This was a worthy movie from Maverick. Some movies from Maverick are iffy, but this one was well acted and had a fine memoir. The lead actress is very fair and does a capable job. The anecdote is status in England and Russia, and moves relieve and forth nicely between the two. It has some explicit screech racy a strip club and other sexual situations. This was all nicely done and erotic. All in all a pleasurable film if you want to gaze a B movie with sex, and violence, yet a compelling yarn to prop it up.

This was a surprise. I wasn’r expecting great with this movie, so was pleasantly surprised with how well this movie was done. First things first, If you are looking for an exploitation movie, this ain’t it. There are a couple of fairly brief shower scenes, and a fairly tame scene of sex between two women, but the overall focus was kept on the sage itself. I have seen other work by Jag Mundra on the past, and this was probably one of the better ones. Worth a contemplate for definite. Charlie S.

Yesterday, I received my 2 disc edition of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, and I looked over the sleeve and it looked nice and got me all exasperated, reminded me of the G.I. Joe days of when I was a kid watching the cartoon! Then, I later last night achieve the second disc in to check out the extras! HA that was a joke! The only extras on this 2 disc is the making of the movie, and the special effects slack the scenes thing. Now granted those were icy, but the only staunch reason for the second disc is for the digital copy! I honestly assume this movie is not worth [...] at all, maybe 16.99! Titanic deal you pick up the digital copy! How many of us out there really exercise the digital copy? Where was the deleted and alternate scenes? Is it really coming to the point where things are going to Blu Ray and not to regular dvd which their are a heck of a lot more dvd player owners then blu ray! I say if you are looking at this review on deciding whether to take the 2 disc, wait till it goes cheaper and bag it! Don’t exhaust over 10 bucks for it! Thanks for your time I hope this helps!

My husband and I saw this movie tonight on a whim, both of us remembering watching the cartoon from the 1980’s. Now I wasn’t expecting any wonderful acting or OMG wonderful writing, I went to be entertained and I was very entertained by this movie. I liked the Scarlett/Ripcord dynamic, something that has turned out to be somewhat controversial. This is due to the fact that in the cartoon Scarlett was always paired with Duke and with Snake Eyes in the droll. However, the two actors had chemistry, so I liked it.

There were two things however that I had issues with. The first being Screen Girl, she was my fave joe during my childhood and she was a TANKER not an admin/desk jockey. Also, you have no thought that it’s her until the raze credits roll around. It would have been nice to know that I had been looking at Mask Girl, instead of wondering if she was in the film. I heard that Lady J was in the movie as well, but I’ll be damned if I could pick up her, if she was in it, like Camouflage Girl, they never reach out and say it. They fair seize that you are psychic and automaticlly know.

The second is Tatum Channing. Dear G-d, that man cannot act, at all, not even a shrimp bit. Considering that he mostly plays off of Marlon Wayns and Sienna Miller, two people who can act… well it becomes painfully and pitifully clear that he is out of his league. Which is REALLY murky to say, considering that this movie is pure escapist, action fluff! While he has the gape of Duke for the most fragment, the man couldn’t act his draw out of a paper bag if someone held the slay commence for him.

Lastly, Breaker is a Loyal treat. I found myself wanting more scenes with him and eagerly anticipating his lines. Hopefully he’ll accept more of them in the sequel, which is already in development and which all the actors are under contract to be in.

If you really want to earn the most out of viewing this recount, don’t effect the mistake many of these Amazon reviewers do, by either assuming the politics of Cimino et al or using your contain pro- or anti-America agenda as a indispensable yardstick. Because really this film isn’t proselytizing a particular viewpoint, unlike Cimino’s disastrous followup HEAVEN’S GATE. And don’t deem of it solely as a war movie. Actually, it’s a lot like GONE WITH THE WIND: an epic-scale explore at life and society in a specific status and time in the past (in this case, 1968, ten years before the film was made), and how folks send off their high-spirited young men to a war that no one pays a huge deal of mind to – and how that war shatters not only the young men but the world they left slack, forever. The wedding scene IS long and in lesser hands on either side of the camera would be a dumb weight but Cimino and lensman (sorry) Vilmos Zsigmond frame it in reverent widescreen grandeur, and a once-in-a-lifetime cast nails every character nuance and conversational tic, so that the scene flows on and on, vibrant with life and perfectly evoking not only a rust-belt town but the fast-fading rust-belt values of the nation. Besides, with a cast like this movie’s, working at the height of their powers with inspired material, you really don’t want scenes to extinguish. When the movie segues to Vietnam, the tone shifts to awe and finally surrealism. Many judge this share of the movie horribly racist, but that’s a ample, kneejerk-liberal reaction. These aren’t Harvard freshmen, they’re barely-educated steeltown kids being sent to a faroff jungle to waste VC, who come by captured & tortured by the men they are trying to ruin. For enlightened liberal pieties to affirm the dialogue or the tone of these scenes would be criminally fallacious. That’s probably what makes this a broad flick, however, that right-wingers can disapprove it for its positive liberalism and the bleeding hearts can abhor it for its reactionary jingoism. Ain’t consensus fantastic? Check your fill politics at the door before watching this (widescreen version only!) and bask in four transcendent performances by DeNiro, Savage, Walken & Streep, plus the leisurely John Cazale doing his patented sweaty-weasel turn as an added bonus.

Cimino’s THE DEER HUNTER is difficult to report. The film opens with a long and complex sequence depicting events surrounding an interpret wedding in a steel mill town–and then vaults several of that community’s young men into a hellish vision of the Vietnam war, from which the survivors return so completely changed that they no longer fit into the community from which they originally came.

There are several distinguished issues with THE DEER HUNTER. When it was first released, audiences were very distinct about the film–but they complained about the opening “home town” sequence, which they described as tedious and over-long. The studio accordingly edited the sequence to half its unusual length–but when the edited version was shown, audiences were considerably less involved about the film in general and complained that it lacked impact, and the edited share was restored. Audiences serene complain about the opening sequence, seldom realizing that it provides the point of comparison that makes the remainder of the film so powerful–and in any case, this fact is something that can only be recognized by viewers in hindsight, a circumstance that does not aid them weather the first allotment of the movie when they actually seek it. Many also complain that the position is astonishing. Once the three leads (Robert De Niro, John Savage, and Christopher Walken) approach Vietnam, they are unexpectedly reunited fair in time to be captured and tortured together. In the film’s most celebrated scene, the three are forced to play Russian roulette against each other–and although they sprint, one is maimed (Savage) and the other (Walken) so emotionally traumatized that he vanishes into Vietnamese underworld, where he re-enacts the fear of his torture by playing Russian roulette as a gambling game.

But for all its glitchiness, THE DEER HUNTER is a remarkably intense, remarkably disturbing film–particularly when the discharged De Niro returns home only to fetch himself surrounded by ancient friends whose ‘broads and beer’ lives seem incredibly trivial in comparison to his maintain experience. He has changed; they have not; what has been lost cannot be recovered. But there can be a sort of redemption through an acceptance of the change that has been forced upon him–and by trying to bring others who have suffered to that same acceptance. Cimino’s direction and overall vision is loose, to say the least, but he draws unbelievable performances from an unbelievable cast. De Niro gives what may be the most subtle performance of his entire career in this film. Christopher Walken’s performance (he won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar) is justly renowned, and although often overlooked, John Savage is every bit his equal; Meryl Streep is also memorable in one of her earliest big-screen roles. And bitter as the film is, it aloof speaks of honor, integrity, hope, and bonds of friendship and community that can never be broken. Deeply flawed–but a masterpiece nonetheless.

I’m going to originate the review off with the obvious: this is not a movie, but rather a documentary on the Kings Of Comedy Tour. In other words, a stand-up comedy film. You’re probably reading this and wondering “why would anybody sell a collection of comedy skits as a full-length feature film? ” Study the movie and you’ll understand. While no doubt ample for television viewing (partly because they’re all on BET), the experience in the theatre gives an overall impression of being there, actually watching Steve Harvey, DL Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer and Bernie Mac toss their routines live. As for the performers themselves, some of them are downright hilarious – I particularly like Steve Harvey and, of course Bernie Mac – while DL Hughley is kinda so-so, spending most of the time talking about panties and dissing audience members. But even the weaker performances survive because the performers are energetic and bristling with enthusiasm. This ends up making the material seem a lot funnier than it really is. I guarantee you’ll gain yourself laughing till you’re crying over jokes that really aren’t all that silly (like me as well as everyone else that was in the theatre) . DL Hughley is no doubt decent overall, and Cedric the Entertainer has his shimmering moments, although as a whole they aren’t really anything special. Emcee Steve Harvey and Bernie Mac, on the other hand, are awesome. Steve Harvey’s material is actually amusing to inaugurate with (I Worship the Astronomical bit at the beginning), but a lot of it is racy as well. He manages to gain humour in care for, spirituality and family life without sounding blasphemous or disrespectful. Most importantly, he means every single word he says, and that connects with the audience all too well when talking about romance and appreciate. As for Bernie Mac: THIS is the skit that makes the movie so proper. Without a doubt the star of the display, Bernie talks rudely about his kids and his original parenting techniques, and pokes fun at other parents. His subject matter can be a cramped hazardous, but he never comes through as disrespectful or snarky. Whereas Steve Harvey delivers his skits with pure honesty, Mac’s charm comes from the fact that its clear that not a single word of it is apt. This allows him to inspect territory that others may be petrified to. As a whole, this movie is highly recommended if you care for to laugh. It is an entirely worthwhile intention to end two hours, and I can guarantee you’ll leave the theatre (or television) with a large smile on your face.

This film captures stand-up performances from comedians Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley, Cedric The Entertainer and Bernie Mac, and is a non-stop laugh-fest in the highest sense of the term. This review is not going to be a very long one – to be rather impartial. The humor, of course, revolves around many taboo subjects like racial stereotypes, sex, religion and other things – if you are easily offended by any of these things, I suggest you avoid this film like the plague, because it is no holds barred! A few of the many hilarious scenes that I think personal favorites from each comedian:

(1) . Steve Harvey does a heavenly obedient job of mocking the characters in the Tremendous film who settle to maintain playing their violins amidst a major catastrophe. He later goes into detail about why he prefers “old-school” music; particularly old-school R&B, over the hip-hop and rap trends that seem to be preferred by the recent generation. He does an effective job of lambasting rappers, and is absolutely laugh-out-loud hilarious. I was practically in tears from laughing so hard at this. Needs to be seen to be believed.

(2) . D.L. Hughley was hilarious too, but like some have pointed out, some of his routines came from other, earlier stand-up specials. Side note: If you can earn a copy of his stand-up comedic special entitled “Going Home,” steal it up. That performance I contain to be his funniest, and it leaves me rolling on the floor everytime.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Original Kings of Comedy/ Queens of Comedy Gift Set! Click Here

(3) . Cedric The Entertainer’s humor was the least brash of all the four, and has more of a laid-back, subtle charm, which serene manages to execute you laugh. The whole break-dance scene was droll, as well as his “cruising into outer station” scene, his self-made “martial art style” scene, and others.

(4) . Bernie Mac – suited lord. He was without a doubt the craziest, most brash, most (messed) -up comedian in this spot. Sadistic and intensely cathartic, even. It’s only fitting that he would be the last performer. His routine was impartial a small too grand for me – and serene is – and I mean that in the best scheme possible. His takes on kids and how they salvage (or should secure) punished, sex and orgasm, and the “stuttering” kid were unprejudiced too noteworthy – not only was I laughing too hard, but my lungs began to harm, I nearly lost my assure for a brief period, and I was nearly out of oxygen. The guy was too mighty! Saying that he cracked me up would be a Sizable understatement.

All in all, recommended for many who want (or need) a major laugh-fest. Sometimes, one of the best ways – if not the best device – to deal with dreadful situations in life is to be able to laugh at them – as exemplified in this film. If you suffer from chronic asthma, heart disease, and/or are easily terrified – particularly by the things mentioned in the above paragraphs (including loads of profanity) – discontinue VERY far away from this – you will be digging yourself an early grave.

Even though this is not a laugh out loud film, it is an worthy example of sarcastic humor. The theme of beneficial vs deplorable is evident. What isn’t so easily discerned is who is respectable and who is infamous. In this film perception truely is everything.

Gomez(Raul Julia) and Moricia(Anjelica Huston) Addams are not your typical people next door. They do, however have an extended family to develop them somewhat like a typical recent family. Daughter Wednesday(Christina Ricci), son Pugsley(Jimmy Workman), Grandma(Judith Malina) and Lurch, the butler(Carel Struycken) abet acquire the ugly family mansion with life and after-life.

The Addams’ have family values they try to pass on to the children, though they are quite different from most value.

The peril starts when so called normal people enter the recount. The family lawyer(Don Hedaya), Abigail Craven(Elizabeth Wilson) and her son(Christopher Lloyd) space to win the Addams family fortune. Using deciet and trechary, the son masquerades as Uncle Festor, Gomez’s long lost brother. The schemes they hatch and the obsticales they encounter accomplish for interest and entertainment. The family home is well worth a survey. It is filled with props and devices that are a perfect compliment to this unsual family. The characters are protrayed with such skill, it makes them perfectly believable. In fact is is hard at times to negate who the main characters are for the entire cast moves in and out of the status light to first steal the lead than back each other as the fable unflolds. A twist at the waste makes the carry out as unusual and unsual as the rest of the report. This is a mountainous change of prance film fitting neatly between the hilarious and the riduclous.

A treat for all fans of the well-liked sixties sitcom. This original cast (all but John Astin who played Gomez are now deceased) featuring Angelica Huston, Christopher Lloyd, and the behind Raul Julia do the film and the Addams characters astronomical justice. As the song says: “They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, they’re all together hooky, the Addams family.” It’s very amusing entertainment not unbiased for Halloween, but all year long!

Volume 5 of Kaleido Star Novel Wings is mostly about explaining the motivation of some of its most hated characters, from prove and past. Rosetta and Sora, along with most of their friends, head to France for a short stint with Noir Circus to withhold their skills modern and to give Rosetta a chance to try her luck with the trapeze. Rosetta is experiencing a lot of misfortune until she encounters a primitive up alcoholic trainer that once taught the elite of the world, including Leon and his deceased sister. He’s impressed not only by Rosetta, but after telling them allotment of the epic of Leon and Sophie’s quest to perfect the Angel’s Maneuver, he gives Sora more insight into her absorb desires and the road to being a upright star. And what secret grudge lies between Leon and Yuri?

I have to admit, I haven’t been a colossal fan of this second season of a explain I really loved, and even conception at distinct points to conclude watching it. But I perservered through Sora’s uncharacteristic depression wallowing and an absolute disgust and aversion to May to effect it to this point, probably the only friendly volume of this second series! Sora finally gets confidence in herself and decides what she really wants. I don’t gain in her idealistic goal of creating a “stage without battles” because how do you ever fetch better unless you have competition? Without it, you become complacent and ragged. No matter what Sora says, she is fighting to accept her plan to the top, whether she admits it or not. The thing that has always dragged this series down is the total warping of Sora’s character to fit a melodramatic formula, which instead of provocative you, could drive you to Prozac. This is a welcome return to the spirit of the first season and is long overdue!

Here I am again with another attempt..and I say ATTEMPT because the account of Sora’s whisk to become a Kaleido Star gets more complex and more drama unfolds for her.

For those of you who fell in like with the comedic situations in the first season & have kept up with the legend will sight that it has taken a dramatic turn because, honestly, Sora’s road to be a ‘true star’ is no longer fun & games.

It was also hard to do fair 5 or 6 sentences for these episodes because there was SO noteworthy going on, so excuse the LONG reviews for each episode.

So, here I go with reviews for Vol. 5…with MAJOR spoilers.

Be warned.

Oh, by the intention, who view ‘Anathema’ sounded like some illness when they first saw it. :-)

1. Leon’s Astounding Past

Sora and the gang, with befriend from Rosetta, have been invited to France to participate at the Noir Circus. Once there, they experience a mix-up of being at the faulty location, inaccurate identities and being effect through some horrid stunts.

Meanwhile, Rosetta comes across Alain, a retired trapeze trainer whose last students happened to be Sophie and Leon Oswald, and she wants him to roar her.

Sora and her group finds Rosetta at Alain’s set and winds up being told how Sophie and Leon came to be in his service. Advance to net out they were given up by their relatives when Alain asked to bewitch them in so he could issue them on the trapeze, since he saw how talented they were at it.

To the KS crew’s surprise, it is revealed that Sophie was better at the trapeze than Leon, but you would never know that by the diagram she acts and Alain came to a conclusion that SHE could be the one to do a good Angel’s Maneuver, which is the path to becoming a upright star.

But Leon doesn’t like the rigorous training that Alain puts Sophie through, which is the same training Leon had place Sora through, so they leave [keep in mind they were with Alain for a long time].

Once the memoir is over, Sora asks Alain will he notify her to do the Angel’s Maneuver. But Alain no longer believes in the ‘path to becoming a good star’, but Sora is definite.

Meanwhile, befriend at the Noir Circus, Sora and her posse are performing and May, in her determination to effect on a expose like Sora, starts doing all these wild moves.

I’m surprised she didn’t bustle out of breath because she named every..last..one..of..them and she kept going on and on and on, until Sora told her she had to close so they could waste the point to.

Unknown to the gang, Yuri was watching the exhibit with Alain and it seems like Yuri has something up his sleeves.

2. The Fantastic Fated Duel

The Kaleido Stage crew are finally heading home and they’re surprised to be joined by Yuri who is going wait on with them to befriend effect and form in a expose, with Sora as lead, grand to her surprise.

Back in Kalos’ office, Yuri talks about how the Angel’s Maneuver they did wasn’t the complete one and he wants Sora to do the moral Maneuver.

At that point, Leon walks in and he is NOT gay with the view of being pushed aside and by Yuri Killian of all people.

It seems they have dreadful blood between them from 3 years ago and to acquire matters worse, Yuri taunts Leon by calling him a ‘hopeless coward’ who didn’t want to do the Angel’s Maneuver with Sophie…or Sora. Yuri goes onto say that Leon doesn’t want to have his revenge because of what happened 3 years ago.

Hmm, revenge for what? :-)

Later Yuri talks to Sora about doing the Maneuver and what ridicule

she’ll experience if she fails and he, also, tells her that Sophie died because of him and Sora is terrified to hear this.

As the Kaleido Stage members are glad [..relieved, that is..] that

Sora is support which means no more May, Yuri calls Leon to the main stage, offering him a rapier/sword so Leon can rep his chance at revenge, but Leon refuses to retract it up.

So Yuri proceeds to taunt him saying how distinguished of a coward the God of Death is and how Leon didn’t want to attain the Maneuver with Sophie and hoped such a shame wouldn’t be revealed.

To be unbiased, Yuri old-fashioned some VERY harsh words, but the trigger was when Yuri said Leon was tickled that Sophie was tiring,.

I kid you not and let the fighting start…

I won’t catch into the dynamics of the fight but I will say that Erroll Flynn and Tyrone Power had nothing on these two. I unprejudiced wished the fight was two minutes longer.

Sora do a close to the fight by doing the Angel’s Maneuver technique which stopped Leon’s killing blow. The thing that had me thinking about this scene was as Sora was trying to appeal to the two men, you had a feeling of how connected to the stage Sora is. Now I’ve seen people dismiss the scene as corny, but to me it was heavenly in a procedure.

To bring this to a end, Yuri revealed he was willing to seize the blow for atonement for what he did and Leon, once again, remembers his promise to Sophie and Yuri tells him this is his last chance to get gracious on that promise.

3. Flight of the Astounding Angel

The opening of this episode reminded me of why I deem Leon Oswald is the coolest and most enchanting character in this anime ever since I saw him nail the Screw Go in episode 5.

Here we recognize a younger and happier [..yes, Ecstatic..] Leon Oswald sitting at the kitchen table with Sophie. But it was HOW he was ’sitting’ that surprised me..and no I won’t allege. :-)

Anyway, once again, Sora begins her training but is becoming wretched when she can’t do simple right-leg squats..on a log..in water..without making ripples.

Okay, that is kinda hard.

So, Fool suggests she catch a fracture which she does and while walking around the city, she comes across a woman and seeing-eye dog. The woman, who turns out to be a trainer, seems familiar to Sora and she realizes this is the woman who saw produce ‘Alice in Wonderland’ when Sora was a child.

The woman, Donna, and Sora talk about how Donna left the stage because she couldn’t select the animosity and hatred that was happening backstage. She goes onto say how everyone seemed like demons [there's a lot of mentioning about demons in this season], while working with seeing-eye dogs they were like perfect angels wanting to please.

While listening to her, Sora understands that the Angel’s Maneuver isn’t about becoming an angel but waking up people’s angel hearts inside. Therefore, keen her to perfect her first level of training with a certain mind.

4. The Incredible Injured Swan

Sora’s second level of training has begun and it’s nothing compared to what she has done before. Her imbalance is working against her and it’s taking its toll on her feet.

Leon is doing hands-on training with her and notices the stress she is going through but he chooses to preserve aloof.

During one fraction of Sora’s training where she has to occupy a pose for a long time, Leon notices she can’t hold it up so he ends her training and tells her to blooming tune what she’s learned. But Sora can’t bear that’s all to the training and she refuses to stay, all the while damaging her feet more in the process.

Ken comes up with an belief to exercise equipment he saw on an infomercial to succor with her balance which it does to an extent.

But, when Sora tries to go befriend to her first level of training, her body seems worse off than before.

Leon, seeing Sora pushing her body to such extremes, wants her to end and doesn’t understand why she and Sophie would ‘push themselves mercilessly to conclude their dream’.

Sora responds didn’t he mediate that maybe Sophie wanted to eye him on such a stage where he doesn’t have to fight anymore.

side note: Sora is saying all this because she, instinctively, knew Leon had been trying to protect Sophie from the harsh realities of the stage and as a result, Sophie wanted to gain a conflict-free stage where he could delight in performing again.

Leon, finally, decides it’s time to effect due on the promise he made long ago and resumes the special training on the Angel’s Maneuver..with Sora.

..and that’s enough for now until the next TWO months.

nuff said…

Having bought the UAV release of this movie and being disappointed in the playback, I was thrilled to search for a major heed like MGM has picked up this gem of a movie and released it rrecently on DVD. The portray is crystal definite, and the sound is enormous. This is how this movie should have been released on DVD in the first site. There are no noise lines or pixeling in the MGM version. There is fair vibrant colour and clarity. Parts of the movie reveal graininess, but that is not the fault of the DVD, it’s unbiased the film outmoded, plus this movie is from 1984, so there wasn’t digital filming at that time. I am very cheerful to finally acquire this movie that has been properly transferred onto DVD. This disc features a running audio commentary from John Sayles, plus an interview with him too. If you were not gratified with the UAV version of this movie, I strongly recommend picking up the MGM release, because the movie looks how it should perceive on DVD and that’s vast!

I saw this classic movie succor in the mid ’80s, and I must say that it is memorable. What really makes this movie is the performance of Joe Morton and the supporting cast. Joe doesn’t say a word of dialogue throughout the movie, but his facial expressions and body language exhibit that he has an undisputed talent for acting. He plays an intergalactic slave running away from bounty hunters. Fracture landing in Unique York City, he gets to experience what the world has to offer. The comedy in this movie is subtle, but very witty which adds to the charm of this movie. I was hesitant to grasp this movie on DVD because of the reviews & the mark. On the wait on of the maintain case, there is a disclaimer stating that there are describe imperfections due to the master dilapidated. I’ve never seen this on a DVD before! The honorable things about the DVD is that it’s very sure & in focus. The colour looks normal (people are not flaming pink or morbid grey looking) & the disc plays continuous & doesn’t freeze after each scene. The dreadful things are: The master old is not even acceptable for broadcast standards. There are a lot of artifacts throughout the movie (periodic horizontal noise lines & pixelling around the 45minute imprint) It looks like a frail out BETA SP master was worn. This is where the tag comes in, for a DVD it’s really indecent priced, but it shows that you bag what you pay for. It’s sad, because this movie deserves the respect of being digitally remastered & reissued on a properly produced DVD.

Michael T. Weiss plays Jarod. Taken as a young boy from his family, Jarod is trained by the shadow organization The Centre to be a Pretender. Basically, he plays out scenarios for his captors. Putting himself into the mind of the people he’s forced to emulate.

The series begins with the adult Jarod having escaped the Centre. His mission is simple, attend those who need benefit while avoiding being recaptured. All the while, Jarod flashes support to his Centre simulations by means of the extensive video archive they kept on him. At any given time, 3 to 4 actors describe Jarod as he comes of age in these archives.

He is tracked relentlessly by Miss Parker (Andrea Parker) . She, along with tech whiz Broots (Jon Gries) and Jarod’s Centre father-figure Sydney (Patrick Bauchau), are thwarted by Jarod week-in and week-out. But Parker is driven and focused, even if Sydney is less than alive to about returning his charge to the Centre.

Missing in this first season are many of the sizable elements which would follow in seasons two through four. But the groundwork is laid here in reliable fashion. It starts here as more of a “Fugitive” type dash. To say mighty more would spoil the fun of discovering this marvelous series.

There is a childlike glee in Weiss’ early portrayal of Jarod. His discovery of Pez and ice cream for the first time is priceless. Parker is vicious, driven and sexy as can be honest from the begin. Broots could easily have been the prototype for “Alias” tech guy Marshall Flinkman. Bauchau gives Sydney a serene in the gape of the storm feel.

Available for the first time on DVD in the US. The series has been available in France for about two years now.

Jarod (Michael T. Weiss) can pretend to be anything; doctor, lawyer, tinker, tailor, solider, ogle it doesn’t matter. His favorable intellect and chameleon like ability to inhabit any role he wants. What drives Jarod is the search for his past and wanting to hurry his explain. As a child Jarod was abducted by a mysterious organization called “The Centre” which uses people like Jarod for their absorb insidious means. Jarod escapes but is pursued by Sydney (Patrick Bauchau of “Carnivale”) and Miss Parker (Andre Parker from “The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.” and “ER”) . While on the speed Jarod helps those less fortunate than himself as he takes on novel identities in every episode. Michael T. Weiss’ laughable performance and the multiple storylines retain “The Pretender” consuming and though-provoking.

Fox does another stellar job with a intriguing transfer. The stereo sound comes across with nice clarity. Since this series was produced before many shows were done in the surround format, there’s no opportunity to assume advantage of the format. The economic decision to place this out on four dual sided dual layered discs may have brought the notice down so that the Fox could include a featurette and commentary tracks but it also makes these discs highly more likely to become damaged with wear and mosey over time. The discs are packed with two each in a single container facing each other. While both are slightly recessed in the slimline packaging, it’s very likely that the discs will advance into contact with each other and become scratched. I’d suggest purchasing 2 additional slimline cases so that you only have one disc in each slimline holder. It’ll better protect the position. Given the care in the transfers, extras and commentary tracks, I’m disappointed and surprised that Fox would pick such a short chop as it doesn’t gash the overall production cost all that noteworthy nor does it increase the note significantly either.

The three piece “Making of” featurette is the highlight of the extras included here. Spread over four dual sided dual layered discs, the three share featurette focuses on the creation of the series, casting and performers that ultimately inhabited the roles adding and expanding on them. Featuring lots of interviews with the writers/producers/creators and many of the actors from the series, it’s a nice trio of featurettes. My only complaint is that you can’t contemplate them all as one featurette because they are spread out over all the discs. We also derive the unique TV spots advertising the point to as fraction of the extras.

A number of episodes feature commentary tracks but the best is on the season finale two-part episode. “Dragon House” features creator/writer/producer Craig W. Van Sickle, Steven Long Mitchell, director Fred Keller and actor Jon Gries. We contemplate, for example, that actor Weiss was the only choice for the display because he could embody both the child-like wonder of the character and the darker elements that haunt him from his past.

A qualified series that, despite it’s black tone, kept audiences guessing “The Pretender” looks great on DVD and appears intact. I didn’t study any editing or music changes like I’ve seen with other celebrated series. The packaging is another matter entirely and, although it’s likely it won’t be changed for later seasons, it should be. While I didn’t mind the slim line sets all that mighty to originate with I do mind the dual sided dual layered discs packaged this blueprint. It increases the likelihood of injure to the plot.

This is a very long film. I saw the DVD version, purchased novel from Amazon, which probably was a transfer. The quality is not abominable – better than a VHS tape but not equivalent to the newest DVD’s. This film uses very listless pacing – I liked it a lot although it’s certainly not something for the MTV generation where everything has to be done at warp rush. The camera dwells on the painting process brush stroke by brush stroke interspersed by the handsome body of Emmanuelle Béart. The French countryside scenery, the passe house of the artist and the studio are examples of elegant photography. You have lots of time during this film to savor the archaic painted woodwork of the doors and mouldings – the spaciousness of the house reminds me of Rodin’s feeble house now the Musee Rodin. The important colors customary on the interior doors and super remind me a lot of Monets house at Giverny. This is an artists house. I loved this film for the atmosphere and the character development. I’m not clear if all films should be done this design, but the snails sail works well here. It allows you to soak up the atmosphere – after 4 hours it was over and gain it or not I was serene looking for more. A film definitely not for everybody but I’m happy it was created. Behold this when you have lots of time and are not in any particular run to “recede onto the next thing”. Start a bottle of wine, pick up a friend to devour this with and luxuriate in the plain dreary wearisome slide.

After receiving astonishing acclaim for his 4-hour masterwork “La Belle Noiseuse”, seminal French Modern Wave director Jacques Rivette edited it down to 2 hours (by jettisoning its long real-time takes of an artist at work), substituting alternate takes of obvious scenes and making subtle but vital changes in the scene order. The result is “Divertimento”, a slightly darker and, in my idea, substantially lesser work.

If you worship “La Belle Noiseuse” as remarkable as I do, “Divertimento” will give you a thought-provoking but not revelatory novel angle on a astronomical film. If you haven’t seen “La Belle Noiseuse” yet, don’t cheat yourself by watching this one first.

Swingers could be a hip movie, a Guys movie, great-sagacious-advice movie, a warm-amusing movie, this-is-what-friendship-is-about movie, or simply one of the most facetious for-a-lark flicks of the 90s. But whatever imprint you wish to stick on it, this fair, low-budget humdinger from Liman is very very “money”!

Top 10 reasons to come by your hands on this movie now:

(1) It’s fast-paced, well edited (not one wasted scene) and frequently laugh-out-loud laughable. If you hear people dismiss this as an inconsequential story about a “bunch of losers trying to win laid”, I’m terrorized they objective have not watched the entire movie. I am not into the “Seek who shagged me” genre of humor, but this movie will truly grow on you.

(2) It’ll ring a bell with almost anyone, particularly guys. Mike — a crestfallen loverboy (Jon Favreau) is in the throes of a breakup, and his confidence has hit rock bottom. (Sidenote: Favreau is a very ordinary looking guy, which in fact imho is the power of his character.) Under the aegis of his friend Trent (Vince Vaughn, in top make, a lot better than his controlled acting in, gulp, The Psycho) Mike re-learns how to accept relieve up on his feet and prefer reins of his life/emotions again. While this happens, we are treated to a bunch of every-day faux pas that we all can identify with in a blink. Fervent yet?

(3) The boys’ camaraderie is infectious. If you see this movie with friends — and this indeed is the best draw to spy it! — you’ll know what I mean. This has to be one of the most just portrayals of relationships between friends — both the lover and the platonic variety.

(4) Call me exclusive but I loved the sound track, a enjoyable blend of underground jazz and triphop.

(5) Some of the “secure relieve on your feet” dialogue for Mike is truly marvellous, and makes for better, more down-to-earth, more piquant advice about life and relationships than Dr. Ruth and Oprah achieve together.

(6) An arresting eye at the Los Angeles we never view in films, the underground life of the struggling actors and writers and less glamorous people, not living in Malibu opulence as seen in other weaker films.

(7) Some gargantuan Sega Genesis NHL ice-hockey “footage” (to exercise a dignified term) and an fresh preview of seeing Gretzky’s head knocked.

(8) This is to men what “Sex and the City” is to women. (Ok, SATC has had a lot more time than Swingers to entice us with the workings of the Recent Woman, but you net the plan)

(9) A wide assortment of one-liners for you to conveniently plagiarize from. Not seen in a single movie since Roxanne with Steve Martin.

(10) Oh, and it’s so laid relieve, its horizontal. No spiffy visual FX, no smash enlighten bang, no cheap frills. But collected a high heavenly homerun.

Required Viewing.

I may not be able to describe to it as well as I can to, say, The Truth About Cats and Dogs, but I have never laughed so hard at any movie in my life. And relating isn’t so principal if you can understand and empathize the characters. I saw a puny bit of me in Trent (loud, outspoken) and a minute of my friends in Mike and Sue. It helps the average girl understand the not-so-normal thinking of the not-so-average guy that we all waste up falling for. And besides all that, it’s realistic. Name another ’90’s movie that is more realistic. The myth is broad, the acting perfect, the direction colossal. Remove this or rent it. No matter what your gender.
