times; but this is a movie that’s meant to watched twice.) This lead to any and all scenes interesting Johnny Knoxville (who played the role of a Deputy) to be removed from the film entirely. I would have loved to have seen the uncut version of this film but for continuity purposes, this is the film that was provided to us.

All and all though, it’s calm one that’s worth checking out and recommended to people who’d want to gawk what an action/romance film would scrutinize like.

Armand “Blackgird” Degas (Rourke) is a hitman for the Toronto mafia. When his dedication to the job brings about the wrath of his employers, he falls in with Richie Nix (Gordon-Levitt), a two-time crook who’s a bit too anxious for his beget first-rate. When they try one of Nix’s many extortion schemes, they urge into struggling couple Wayne and Carmen Colson (Jane and Lane) . Degas is positive to let no one who sees his face live. Wayne and Carmen going into protective custody isn’t about to discontinuance that.

KILLSHOT is a perfectly decent thriller, with a astounding premise that, though not wholly believable, is at least provocative and modern. I haven’t read the unusual yet, though I thought to do so; I have a feeling the current (written by the noted Elmore Leonard) explores the thematic potentials more fully than the film, which at times feels like a mish-mash of scenes rather than one solid whole. (This can be blamed on the long delay; I first saw previews for KILLSHOT years–literally years–ago.) The script itself is fairly solid, except for a few cliched lines of dialogue; there are a few superb surprises, and even some damned-fine humor and action sequences.

Thomas Jane is solid as usual (I won’t say “always;” he’s had some clunker roles in the past, though it’s usually the film’s fault and not his), and Diane Lane manages to capture quite a few scenes. Overall, though, the film rests squarely on the ample shoulders of Mickey Rourke, who is delightfully atrocious, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is overly campy and thoroughly scrumptious. The interaction between the two isn’t quite fleshed out like it should be (and their relationship isn’t at all believable; a pro like Degas would never hook up with a small-time punk like Nix, no matter how considerable the latter resembles the former’s deceased kid brother), but each actor holds his gain in different ways: Rourke shows his mastery of restraint (behold THE WRESTLER for another example of this talent, albeit under extremely different circumstances), and Gordon-Levitt has one hell of a obliging time camping it up, letting his character’s long hair and unjustified ego wing.

KILLSHOT isn’t quite what it could have been, but it’s smooth a solid film that’s worth a witness or two. It’s fast and suspenseful; if you can overlook some of its logistics errors, it’s an consuming thriller that offers some solid acting and an racy situation.
