I heard this DVD was to be released at its 20th Anniversary Special Edition on local radio on 104.3 FM in LA. They played the song on Friday, Jan. 29, 2005 before its re-release for a DVD. I went lawful away and found at the local Best Take store for a colossal mark.

I loved this song and I remembered that I was 14 at the time of its release on cassette and LP records. It was for a colossal cause and United for song of hope. The colossal popstars came out to raise their voices to back Africa’s hungry. I was looking for a CD re-release of the song. They should re-release as a CD single. So far you can choose the title song online for resonable mark as a MP3 file like Itunes.

I have study the documentary on DVD and it tells who wrote the songs, who the stars that participated in it, and who sang all the parts of the song with solos and the entire group.

The song was written by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson.

The 2 disc DVD site comes with collectible insert booklet, which contains the history of how the night of Jan 28, 1985 how the song was made with all the stars. The booklet also contains the lyrics of the song and portray of the group and where the stars stood in the group (like Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Cydie Lauper, Diana Ross, Diane Warwick, Kenny Rogers, Bruce Springstein, Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Billy Joel, Bette Midler, Janet Jackson, etc up to 45 stars) for the memorable song.

1st Disc includes the documentary by Jane Fonda and the Music Video of the We Are The World Song conducted by Quincy Jones.

2nd Disc contains the extras, history and documentary, and places where the song ws played like 10th anniversary “one song, many hands”, American Music Awards, 28th Grammy awards, “Live Assist” footage from ABC, etc. and Karaoke track of the song too.

It well worth the note this song that makes history and manufacture for a ample cause, USA For Africa organization unexcited is around to befriend out for hunger and AIDS 20 years later. The proceeds of this DVD goes to the USA For Africa organization. Enormous! If you like Mammoth Music and Sizable Stars near for a proper cause, it’s a sizable share of history with this song “WE Are the World” and how it all began. This DVD is for you and for your children to remember.

The Stars should execute a DVD or CD of a novel song for the Tsunami victims in Asia with today’s pop artists with yesterday’s pop and rock artists too.

I must admit, the reason I ordered this 20th Anniversary DVD was to peruse Cyndi Lauper, Bruce Springsteen, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross–all in the same room again. They are all fantastic talents, that checked their “egos at the door,” that night benefit in 1985. They were there along with a number of other singers, to support a nation of starving people have a chance at life. There are some priceless outtakes of the tedious Ray Charles, Stevie, Cyndi and Bruce that had me thoroughly entertained. This is definitely worth buying. I maintain a allotment of the money from Amazon will be going to the Tsunami Relief fund and other satisfactory charities.

I’ve always loved Branagh. From the moment he made film history with HENRY V (by being the first person since Orson Welles to win Oscar nominations for both actor and director for the same film) to the light touch he brough to his disclose acting in the enchanting ROAD TO EL DORADO, he has always been a approved.

But–a film musical based on one of Shakespeare’s least-important works? Region in the leisurely 1930’s no less? Sounds almost as abominable an opinion as MOULIN ROUGE. Intrigued, we rented the film from Netflix.

AND FELL IN Like. Who cares about the chop-job he did on the “sacred” text? Who cares about the lack of advise in some of his singers? What we watched was a film that made us smile from the opening credits all the plot through the final act.

Set aside your preconceptions about what a Shakespeare film should be. Site aside your ideas about what a musical should examine like. Delight In the fun of the film, the glamour of its costuming, its very likable cast. When most movies try to be either extravaganzas or “serious,” it’s nice to have Mr. Branagh and company give us something that does exactly what it sets out to do: give you a very capable entertainment.

This film was not widely released, but being an avid Branagh fan I made a rush to go gawk it, hoping it would become a well-liked like his earlier film, Considerable Ado About Nothing. Alas, this was not the case. Although very cute, I felt like I was watching a high school drama production -mind you, a very helpful one- but I didn’t judge it was as up to par as some of his earlier films. The movie definitely does have a feeling of a MGM musical (I believe that’s what they were going for) and the songs are aged favorites by Cole Porter, the Gershwins, and Irving Berlin. Amazingly enough, the actors mumble, and quite well. Adrian Lester (previously seen in Famous Colors) has a gargantuan whisper and was the best dancer in the cast. At times I felt that Alicia Silverstone (The Princess) seemed a dinky too southern California for Shakespeare, but even she began to grow on me during the movie.

Love’s Labour’s Lost is one of the Bard’s lesser known plays and is very easy to understand. Although I seemed to rip on the movie, I truly did delight in it. It’s a light comedy, and even though it’s Shakespeare, it won’t have you scambling for your Cliffs Notes. A must contemplate for fans of the Bard and musical lovers alike!

In 1994, Wolfgang Petersen directed the film adaptation of the German unusual “Die Unendliche Geschichte”, which was written by Michael Ende (1929-1995) . The film/novel is better known in the U.S. with its English title of “The Neverending Memoir”. It was also the first film that Wolfgang Petersen filmed in English. The legend begins with a disquieted boy named Bastian (Barret Oliver), who is being raised by his father (Gerald McRaney) . An avid reader with an active imagination, Bastian walks into a faded bookstore owned by Mr. Koreander (Thomas Hill) and finds a mysterious book that captures his curiosity. Mr. Koreander seemingly doesn’t want to sell the book to him, but Bastian manages to hasten from the store with book in hand. Bastian takes the book to school with him, where he is tormented by three bullies (Drum Garrett, Darryl Cooksey & Nicholas Gilbert) . To avoid the bullies, Bastian finds refuge in a rarely-used attic within the school and begins to read from the book about a magical land called Fantasia. Fantasia is a fantastic spot with many new characters and is ruled by the Childlike Princess (Tami Stronach), but something bad is happening to Fantasia as parts of it are disappearing by an unknown force referred to only as “the nothing”. The Childlike Princess calls upon the strongest warrior to earn a human child to close “the nothing”. The warrior, a boy named Atreyu (Noah Hathaway) of a tribe similar to Native Americans, takes the protective signet that the Childlike Princess gives to him and sets off to come by a human child, which can only be found beyond the bounds of Fantasia. To his astonishment, as Bastian reads the book and the many adventures, challenges and dangers and Atreyu faces, Bastian slowly begins to realize whom Atreyu and the Childlike Princess are actually seeking.

With imaginative characters, qualified cinematography & special effects and an endearing & well-written legend, “The Neverending Sage” is a improbable and lively film that not only captures Bastian’s imagination in the anecdote, but the audience’s imagination as well. Other memorable characters in the film include Teeny Weeny (Deep Roy), Night Hob (Tilo Prückner), Cairon (Moses Gunn), Engywook (Sydney Bromley), Urgl (Patricia Hayes), Falkor (scream of Alan Oppenheimer), Rock Biter, the Racing Snail and the Bat. Overall, I rate “The Neverending Fable” with 5 out of 5 stars and very highly recommend it to both young & broken-down alike. It’s a fabulous film that can be watched time and again without becoming dumb. Sadly, the film’s two sequels (produced in 1990 & 1994) were far less memorable. Other films directed by Wolfgang Petersen include “Das Boot” (1981), “Enemy Mine” (1985), “The Perfect Storm” (2000) and “Troy” (2004) .

Like so many other reviewers, I watched this as a petite child. My kindergarten teacher unprejudiced loved it. At the time, I found it obnoxious, murky and scary. (I was a VERY wimpy movie watcher, Raiders of the Lost Ark sent me into hysterics)

Years later, I decided to bite the bullet and try it again. I found it to be a sparkling pure fantasy with (for the time) mountainous special effects and superb music. Let’s face it, you either savor electronic fantasy scores or you loathe them, there’s no valid middle ground.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The NeverEnding Story! Click Here

That said, I do reflect that this movie is too scary for microscopic children, parents should spend their gain experience and knowledge to choose when their child is ready. (That is what the PG means)

This is the account of a sensitive child who finds himself being absorbed into the magical book he is reading, called the Neverending Fable. (That is where the movie gets its name, the record is different for each person, thus it never ends. There was no ripoff) Dragons, monsters and comely images dance in his head as he slowly realizes that the characters in the book are talking to him.

The movie is based on a German current of the same name by Michael Ende. (a master of surrealist fairy tales for grown ups) Yes, the book is better and yes, the movie only takes the first half of the book. But really, isn’t it better to occupy the first half mostly intact rather than try to cram in every single scene and totally alienate all viewers? What this book really needs is a miniseries but until then, this movie is gargantuan.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The NeverEnding Story! Click Here

Two other questions raised were what was the name Bastion yelled. Moonchild, and it wasn’t his mother’s name in the book (though it is possible if she were a hippy ‘_’) The second expect was about the attic. AS the book was written by a German, one may presume that some German schools have attics. Or maybe it was objective another fairy memoir element added to do the account more surreal. (Attics always seem to figure into fairy tales) either method, it is a relatively itsy-bitsy thing to distress about.

This is a very ravishing example of 80s fantasy, it has a gracious message and if you or your children are not easily terrified, it is a very worthy movie on a rainy day. As an owner of 186 books all I can say is notice the movie, savour the book.

Get aroused JAG fans, Season 1 has been confirmed by Paramount Home Entertainment as due for release on July 25th.

Season 1 ran on NBC and had the usual slightly rocky beginnings. It was cancelled by NBC and CBS picked it up and ran for another 9 seasons. The recent partner to Distress was Lt. Kate Pike, but there was never a dependable romantic tension and Kate was phased out rather mercurial. Afflict was later joined by Lt j.g Meg Austin (Tracey Needham), whose blond obliging looks and soft sing matched her well as Harm’s main partner for Seasons 1. Also Commander Alison Krenick(Andrea Thompson) was added to the JAG staff. Tough as nails but silkily seductive, Krenick added a third possibility to the will they or won’t they relationship between Wound and Meg. Several future characters appear in Season 1 including Bud Roberts, Jr and Capt Boone, the CAG, and Annie Pendry. Ollie North has a guest cameo.

The box station will accelerate the two share pilot and all regular season episodes. Extras include at least one commentary by Bellisario and several interviews. Box art looks titanic!!! There is some debate over whether Skeleton Crew, with the irascible first appearance of Catherine Bell as Harm’s traditional girlfriend in a cameo, would be included in the region since it never aired officially in Season 1 due to NBC’s cancellation.(though it did air overseas and on USA) It was this episode that was incorporated as a flashback when Catherine Bell first appeared in Season 2 as Mac MacKenzie. No word on this episode yet, but I will update when I hear more.

Season 1 sets up the greatness of Season 2, which formally pairs Mac and Wound under Admiral Chegwidden, brings in Bud and Harriet, and everyone’s accepted CIA agent Clayton Webb, and becomes the JAG we all appreciate so remarkable. JAG is on the catapult for a July 25th start. Time to win enraged!!!!

I hesitated adding my review to the gigantic majority of gargantuan reviews. I have been so frustrated for many years that JAG has not previously been released on DVD! In a culture where television programs that should never have been aired to open with are released after only one season while they are serene in production, it is beyond comprehesion why the first season of a ten year note the quality of JAG won’t be released until well more than a year after the series ending!

Upon email observe from Amazon that JAG will be released July 23, I did two things. I first contacted my wife to let her know that mountainous news (she is as noteworthy a fan of the exhibit as I), and then preordered it! I cannot wait until it arrives.

Why do those who settle what is released on DVD assume JAG ran for ten seasons? It is a high quality demonstrate based around lead characters that have high integrity, professionalism, esteem of country and pride in what they do! The colossal blend of vivid legend lines, action, drama and rich characterization compose it compelling. The character’s backstories are well developed and continue through successive seasons.

Unlike one reviewer, I found season one to be a huge season even though the expose was trying to accumulate its formula. It found its niche and I personally enjoyed the character of Meg Austin. She was a respectable, solid lawyer who knew her job and kept her cherish for Damage from interfering with her work; but the tension was unbiased under the surface. I would have enjoyed periodic return spots of Meg as they did with other characters on occasion.

The fabulous development of the relationship between Afflict and Mac is that they did actually earn first a strong professional respect for one another, which blossomed into a proper solid friendship. Since the very best marriages are founded upon steady friendship first (above sexual attraction, approved interests, etc.), while the writers and producers wouldn’t allow the two leads to commit to marry until the final episode of the series, the fans are left with the assurance that Wound and Mac will really earn it. (Hope this wasn’t a “spoiler” for anyone who wasn’t aware of the final episode!)

I knew instantly that season ten would be the final season as soon as I learned that Belisario had not offered David James Elliot a contract renewal (his contract ended with season ten) . It was rumored David James Elliot had a modern prove pilot being developed with another network for the following season – I’m sorry that evidently didn’t happen, unless I honest missed it. CBS and Belisario’s attempt to effect in a younger male lead character during that final season to try and attract a younger audience was humorous. The character introduced was a total jerk and could never have been powerful of an attraction. Had they tried to continue JAG without Harmon Rabb, it surely would have been canceled midseason if CBS hadn’t ended it when they did. JAG would NEVER have worked without Afflict! It is the characters as well as the stories that fans loved!

I would strongly help every JAG fan to immediately steal this first season even if you feel, as some evidently do, the series “really started” in season two. Since Paramount was so reluctant to release a quality exhibit like JAG to initiate with, if sales are not solid and strong they may not release future seasons. I hope the subsequent seasons’ releases will be a matter of mere months apart, rather than a year between releases. Our budget for such purchases is miniature, but I intend on purchasing every season as it is released.

The only reason to capture this is for the cold dvd art. Nothing else.

Maybe one day we’ll watch a special edition dvd worth buying. Until then, don’t double dip on this one.

The dependable movie is fabulous fun. A crazy, zany, hokey and totally gripping movie with the ultimate fear host – Vincent Note – giving us one of his many, many stout performances. I like this movie!

But this particular 50th Anniversay Special Edition is NOT special in the least. It is a rip-off. And your host for this DVD is Johnny Anecdote who is NO “narrative” in my book, as far as his absurd participation in this release is concerned.

The extras are as flimsy as the plausability of the movie’s plotline. But wherein the film’s plot-holes are forgiveable fun, the Extras on this DVD are an embarassment. They sound like they’d be stout – but they are not. “Return to the House” features a few mute contemporary shots of the Frank Loyld Wright house as it looks today and then Myth talking about the house in front of a chain-link fence. He could be in front of any chain-link fence…for we don’t even survey the noted house leisurely him! We never learn who owns the house now or what it is currently weak for. We never score on the grounds with the camera and capture a closer perceive at the house.

“Surprise William Castle TV Set” shows the lead-in to a game note created by Castle – but unprejudiced when I notion we’d score to gape the whole reveal (which had a most sharp premise and panelists including Groucho Marx) …honest when I reflect we’ll stare the mystery-themed game exhibit, the featurette ends!

The “Carole Ohmart Profile” talks more about her role in “Spider Baby” then in “House” and ends without us ever finding out what happened to her ultimately. What could have been a bit more of her performance in “The Spectre of Edgar Allan Poe” is, instead, fair a two second clip of the older actress turning her head, not even speaking a line from that movie.

The Vincent Heed extras are fun to see: but Mr. Heed is always fun!

The DVD has NO chapter stops and the title credits are off with “Raunchy Tonk Production” on the shroud and the credit title has “50th Anniversary Special Edition” stamped beneath the film title. I am a purist and despised these liberties.

There are no commentaries, no making of featurette, zilch. As for it being declared a “Stamp Fresh Widescreen Transfer” I doubt it. It looked no different from some other versions I have.

Save your money – and what a tawdry plan to celebrate a 50th anniversary for a classic flick!

Pushover nice guy/dweeb Steve Barker (Johnny Knoxville) has to come up with $28,000 to cover the cost of his lawnmower’s medical bills. His uncle, who is in serious gambling debt, hits upon the very questionable idea of passing Steve off as retarted, thus qualifying him to compete in the Special Olympics. The disabled athletes, however, pretty quickly figure out that Steve is a poser, but they assist him anyway because of their dislike of arrogant perennial gold medal winner Jimmy Washington (Leonard Flowers). At the same time, Steve tries to win over lovely Special Olympics volunteer Lynn Sheridan (Katherine Heigl), while hilariously undermining her relationship with smarmy fiance David (Zen Gesner).

I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this film. I haven’t really dug Johnny Knoxville in the past (though I liked him in Walking Tall), and I was uncertain as to how he would play this character. Thoughts of Billy Bob Thornton’s Willie from Bad Santa ran rampant in my brain. However, The Ringer turns out to be a funny, sweet-natured film, which laughs with the mentally disabled, rather than at them. Knoxville’s Steve Barker is a surprisingly sympathetic character: an inherently decent dude trying to do the right thing, but is trapped into a corner, and ends up doing the wrong thing. While I don’t know if I can condone his actions, I do definitely feel for him. Knoxville reveals a vulnerable side that is a mini-revelation. Steve’s Special Olympics moniker “Jeffy Dahmer” still cracks me up. Katherine Heigl (television’s Roswell) is perfectly winsome and very hot as Lynn. The rest of the film cast is also uniformly very good, and is peppered with actual mentally disabled performers. Edward Barbanell (”Billy”) and John Taylor (”Rudy”) are both actors with Down Syndrome. Also, all the extra athletes are genuine Special Olympics athletes.

Produced by the wacky Farrelly brothers, The Ringer is irreverent, hilarious, touching and, yes, even a tad inspirational. But was it maybe too PC? Yeah, I would have to say so. The Farrellys obviously wanted to toe the line with this very chancy topic (the Special Olympics gave their blessings to this film). But, as someone had mentioned, one wonders what kinds of unpolitically-correct stuff was left discarded on the editing floor. Still, this is a very funny, feel-good movie, with a (who woulda thunk it?) very likable lead. Guess I’m gonna have to start watching more Johnny Knoxville.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Ringer! Click Here

Special Features include: pretty cool film commentary by director Barry W. Blaustein, producer Peter Farrelly, and actors Johnny Knoxville, Edward Barbanell and John Taylor; a Special Olympics featurette; deleted scenes; “Let the Games Begin – A Look at The Ringer” docu-segment; and a message from Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shriver.

Having seen most of Johnny Knoxville’s film oeuvre, I have not been particularly impressed. I’ve admired some elements of the smaller films (Daltry Calhoun, Grand Theft Parsons) that he’s done to extend his acting cred, but have found most of his “blockbuster” work (Dukes, Walking Tall) to be passable, at best, and excruciating, at worst. I’ll admit, I was not first in line to see “The Ringer.” The concept of Knoxville going undercover as a participant in the Special Olympics seemed like a disaster waiting to happen. In this world of political correctness, even the hint of impropriety threatens to derail questionable projects (much to my chagrin, most of the time), so I just didn’t see how it was possible that this story was going to be made. But made it was, and with the full cooperation of the Special Olympics!

With minimal expectations, I actually found “The Ringer” to be very funny and filled with heart. Without a question, I feel this is Johnny Knoxville’s best screen performance to date. He’s wickedly funny, surprisingly sympathetic, and a credible romantic lead all rolled into one. In a scheme that is entered into with good intentions, Knoxville infiltrates the Special Olympics with the help of his uncle (a hysterically dark turn from Brian Cox). There, he finds it much more challenging than he had anticipated–both physically in the sporting events and mentally as it’s difficult to maintain his cover. Of course, it doesn’t help matters that he falls for a lovely volunteer (natch) played by “Grey’s Anatomy”’s Katherine Heigl.

Of course, much of the humor is physical and much might be considered offensive in certain camps. I, for one, found it refreshing that the other participants of the Olympics were not portrayed as “saints” but as real people. The front-runner, for example, is an outright villain. And when Knoxville is set up on a blind date with a disabled girl, she is dismissive and irritable and downright mean. It’s a progressive and unusual view, as most movies on this subject show exclusively favorable characterizations. Knoxville’s plot against Heigl’s boyfriend is hysterical, his camaraderie in the group is fresh and believable, and his romantic inclinations are well-played.

With moments of what seem like mean-spirited humor, this is actually a sweet and respectful picture. I think most people expected a bit more of the gross-out humor found in early Farrelly Brother’s pictures. This is a slightly more conventional picture that the inspired “There’s Something About Mary”–but I was shocked and delighted by how much I actually liked “The Ringer.” KGHarris, 12/06.

“Bad Day at Black Rock” is a riveting suspense thriller with several memorable performances from a first rate cast. Spencer Tracy (in one of his best roles) excels as John J. MacReedy who is in Black Rock to take a medal to the father of one of his wartime colleagues now that the war is over. He encounters unexpected resentment and hostility from some of the residents, in particular from Robert Ryan, Ernest Borgnine and Lee Marvin who make a trio of formidable villains. When threats and intimidation have no effect on Tracy (who doggedly continues to pursue his investigations) the three then resort to violence. Also in the impressive cast are Anne Francis, Walter Brennan, Dean Jagger, John Ericson and Russell Collins. With the help of Brennan and Francis and after surmounting many obstacles Tracy eventually gets the upper hand bringing the film to its exciting climax.

Some favourite lines from the film:

Spencer Tracy (to train conductor): “Oh, I’ll only be here for 24 hours”. Train conductor: “In a place like this that could be a lifetime!”.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Bad Day at Black Rock! Click Here

Russell Collins (to Spencer Tracy): “Important? It’s the first time the streamliner has stopped here in four years”.

Tracy (to Ernest Borgnine): “You’re not only wrong – you’re wrong at the top of your voice!”.

Dean Jagger (to Tracy): “This ain’t no information bureau”.

John Ericson (to Tracy): “If you’re in such a hurry you should have never got off here”. Tracy: “I’m inclined to agree with you”.

A brilliant and satisfying film expertly directed by John Sturges who later went on to make other classics including “Gunfight at the O.K. Corral”, “The Magnificent Seven” and “The Great Escape”. Sturges was fortunate in having such a remarkably good cast – Borgnine and Marvin in particular were excellent as Robert Ryan’s menacing henchmen and Spencer Tracy was at his peak in one of his most powerful and demanding roles ever. He was in fact nominated as Best Actor for his performance in this film but was beaten by Ernest Borgnine for “Marty”.

“Bad Day at Black Rock” is a tense and captivating film with the action taking place over a tight time period of just 24 hours.

It’s very satisfying to see a relatively small movie that was made efficiently by pros become so widely liked and respected. It’s got just about everything…a gripping story that carries a message, vivid characters but a small cast, a dangerous setting, the plight of a brave loner on the side of justice who beats the odds. And it doesn’t have dumb things…an extraneous love story, outraged citizens who meet in a church, excessive violence, time spent on flashbacks. It was a long wait for this one to come out on DVD, but it was worth it.

Among many elements I admire are the three character actors: Russell Collins as the weak, cowardly telegraph agent, Dean Jagger as the played-out sheriff (his humiliation at the hands of Robert Ryan is unpleasant), and, most of all, Walter Brennan as the doctor who tries to push things but isn’t dumb enough to push too hard. I think this was one of Brennan’s last, really good roles before he turned himself into the toothless old coot or cackling grampa of his later films. In his prime, he was a fine actor. And for vicious bullies I don’t think anyone has topped Lee Marvin and Ernest Bognine in their roles. I’d even eat my catsup without any chili at all to avoid a confrontation with these guys.

I have a lot of respect for Robert Ryan but find it sad that, despite a number of opportunities, he never was able to break into the top rank of stardom. Maybe he didn’t really want that. Maybe he was too willing to play bad guys. Maybe he lacked some element of charisma or just ambition. He was a fine actor and, from reports, a nice guy.

The DVD transfer is excellent

This awesome classic starts out as a drama about the hard lives of truckers but ends up being a sort of film noir! Ann Sheridan was perfectly cast as a sassy independant woman, & I loved seeing George Raft & Humphrey Bogart playing brothers! And of course let’s not forget Ida Lupino, one of the best (& craziest) femme fatales of all time! Also there’s Alan Hale, who adds a whole lot of humor to the mix! I won’t go into the plot b/c other reviews have fully explained the plot, but I will say that you definitely need to add this gem to your dvd collection! Be aware that the real star of the film is George Raft, despite the misleading cover art, which tries to cash in on Bogey’s fame. This wasn’t disappointing to me at all, though. I thought George Raft was cool! I highly recommend this to fans of great classics.

They Drive by Night was so much fun to discover! Anyone who likes old movies will enjoy seeing this one. With Bogie as George Raft’s little brother, working together as truckers, and the wonderfully wicked Ida Lupino married to the blissfully ignorant Alan Hale, this movie was a joy to watch from start to finish.

I personally liked a lot of Showtime’s Masters of Horror series. What a great idea a bunch of influential directors in the horror genre doing one hour films. Some were great and some not so great but every Sunday while the seasons played you’d have the opportunity to see something new in horror.

These discs were originally released individually and someone could’ve easily payed twice as much as this set is worth, for those people, the people who probably followed the show the closest, were it’s biggest supporters contributing ratings, and contributed money for their monthly Showtime subscriptions it sucks this wasn’t released at first.

For the people that liked the show but never picked any up this is a great deal.

From a marketing and business side i guess this was smart to get more money out of people.

…the packaging is quite cheesy/cheap. I don’t know what I expected for $55, but it wasn’t the chintzy cardboard mausoleum NOR the cardboard slipcovers for each disc (that’s correct, these discs are not held in keep cases or even slim cases, they are in cardboard slipcovers, in a slotted plastic insert).

I DO enjoy the Masters of Horror series (some good episodes, some bad, none great), but I’m a horror fanatic and not particularly discriminating. I love the fact that some of the greatest horror film directors are involved with this and, though these short films are not anyone’s best work by a long shot, as I said I do enjoy this series nonetheless.

So–those who purchased these DVDs individually actually have one up on those of us who waited for the boxed set: at least your discs are housed appropriately in long-lasting plastic!!
