The Battle of Britain is one of my common films. Stout cast, classic flying scenes and a spicy perspective on historical events.

However, I was disappointed with the DVD version. The image quality is mountainous, but the DVD differs from the VHS version in some primary ways.

First, the DVD version has different subtitles. Some are modified and some are added. If you read all of the newly added (and mostly unnecessary) subtitles, you can’t withhold up with the video in some scenes. I don’t yelp German, so I can’t say whether the modified subtitles are more honest, but I feel that some of the translations lost their dramatic edge in this release. The DVD producers also chose to overlap subtitles with the portray, when, at 2.35:1, there’s plenty of room below the video for the subtitles.

Secondly, on VHS, the movie’s final scene is boosted by Ron Goodwin’s attractive soundtrack. The DVD version drops the Ron Goodwin track and replaces it with a listless share that saps the life out of the final scene. This was a major disappointment.

Lastly, impartial before the waste credits, Winston Churchill’s celebrated quote is replaced with a less well-known one.

Overall, it’s tranquil a astronomical movie, but the VHS version was nearly perfect. After waiting years for the DVD version, I’m now left hoping there will be a Special Edition version with the VHS subtitles and soundtrack restored.

At long last fans of this tall production have a DVD that won’t disappoint. Those of us who saw the film when it was released in Theaters to this day, I hold, at every viewing of this movie grasp and relive the indispensable impact it had.

O.k…so we have Heinkels and Me 109’s with Merlin engines. Near on guys! I certainly assume that to CGI planes that don’t even exist. Remember…there’s about as itsy-bitsy chance that you’ll ever study a gathering of warbirds like this on film again as there is of the Battle of Britain repeating itself. And the model Stukas? Well, contemplate about it. Even if there were a few around, which there wasn’t (flyable that is), they wouldn’t be crashing them now would they. No, we’d tranquil gape models. Not one sincere airplane was destroyed making this film. All were mock-ups or models.

While the cherish epic addicts are generally happier watching the likes of Pearl Harbor for certain reasons, it must be remembered that films like Battle of Britain and Tora Tora Tora (easily the better Pearl Harbor depiction) are simply intended to jabber a chronicle. A itsy-bitsy bit of documentary? You bet. A myth of which we already know the begining, the middle and the outcome. There are no twists or suprises to be expected. No heroes walking out of the smoke in wearisome motion. The film is about the battle, not the individuals. It’s about the RAF, not the one pilot that flies better than anyone else and has the prettiest girl waiting for him. It’s about the country that against overwhelming odds came through. No. No individual heroes or loves…if that’s what you’re looking for quite simply you are watching the foul movie. What? Did we survey a review or two that complained of no status? Geeez Loueeez…don’t mutter the Germans. You can exclaim monkeys to review better than that. Anyway, similarly we have a production that brings us accurate Heinkels and 109’s and Spitfires and Hurricanes once again dueling it out over London and Dover…impossible by todays standards for monetary, permitability and aircraft availability reasons, in an almost equally overwhelming distress as stopping the Luftwaffe. I for one judge the guys responsible for this masterful movie deserve all the credit for laboring and acheiving as profitable a peer abet at those times as we’re ever likely to rep.

It’s interresting to imprint that it was twenty-nine years seperating the proper event from the movie. It’s been thirty-six years since the movie premiered. In that thirty-six year period not another film of this genre can near halt. And if we go farther attend into Hollywood history, well there’s loads of AT-6’s and occasional P-43 Lancers painted as Zeros, F-84’s masquerading as Migs…and of course, more recently F-5’s as Migs, and so on. I am grateful for the attention to authenticity that was given to every aspect of this production. Ogle the special features disc about how even accurate dock areas of London exact estate and airbase hangers were once again destroyed to add even more realism.

And speaking of grateful, THANK YOU MGM for the stout job on this DVD place. Whatever the reason for the lousy version released a couple of years ago, this anxiety is pleasant. To those of you who have not seen it yet, rest assured it is assist in it’s fresh beget…and then some. Subtitles have all been restored, the video is mastered in high definition and the audio greatly displays the encourage of a re-do in 5.1 Dolby Digital. Thankfully, the soundtrack is also returned to the comely Ron Goodwin version, with the Sir William Walton bag available as an option. It’s exciting to hasten the movie with the other regain, but I promise you after about 15 minutes you’ll be switching benefit to Ron Goodwin. However, Sir William Walton is a talented composer in his acquire just, and while his come was entirely diferent it is that incompatibility that makes his “Battle in the Air” interlude such a striking section of the movie. Pilot and aircraft attrition are displayed at the kill as in the current. The subtitles are located in the lower letterbox bar which is immense, although it may be a diminutive frustrating for some depending on your television. Since it is in 16×9 aspect ratio, the “stretch mode” most appropriate on some screens may cut the lower line of subtitle. Watching it on a Sony 50 dart widescreen LCD location had this plight, but the SharpVision projector space at 9 feet diagonally has a setting

that accomodates perfectly.

So assign that weak laser disc and the blurry vhs tape away for trustworthy…sit assist and luxuriate in…the sincere Battle of Britain is about to start…

Good Movie. However, not one of the best women in prison movies that the 70’s has been so well known for, but it’s certainly worth watching. Grier and Markov compose for a mountainous note team. They’re both really hot women and even obtain nude together in one scene (that alone makes the film worth seeing) . One thing that makes the movie stand out from the rest(prison flicks) is the fact that it’s more than impartial a prison flick, 60 percent of the movie takes dwelling outside of the prison walls. One of the major highlights is a well-kept catfight between Grier and Markov (meow) All in all this is a must survey for Grier fans. Also if you want to peek these two in another film together check out the ARENA.

Now this be a movie! On an unnamed Carribean Island our heros Grier (prostitute) and Markov (terrorist) are bused into a female prison. View female guards secure themselves off while watching naughty inmates shower. If a prisoner ‘plays good’ with the head guard they collect out of work. Pam don’t like having to pull other people’s load, gets into a messhal fight with Markov. They are keep into the sweatbox together. There is only room to stand, and they must lean their physiques against each other to stand, because the walls are too hot to touch.

Later they are chained together for interigation because they both have information on two separate parties (druglords and a terrorist group planning to assume over the island) . While enroute they hurry with the succor of a terrorist ambush. While on the rush, and chained together, Grier wants to go to one side of the island to score her boat and stolen cash, while Markov wants to go to the other side of the island to accept the weapons her terrorist friends need.

High points 1) they dress as nuns while on the race 2) a lot of nudity 3) The rhinestone cowboy Puerto Rican bounty hunter who is as considerable out of dwelling on that island as is a snowball.

My only beef would be the change in the animation & writting after episode 4. It became map to ‘cutesy’ and less crass. No more exposed breasts come by shown, no more truely silly innuendos. I felt like I was watching a saturday morning fluffy cartoon.

Now I understand why it got cancelled. Someone screwed with it and screwed it up.

It is worth buying for the orginial first 4 episodes tho.

I don’t know what happened with the other reviewers, but my DVD’s played with no plight and nothing was pixelated out. The only censoring I found was a couple of words were “beeped” out and I deem that was fraction of the script. The series itself was a fun parody of humorous characters and sexual innuendo. This isn’t a kid’s cartoon, but lots of R rated humor for adults.

That first time I frail my credit card to acquire something online, I did so with quite a bit of trepidation, as I had concerns about how easily some hacker type could consume my card number and rack up my debt…since then I’ve realized many sites do use some sort of protection against that kind of thing, but unexcited, the idea of vulnerabilities lingers in my mind…and movies like Sneakers (1992) certainly don’t back to quell those concerns…written and directed by Phil Alden Robinson (Field of Dreams), the film stars Robert Redford (Three Days of the Condor) and Sidney Poitier (Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner) . Also appearing is David Strathairn (Dolores Claiborne), Dan Aykroyd (Grosse Pointe Blank), the unhurried River Phoenix (My Beget Private Idaho), Mary McDonnell (Independence Day), and Ben Kingsley (Gandhi) .

In the film, Martin Bishop (Redford) and his colleagues operate a security company who other businesses hire to fracture into their companies, exposing where their security may be lacking. Each member of the shrimp team has their contain, new background (many sharp past criminal activities), but after the group is approached (blackmailed) by a gooberment agency with a proposition to recover a mysterious map (it involves the expend of computers and cryptography), it’s discovered that Bishop has the most to lose if they don’t win the job. The group manages the acquisition easy enough, but soon net themselves in a heap of wretchedness as the plot turns out to be something of uncouth value, a contrivance many would ruin to acquire. As the web of conspiracy and deceit grows, as does the level of effort (various individuals wind up getting killed), the group must utilize all their abilities to outwit those intent on stealing the design for themselves, using it for their have, wrong purposes, and seeing Martin and his co-workers in jail, or even humdrum.

Sneakers is a false film. I’ve seen it a few times, the first time I saw it, it appeared to be a light movie (I’ve read that the makers of the film injected a modest amount of profanity into the script to avoid a `G’ rating, for fears the movie would have been perceived as a film for children) with a few, gaping spot holes, but subsequent viewings (for me, at least), narrate it to be a very rich, complex, quick-witted, delectable thriller with an grand cast and a tight storyline with shrimp or no mistakes, and the position holes I originally perceived actually dealt with, many times in very subtle ways, hence the need for explain viewings (it’s well-known to pay attention to many of the limited details provided throughout) . Redford and Poitier are the strongest cast members in the film, but they don’t necessarily arrive off that plan, as they seem to understand the importance of their parts within the whole of the film, instilling a subtleness within their performances, allowing for the focus to be on the narrative rather on themselves. This seems to be an determined notice of their experience, and I found myself appreciating this, as often starring actors tend to be paunchy of themselves, and their efforts on hide explain it…originally it seemed to me that the character development was a bit light, but I’ve since approach to feel we’re given unbiased exactly what’s needed for the yarn, and anymore would have bordered on the extraneous and unnecessary. Also, it’s nice to recognize a film where Dan Aykroyd plays a relatively minor fraction, doing what he’s told, having nothing to do with the writing or directing (he not only wrote but directed the one of the worst films I’ve ever seen in 1991’s Nothing But Danger) . Also, I usually tend to like women with the longer hair, but I concept Mary McDonnell, with her short hair and all, looked very elegant and added a improbable, feminine element to this nearly all male cast with her role as Liz, a ancient lover of Bishop, now assisting the group seemingly out of appreciation of Bishop’s past. Director Robinson keeps the pacing tight, and uses the talent within the film well (I supposed this is helped by the fact he also wrote the screenplay, so he has an intimate notion of the visuals he wants to display in accordance with the memoir) . The McGuffin (a term invented by Alfred Hitchcock to represent the element of the film the region centers on…he would often point to, but rarely justify on it, as its’ specifics were never notable, in his mind, only its’ employ in providing focus for the anecdote and progressing the dwelling) seems a bit farfetched, but the quick-witted memoir and the talented performances do well in creating a level of believability that got through this aspect. Another notable feature of the film is the musical catch, provided by legendary and prolific composer James Horner (Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, Aliens) . Usually I neglect mentioning the music within a film unless it’s either really awful or really grand (the latter being the case here) . I wonder how many people are aware that he started out composing for rude budget producer Roger Corman, working on films like Battle Beyond the Stars and Humanoids From the Deep, both released 1980. A couple of minor appearances worth looking for are Donal Logue (Blade, The Tao of Steve), James Earl Jones (Sure and Reveal Grief), and Timothy Busfield (Revenge of the Nerds) . Accepted line from the film? When Bishop is talking to the NSA guys and responds, “I could have been in the NSA, but they found out my parents were married.”

The widescreen anamorphic represent (1.85:1) looks reasonably gorgeous, and the Dolby Digital Surround 2.0 tracks (available in English, French, and Spanish) sound decent. Special features include an recent theatrical trailer for the film, subtitles, informative production notes, background and filmographies of some of the cast and crew, a `making of’ featurette, and commentary track by the director. All in all a decent release of a really kindly film.

This review refers to the Widescreen Edition(1998 Universal) …..

Martin Bishop’s(Robert Redford) team of maverick techies construct their living(not a colossal one) as “Sneakers”. Breaking into the security systems of high powered companies. It is the high powered companies that actually mark their pay checks. They are hired to collect the breakdowns in the systems. The team includes a blindman who is expert in sound(David Strathairn), and ex-CIA agent(Sydney Poitier), a young expert hacker(River Phoenix), and a magician at all sorts of gadgets who is probably the most paranoid person on the face of the earth(Dan Aykroyd) .What a Cast!

Martin Bishop though, has a secret he’s been keeping from his team. One that has kept him on the accelerate from the government for 25 years. When the government agents offer him a chance to trim up his portray, simply by finding and retrieving a “Unlit Box” primitive by a mathematical genius for decoding, Martin jumps at the chance and so do the rest of the guys(It also pays really fine too!) . The job seems easy enough, but what they don’t know may end them. This “box” is so worthy in it’s capabilities, that any any Government in the world would slay for it.

The team, also with the benefit of Bishop’s ex(Mary McDonnell) goes into a high-tech action caper, that is heartstopping, moving, and often humorous. It’ll thrill and amaze you as they exhaust their weapons of knowledge to complete their mission.

The film is directed by Phil Alden Robinson, and also stars Ben Kingsley, Timothy Busfield, and James Earl Jones. You can’t go scandalous with all these large names. All the performances are terrific.

I was not totally blissful with this edition of the DVD though. Although the sound in Dolby Surround was quite suited and the anamorphic widescreen(1.85:1) was well presented there seemed to be a reddish glow hovering on all the indoor scenes(almost like a recent TV the needs the tint adjusted) . It was a slight hard on the eyes. Otherwise I probably would’ve gone 5 stars as this is one of the cleverist capers I have seen. Don’t peep for too remarkable on the extras. There are a few, some production notes(no live commentary) filmographies, and a trailer. It is also captioned and has subtitles in English, Spanish and French.Maybe the newer edition has the color quandary cleaned up. It would be worth renting it at least…savor…Laurie

Disney’s last hand-drawn feature isn’t a Disney film at all; it’s an attempt to do a Warner Brothers Looney Tune feature, which is as dim an raze to Disney’s legacy as I can contemplate of. To abandon all that made the studio gargantuan and try to ape another’s success is a positive heed of management’s faithlessness in Disney’s legacy.

Things open off well enough when a decidedly unlucky rabbit continually gets into ever more hilarious situations (getting race over by a wagon wheel, stuck by a cactus, bitten by a snake, you pick up the plan) . It was the one moment in the film where the audience as a whole was laughing. But after this sequence, I only heard sporadic chuckles.

Although the snappy walk and simplistic narrative accurately mimic the Looney Tunes shorts, the characters aren’t nearly as spicy. None have charisma of Bugs, Daffy or even Pepe Le Peu. Without strong characters the comedy comes off hollow and didn’t possess my (nor the audiences’ it seemed) interest. The film is a brisk 71 minutes or so, but I was looking at my scrutinize anyways. Someone sitting next to me even fell asleep!

There seems to be a general lack of imagination in this film. The one exception being the completely unexpected diagram in which the cows are being stolen. It’s a astronomical opinion that had the potential to be classic moment in Disney animation, but feels roped in, constipated, as if the filmmakers were skittish to trust the thought and let it guide the action.

Young children will mostly relish this film while it lasts but it’s distinct to be forgotten soon afterward. There are a few jokes that are meant for older audiences, but it’s not enough to design a lasting impression. This film will be best enjoyed on DVD as a babysitter.

I am in that period of my life where I am watching a lot of children’s programming. The tendency is to initiate to impose my acquire adult tastes on these children’s movies. I judge this is because the bar has been raised with Shrek and other movies that plant plenty of jokes for the parents.

The pickle with Home on the Range is the adult jokes are objective mildly comic. The joke does not as great originate you laugh as it makes you say to yourself, “Oh yes, they are trying to effect me laugh. Cute.”

This is by far the best history of Santa Claus I have seen (and I’ve searched them all out) . A respectful treatment of the religious tradition of St. Cut and a very extensive history to the new tale of Santa Claus. I can not recommend this video more highly

My children were coming to the age where they did not absorb in Santa as a live person who comes down your chimmeney. They had a lot of questions about how he got to be the icon that he is and what exactly he had to do with Christmas a very religious holiday. This explains alot of who the actual Santa Claus was and how he got to be so commercialized. Estimable for some children and all adults.

How do I represent THE Sage OF DESPEREAUX? On the one hand, it’s got agreeable animation, extraordinary mutter acting, and enthralling characters. On the other hand, it has a few too many characters, grown-up themes, and requires the viewer’s rapt attention. On the fascinating hand, it’s impartial not for puny ones. To be sure, it’s exquisite for young ones to gawk, it impartial seems that they are not the film’s intended audience. This is unique since it LOOKS like it’s a kid’s prove. It was advertised as a kid’s demonstrate. But my 4-year-old only watched when Despereaux himself was on the camouflage, and my 11-year-old spent most of the movie telling me how different it was from the book. My husband and I liked it, but we all agreed it was simply “OK.”

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Tale of Despereaux! Click Here

THE Record OF DESPEREAUX is actually a couple of tales, starting with the chronicle of a sea-faring rat named Roscuro who loves soup. Through a execrable twist of fate, Roscuro’s presence results in the queen’s death (death by soup, hold it or not) and the banning of soup and rats from the kingdom. I had to wonder why no one had opinion to banish the rats before but eh. Roscuro ends up in the dungeon where only the rats hang out. The second yarn is about Despereaux the mouse. We decided that Despereaux must be Flemish for “Dumbo” since that’s radiant worthy who this mouse looks like. He can even cruise with his giant ears. Despereaux is literally brave and as such is banished from mousedom for terror of the other meeses learning his dreadful traits. Guess where he’s banished to. That’s factual, the rat dungeon. Another sage is about a peasant girl who dreams of being a princess. Apparently, this was toned intention down from the new, in that the girl’s owner only sneers at her and doesn’t beat her in the movie. We study how she is sold to the king’s cook along with a herd of pigs. She eventually teaches us a lesson about jealousy. Then there’s the king’s sage. He’s so dismal at the loss of the queen that he bans soup and rats (as we’ve covered) and sits in his room all day plucking a mandolin. His sadness manifests itself as gray clouds and no rain – everything dies. Then there’s the princess who wishes she could fix everything, the jailer who wishes he could undo a tragic mistake, a cook who wishes he could once more compose soups, an snide rat who doesn’t seem terribly ghastly, and, and, and… As I said, there’s a whole lot going on.

The short retort is that THE Anecdote OF DESPEREAUX itself is not offensive, but there are better options in this genre. Capture a survey at Dragon Hunters, for instance. It deals with the same themes as Despereaux (honor, courage, valor) but my family liked it a lot more.

*Spoiler Alert. A question was made to add this for people who don’t like to inspect storyline*

My daughter wanted to peep this film. Probably because the ads showed a cute mouse. We had never heard of this book so I can’t believe the anecdote.

The qualities of the stories are simple. Mistakes, redemption, pure of heart, honor, etc.

The movie opens with a ship heading to a city. On it is Roscuro the rat. Wearing cloths and an ear ring he looks forward for the well-known Soup of the day of the kingdom of Dor. Wandering through the city he accidentally finds himself in the royal hall as the royal family are first to try the soup. Too entranced with the smell; Roscuro falls into the Queens soup and she is petrified to glimpse a Rat, suffers a heart attack and dies. The guards trek him and he eventally falls into a drainage where he lands in Ratworld. There he is discovered by Botticelli who befriends him and decides to announce him the obliging ways of being a Rat.

The grieving king then declares no more soup and rats are outlawed and any who harbor them will be punished.

Despereaux is born in mouseworld. He is not a typical mouse. Smaller then normal and he has over-sized ears. What’s worst is that he doesn’t cower, race, and he likes to win the cheese from mouse traps. His parents are called into school and told he is about to fail since he does not cower from knives and he draws pictures of cats. Even names one fluffy. The school master suggests that Despereaux follow his brother who graduated and was a noble mouse and could verbalize by example.

They head off to the library where Despereaux is supposed to eat books but instead he starts reading them and learns about knights, honor and questing to place the handsome princess. This eventually takes him to the Princess Peas room where he befriends her as she is provocative by his gentlemanly ways.

Eventually, Desperaux is found out and he is punished as he has gone too far by talking to a human.

He is sent to Ratword where no mouse ever returns. The rats fetch him and toss him into a Colosseum where he is to be sacrificed to a cat.

Roscuro notices him and sees that he is different. He decides to achieve him by declaring he wants to eat him. Botticelli, leader of the rats, agrees as he had been wretched with Roscuro since he was refusing to eat flesh.

In Roscuro’s room, Despereaux tells Roscuro about knights, chivalry and his quest to establish the princess. Roscuro recognizes the princess is the very girl whose mother he caused to die and decides to support as he may bag a chance of redemption by telling her he is sorry.

I could go on but I don’t want to completely spoil the film. Overall I liked the film as the hero really doesn’t solve all problems. It’s more cause and execute that guides the sage. The actions of one affect another. Happiness is lost and as the narrator says a hero appears when most needed. Despereaux is the hero and he actions effects others and causes actions which cause the return of happiness.

The cast is profitable. Sigourney Weaver does a mammoth job as the narrator. Matthew Broderick as Despereaux and Dustin Hoffman as Roscuro. Emma Watson as the princess(though I must admit I concept was Emily Watson) . Tracey Ullman as Miggery Sow. Kevin Kline as Andre the soup master. Ciaran Hinds as Botticelli(though I must admit I concept Peter O’Toole would have been better) .

Visually the film is aesthetic and the music adds to experience in the factual ways.

Violence wise it’s magnificent well-behaved. There is fighting but you don’t view things like stabbing, etc. It can be intense especially with the Rat chases and the rat gladiatorial scenes but it’s not too dreadful. My girl is sensitive but she only wanted a exiguous comfort but she peaceful kept her eyes on the cover.

My daugher wants to gawk it again as it’s a large film in her view and I deem it’s was worth the theater ticket. My daughter has already declared we have to pick up the film when it goes to DVD.

Each one of the “Harry Palmer” films is radically different from the other. “The Ipcress File” (Universal, 1965) was a psychological thriller. “Funeral in Berlin” (Paramount, 1966) was a taut espionage triple foul. “The Billion Dollar Brain” (United Artists, 1967) was something else.

Throughout the series, Michael Caine starred as “Harry Palmer” — the study with no name in the Len Deighton novels. Each film has its maintain stagger on Deighton’s work. The first two films depicted Harry Palmer as a working class peruse. Very down to earth and gritty. This third outing, directed by Ken Russell, was slicker, somewhat Bond-like in feel — but then, so was the book on which it’s based. Some esteem it, some disapprove it. The actors are quite salubrious, production values are high, the snow is for precise and lots of it. The location is unique — no doubt about it. Actually quite bizarre at times with some over-the-top situation pieces. A cracking salubrious study epic — but don’t examine explosions every five minutes.

This is quite a marvelous (not broad), keen film and long overdue on DVD. It’s been available since September 2004 on Location 2 disc and now at long last on State 1 on October 4, 2005, in its unique aspect ratio and Dolby stereo. Apparently a short segment with Beatles music had to be deleted for copyright purposes. Perhaps the holding company held out for to worthy money?

After a lapse of over 25 years, the next Harry Palmer films with Michael Caine would be “Bullet to Beijing” and “Midnight in St Petersberg”.

Over the top can be a determined thing. For decades Bond movies have made their reputation on it. However, this third entry in the Harry Palmer series goes a long blueprint to undoing the sterling will built up over the first two instalments (The Ipcress File and Funeral in Berlin) in its 60’s excess.

Its predecessors made a virtue not of reality, but creating a believable every day Cockney with novel character traits, unwillingly dragged through the existence of spying, and all the bureaucracy inherent in it. The movie and region were never fully grounded in reality, but were nonetheless believable.

Here, Ken Russell opts to throw away the edgy impressionistic camera angles developed by Sidney Furie and Guy Hamilton, instead making a pseudo Bond movie. Which is a true pity – who needs another Bond-lite character? The spot builds slowly at first with satisfyingly snowy locations and skullduggery and spying.. but soon becomes lost in an over-the-top ending bright a megalomaniac American oil billionaire using a not-so-super-now-computer to try and invade Latvia.

There is never a true sense of difficulty to humanity, and too many space threads are left unexplained for this to be an entirely successful affair.

And yet, all of this is tempered by Michael Caine’s effortless charisma in the role. If the scriptwriters fail to fill the details in the screenplay that made the character so intriguing, Caine overcomes this with his shroud presence. Karl Malden plays well in the rather two dimensional `greedy guy’ role, and Ed Begley plays `evil megalomaniac’ well within the confines of the material. Guy Coleman makes a welcome return as Colonel Ross but alas is woefully underused. The femme fatale is played by Francoise Dorleac, who tragically died at a young age later the same year in a car accident.

Honeywell computers are given a gigantic credit as having supplied all the computing rooms and material which acquire such a grand component of the situation. It’s fantastically quaint now to ogle gigantic rooms of computers racked up to do mundane tasks, programming supplied by stacks of cards. One unintentionally hilarious scene has Karl Malden `editing’ the data by taking some of the programming cards out and shredding them! I can’t imagine what a generation brought up on iPods and worthy home computers must manufacture of it.

In summary, what makes the movie at best mediocre – the bland script, the over the top campness, will endear it as a classic to others. The action scenes are handled well, the locations in Finland suitably spectacular, and the actors are more than up to the task. However this reviewer was left frigid by more than unprejudiced the scenes of snow and ice.
