Ghost Hunt concludes in a set sure to make it both a shoujo and horror anime staple.

Character development continues, as in particular we find out the reason for the bug up Lin’s behind as Mai has a conversation with him that finally removes said bug. Mai’s relationship with Monk continues to be a highlight as he remains 10 shades of awesome, particularly when he takes the reins when Naru is incapacitated for a large chunk of the final case of the series, which also gives Ayako some great moments when the situation enters her territory. The series also gains a new regular in Osamu Yasuhara, a bright boy with a good sense of humor roughly Mai’s age who becomes the team’s unofficial research assistant after he befriends the gang when they take a case at his school.

We’re not allowed to forget, though, the reason why the series is named Ghost Hunt; and unlike most of the first half of the series, these three cases are genuinely scary. This is turn the lights off and crawl under the covers material, culminating in – what else? – a battle between the cast regulars and an army of undead in July (a month which corresponds in Japanese culture to October in the United States in regards to things that go bump in the night). It also stays true to the subject material – Ghost fans will notice, for instance, the nod in the middle case to the Winchester House which eventually shows up in any documentary anthology of hauntings on TV.

Several key issues are not addressed. We never find out what Masako has on Naru, nor the reason for Mai’s dreams of Naru; and the Mai/Naru/Masako triangle is nowhere near resolved. Will Ghost Hunt eventually continue? Only the spirits know for now – but I can safely say that the series as is will not-so-paranormally enter my DVD player in October for the forseeable future.

Now originally I thought this would be good, but I was somewhat disappointed. Ghost Hunt has some good and bad points as an anime.

The great part is that it serves as a legit horror/suspense anime. There were a lot of times it made me jump. There were also a few times where I felt pulled into the anime and felt the emotions of the character, like when Mai almost gets her throat slit. It doesn’t fail to scare you.

The animation doesn’t get in the way either. It is really well put together, and the characters are well thought out. And there is always room for comic relief.

The bad news is that there really isn’t a main plotline. The series is broken up into cases, which interfers with the idea of having a main objective. This also makes the series end too suddenly with too many questions. We never find out if Mai and Naru get together or if there is a bigger plan for the cast. Perhaps there will be another season since the collection says Season 1. If not, that’s why I marked it down so bad.

Ghost hunt is by no means a bad anime. Just be prepared to be disappointed at the end.

I own the other SATC collections, so I’m not about to leave my collection unfinished. Particularly with the BEST episode of the entire series ever (beating My Motherboard, Myself from season 4, which, believe me, was no small feat in the excellent series), in American Girl in Paris Part Deux. That episode alone makes this a worthwhile purchase.

The Series wrapped up with many nice surprises. Charlotte’s new passion was not only fitting, but really suited the ‘new’ Charlotte. Miranda’s acceptance of the consequences of her new life were masterfully played by Cynthia Nixon. Catrall…Dear LORD how talented is this woman? Her protrayal of Samantha in the most serious stages of her illness was classic Samantha, but with a vulnerability never seen in this character. (Particularly the Samantha/Smith relationship and it’s very natural development.) And, of course, SJP wraps up the chapter of Carries life in a very acceptable fashion.

The series’ end was handled wonderfully and respectably for all involved (no miracle pregnancy for charlotte, no Carrie’s Wedding). This is fine television at it’s best, and any series fan will have to own this, just on principle alone.

That being said, I agree with the earlier review who said HBO isn’t real ‘user friendly’ when it comes to programming their DVD’s. I’d like to be able to watch one episode after another, but ya gotta keep running back and forth between menus. And, as I said in this episode’s predecessor review…Why only half a season? What???? But, now that you have both parts, it makes it a whole. A pricey whole in relation to the other, full-season-in-one-package wholes, but at least complete.

Now, one gripe I have moreso with this portion of the series was Mikhail Barishnikov’s character. I could never warm up to him, and aside from providing some kinda father figure ‘thing’, I couldn’t see why in the world Carrie would have ever been attracted to him, much less moved to Paris with him! That was the only part I found slightly ‘off’ in an otherwise perfect season.

But, the best twenty minutes of writing happen in the last section of the last episode, and I cannot fathom how any fan of this series or these characters doesn’t require at least 5 hankies to make it through. It’s a wonderful end to a wonderful series.

With the closing of Friends, Frasier and now Sex and the City – we truly are seeing an end to an era.

This last set of episodes seemed a little less on the edge and more like a setup to the last episode. That having been said, I would not have missed them for the world. The creators still did a great job in providing a nice ending to each of the characters’ stories.

I agree with many of the people who posted reviews for Season 5 and Season 6 Parts 1 and 2 – HBO treats the SATC followers very shabby in (1) charging so much for virtually half seasons (2) releasing Season 6 as two separate FULL PRICE sets and (3) providing very little extras in Season 6 Part 1 to compensate for the price.

I must say, I totally enjoy all of the episodes with Michael Patrick King’s commentaries and I wish that he did that for EVERY episode. I also HOPE that they include the special SATC Overview show(s) (2 half hour shows that were really one show) in the Part 2 DVD set. It would also be nice to see the Oprah show with all the girls – but I am sure that will not be on there.

All in all – it was a great 6 years and I will enjoy watching them (uncut – unlike the TBS/TNT versions) forever. It is too bad that broadcast networks cannot take the lead from HBO and BBC and make LIMITED RUN series that have high quality and great stars that know they are only committed for a few years. Imagine the quality that we would enjoy. I strongly urge everyone to purchase every season from 1-6 (Parts 1 AND 2) to complete your collection of one of TV’s best groundbreaking classics (cliche, I know, but true).

This set contains a strong batch of episodes from the latter half of season 1 of the new TMNT series. Mirroring a story arc from the comics and the 1990 movie, the Shredder attacks the Turtles, forcing them to regroup at Casey’s farmhouse before returning to New York for the final showdown (or so they think). Afterwards they must find Splinter, abducted by the same aliens responsible for the Turtles’ origin! Elsewhere the Turtles find monsters in an underground Foot genetics lab, and there is a nice tribute episode to comic legend Jack Kirby.

Again no bonus features, which is disappointing. However the episodes are good, and the price is relatively cheap for the amount of content. I agree it’s annoying to still have the TV-Y7 tags at the beginning, hopefully 4Kids will get rid of them next time. I haven’t had any disc errors on my copy, and hopefully you won’t either.

If you have any interest in the Ninja Turtles, this is recommended.

The 2nd part of the first season, they finally decided to cram more episodes & in order with these sets. I have all of them so far & of course i think this is one of the best part of the season yet. Part 2 of 2 continued on from:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Season 1 – Part 1 of 2 – (2 DVDs – 12 Episodes)

The turtles will no longer fear the Shredder as a threat, they finally realize they can defeat him & while they’re not masters yet they definatly show no mercy for Shredder. Unlike the ‘original tmnt’ series like:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Original Series (Volume 1)

This series is more action-filled & more storyboarded with tons of cliffhangers i would think that comic-fans & true TMNT fans will love this dvd. As well as others make sure you check out:
