“Grudge Match” – Ben and Kevin 11 have been abducted and imprisoned in a huge alien carrier where they are forced to fight other alien creatures.

“Gwen 10″ – What if it was Gwen – not Ben – who found the Omnitrix and its alien powers within it ? This episode lets us find out.

“Dr. Animo and the Mutant Ray” – The evil Dr. Animo returns for revenge. Ben must stop him again in rather bizarre alien combos thanks to a broken part in the Omnitrix.

“Ghostfreaked Out” – Ben discovers that Ghostfreak has escaped the device. Now Ben must find a way to get the ghostly alien back into the watch.

Special features include an episode commentary, another how-to-draw feature (this time, the fiery Heatblast), deleted scenes, and a in-depth look at Ben’s alien heroes.

Well, I guess I’ll be waiting for the third season of Ben and his LONG road trip. In the meantime, look for the new “Ben 10: Protector of Earth” video game AND the new live-action movie “Ben 10: Race Against Time” on Cartoon Network !

Gave this as gift to my nephew for Christmas and He like the gift. He is a Big fan of this cartoon. It is a good cartoon for a kid of any age.

Like other parents of infants & toddlers I was very excited by the release of a Baby Einstein video with a holiday theme. Unfortunately this one just does not hold my baby’s attention in the same was that others do. In fact, my preschooler (who enjoys watching the videos with my infant daughter) remarked that Baby Santa was ‘boring.’ Some of the main elements, which make the other Baby Einstein videos successful at engaging the attention and delighting infants, are not in this video.

The Baby Einstein ‘formula’ usually includes a dynamic classical soundtrack interspersed with other sounds. The music / soundtrack is enhanced by the visuals which include short clips of kids, toys and other moving objects, and puppets – later videos include some nature scenes. The visually stimulating toys and other real world objects are just not included in this Baby Santa to the extent they are in the others. The soundtrack which is a primary source of fascination for infants, especially in Baby Mozart, Baby Bach, and Baby Van Gogh is not up to par: Baby Santa’s score is a thin rendition of some carols without orchestration – in short – it is quite boring. There is much more emphasis on puppets and the ‘kids’ which just does not hold the same level of attention.

If you are new to the Baby Einstein Company’s videos and are looking primarily for a video which engages and enhances development, I would highly recommend Baby Van Gogh. Baby Van Gogh has high production quality and corrects some of the oversights in earlier Baby Einstein Company products (like ethnic balance among the kids, for example). It has enjoyed the greatest longevity and highest entertainment value of all of our baby videos – probably because has a really dynamic soundtrack and superb visuals.

If you are specifically looking for something with a festive mood to add to the collection of videos for little ones, I would recommend Hap Palmer’s “Baby Songs Christmas.” Baby Songs Christmas is mixes some traditional carols with new songs and really ‘homey’ clips of kids (mostly). After about 6-7 months, my infant daughter started to enjoy this series, and we were all delighted with the Christmas video.

They’ve done it again folks – 23 minutes of movie in an 81 minute production.

As a public service, let me tell you what else you’re getting for your money:

Three collections of Christmas Music with no video, mostly just parts of the songs. (you already have most of them on CD anyway)

A general “How to watch baby Einstein with your kids guide”

A link to where you can buy all the stuff shown.

As for the video part itself, it is undoubtably very entertaining for the 1 month to 18 month group, but not stimulating enough for older children, unless they just like the music. (in which case you can put on a CD)

There are lots of brightly coloured ornaments, and a real cool train, and Santa dolls, and the cutest collection of kids ever cast in a Baby Einstein production. (It’s a bit heavy on the Aigner-Clark kids, but hey – she’s the boss after all, so no complaining)

Unfortunately, almost one third of the scant 23 minutes comprises a white glove shutting the lid of a green box (with the host reundeer puppet inside), to signify the end of a segment. There are a lot of very brief segments for real short attention spans, and while some slow music pieces run on for a bit longer, the more unusual segments like the Japanese mobile are cut in mid flow.

Every child loves to see animals, so, to keep the interest, they borrowed some unused clips from the Baby Doolittle videos, and threw in some animal footage.

The puppets are very untidy citizens in this one. They throw tinsel around, and the gingerbread man piece had even my son saying “Yuch – Messy!”

If you have kids less than 18 months old, I’d say “go for it” this Christmas to get them in the spirit, if your kids are older, put on some cd’s and have a sing along.

My rating and the following refers specifically to the Director’s Cut. I would rate the original theatrical release five stars.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Donnie Darko – The Director’s Cut! Click Here

This director’s cut brought to mind William Faulkner’s line about writers often having to “kill their darlings” in order to meet the demands of a work’s wholeness and integrity. Evidently, Richard Kelly was forced to kill his darlings with the theatrical release, and the result was close to perfection, if not perfection itself. The film’s emotional force was stunning; its mysteries challenging; its pace so good that hitting pause to get more popcorn was impossible to do; its soundtrack (to my mind) a tour de force. It worked terrifically as a film experience, being a beautiful “whole” work of art. Extras that included Roberta Sparrow’s book were great … who really wanted to read the book during the movie anyways? (Which we can now do in the DC.)

Which does not mean a director’s cut had no hope of working. Or even, maybe, revisions to the soundtrack (although I really think that was touchy business better left untouched). There were some good scenes deleted from the original, mainly between family members, and they didn’t seem major pace-cutters. Fortunately, we do get those scenes here, but we also get the overwhelming force of the director’s enthusiasm … and WAY too much embedded detail of his personal vision.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Donnie Darko – The Director’s Cut! Click Here

On the upside, there’s a nifty freedom to that enthusiasm which translates well into the Darko world IF you are also enthusiastic and into “playing” with Darko. In other words, if you love Donnie Darko already, you may find this cut a lot of fun. The pacing’s completely blown, and the ending comes across flat compared to the original. (Kelly gets too detailed and baroque at the end, thus the impact of the “Mad World” music montage–don’t want to include spoilers–and last scene is severely undermined.) Yet it’s great to have more Darko, however we have to get it. And I don’t regret buying this.

But if you’ve never seen the original DVD release, I cannot recommend this DVD set to you over that one. You will probably wonder why a cult ever built up around this film … what anyone saw in it. You’ll be missing that visceral power and compelling wonder that makes movies great and leaves you wanting to see a movie again … immediately, if possible.

Donnie Darko was a little miracle of a film that cast a huge shadow. The director’s cut joins many other films that try for bigness and achieve little … unless, of course, in Darko’s case, you’ve already seen the light and are into shadow-play.

Donnie Darko is a very good movie. Yeah it gets a little to complicated for itself at times, but it’s entertaining the entire way through. A very good film with a very good cast. Almost nothing wrong with it. But…

The Director’s Cut: Alright, this version of the film has been criticized by many fans and critics. Often seen as making the film, simple and cheap. I myself do not enjoy it quite as much as the original, for the above reasons. But by no means does the Director’s Cut make it a bad movie. I mean heck, I own it. The specials on the dvd are also pretty good.

I still suggest to you that you watch the original first, but if you don’t, I wouldn’t worry about it. The whole, “The Director’s Cut is the Worst movie Ever”, isn’t true. I hope you enjoy this very good movie.

Rating: 4 Stars

I hope this was helpful, thanks for your time.

I applaud this release of the entire first season of Gunsmoke on DVD, and hope the remainder of the best TV western ever made will also be released.

Gunsmoke, the longest running western in TV history (or TV drama for that matter at 20 years and 635 episodes), is complex and textured, dealing with mature themes and unforgettable characters that became part of our culture. It was billed as the first `adult western.’

I grew up watching the series, which debuted in 1955 as a half-hour black and white show then progressed to an hour in its seventh season, and began being produced in color in 1966.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Gunsmoke – The First Season! Click Here

The original opening depicted the Marshall in a fast-draw gunfight against a villain he killed, but this was toned down years later after groups complained of violence. As a result, rather than seeing the villain fall dead, the camera instead stayed only on Dillon as he drew his `peacemaker.’ In the 70’s, the opening eliminated the gunfight altogether and depicted Dillon riding quickly across the range. In the 1960’s, early episodes of the series were rebroadcast as `Marshall Dillon.’

The much-honored and beloved show went off the air in 1975. Thirty-nine glorious black and white half-hour shows comprise this incredible set.

Few need to be told what his western depicted: It’s the story of Marshall Matt Dillon (played to perfection by James Arness) who tamed the lawless Dodge City, Kansas, in 1873. He did so not only with his six-shooter but with his courage, sense of honor, justice and irreproachable integrity behind the badge.

A radio show predated the TV series and aired from 1952 to 1961. The radio Marshall was voiced by William Conrad (who later portrayed the lead role of the portly private investigator `Cannon’ in the 1970’s.) When CBS decided to produce a TV series, Conrad wanted the role, but wasn’t chosen because of his girth. The rumor that western icon John `Duke’ Wayne was offered the pivotal role of Dillon, but he turned it down and instead recommended his good friend Arness, has largely been debunked.

In addition to Dillon, the core characters are Miss Kitty Russell (Amanda Blake), owner of the Longbranch Saloon and Matt’s long-time love and lover; the crusty but sensitive Doctor Galen Adams (Milburn Stone); and Deputy Chester Goode (Dennis Weaver). Burt Reynolds also had a recurring role as Quint Asper from 1962-1965. Ken Curtis replaced Goode as `Matthew’s’ Deputy Festus Haggen, who portrayed the loveable deputy who couldn’t read from 1959 through the end of the series. Gunsmith then deputy Newly O’Brien (portrayed by Buck Taylor) moved to Dodge City in 1967 and remained until the show went off the air. Pat Hingle portrayed hard-nosed Doctor John Chapman for six episodes in 1971 when Milburn Stone left briefly for health reasons.

Arness and Stone remained through the series entire 20-year run, while Blake brilliantly portrayed the red-headed Kitty for 19 seasons.

Weekly guest stars represented the cream of the acting crop for decades! Here’s an example: Bette Davis, Victor French, Morgan Woodward, Jack Elam, Denver Pyle, Jeanette Nolan, Jim Davis, Warren Oates, Jacqueline Scott, George Kennedy, Ed Nelson, Michael Learned, Forrest Tucker, Paul Fix, Slim Pickens, Bruce Dern, Harry Morgan, Steve Forfest, Richard Kiley, Beverly Garland and Leonard Nimoy.

Here are the episodes included in this boxed set: Matt Gets It (Debut); Hot Spell; Word of Honor; Home Surgery; Obie Tater; Night Incident; Smoking Out the Nolans; Kite’s Reward; The Hunter; The Queue; General Parcley Smith; Magnus; Reed Survives; Professor Lute Bone; No Handcuffs; Reward for Matt; Robin Hood; Yorky; 20-20; Reunion ‘78; Helping Hand; Tap Day for Kitty; Indian Scout; The Pest Hole; The Big Board; Hack Prine; Cooter; The Killer; Doc’s Revenge; The Preacher; How to Die for Nothing; Dutch George; Prairie Happy; Chester’s Mail Order Bride; The Guitar; Cara; Mr. and Mrs. Amber; Unmarked Grave; and Alarm and Pleasant Valley.

After waiting so many years and being teased by three compliation releases, Gunsmoke is finally being released on DVD in a complete season package.

By releasing the first season of the show on DVD, Gunsmoke is finally being accorded the honor due it but first given to many other shows who didn’t last as long and/or weren’t nearly as good. The show didn’t last 20 years without capturing the imaginations of a lot of viewers. Back in 1955, CBS thought viewers were ready to see an adult Western – one that was not created and written for kids, but one that intended to tap into the large audiences that were rushing to theaters to see Gary Cooper, James Stewart, John Wayne, and Henry Fonda on the prairie.

Casting Wayne protege James Arness as Dodge City, Kansas US Marshal Matt Dillon, Gunsmoke set the stage for all of the great television Westerns that came after it, like Bonanza, The Rifleman, Cheyenne, and others. First, the hero or heroes were stalwart, salt-of-the earth types that resonated humanity and virtuosity, like Arness’ Dillon (and also set the stage for very tall leading men like Chuck Connors of The Rifleman and Clint Walker’s Cheyenne Bodie). Next, stock the show with a spectacular supporting cast – Milburn Stone as Doc, Amanda Blake as Kitty, and Dennis Weaver as deputy Chester Goode. Add a weekly blend of terrific guest stars, throw in superb writing and directing, and the Western television series had its blueprint. And television had one of its best shows of any genre.

I warmly recommend this DVD for anybody who wants to know more about crop circles. It is a thorough and cool-headed overview of the various aspects of this amazing phenomenon, and it also contains many beautiful shots of many of the most striking crop circles of recent years.

Don’t miss the DVD Extras! Some of the best material is in there, including much evidence of a big orchestrated campaign to discredit the phenomenon of crop circles as a mere hoax in the public eye.

Film maker William Gazecki does a fantastic job, and I am looking forward to whatever he does next.

“We’re being forced to consider that this universe has all kinds of intelligences all around us that we’ve been ignoring…mysterious other intelligences.” – From the DVD

Buy,Download, Or Stream Crop Circles – Quest for Truth! Click Here

Director William Gazecki highlights the science and art of crop circles in his 120 minute DVD Crop Circles: Quest for Truth. This levelheaded DVD interviews crop circle expert Colin Andrews as well as scientists and crop circle enthusiasts.

Before 1990, crop circles were simple and scattered. However, as time went on, they became increasingly complex in the form of insectograms, fractals, and other geometric patterns. In fact, at the crux of sacred geometry and crop circles is the Golden Mean, which is a ratio of “small to the large is large to the whole”.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Crop Circles – Quest for Truth! Click Here

Interviewees relate fascinating stories of crop circle sightings, including seeing infamous glowing balls that often float around the circles. For example, Andrews relays a story about flying over Stonehenge, photographing the stones, then going back to refuel the plane. On his way back-a mere 25 minutes later-there was a spiral crop circle amidst Stonehenge…in broad daylight!

There’s a liberal amount of science in the Crop Circles: Quest for Truth DVD. For example, scientists discuss how seeds from crop circle plants grow differently than the control group. According to one scientist, there had to be some kind of strong energy-perhaps microwave-pulse or plasma energy–to turn parts of full-grown corn into “exploded nodes”.

One fascinating account told of 109 circles made one rainy night-with nary a broken plant, footprint, or trail!

While hoaxsters make some crop circles, the question that many have is at 200+ crop circles every year, what is the payoff? No money is involved and supposed hoaxsters remain largely anonymous.

There are tons of extras in Crop Circles: Quest for Truth, including:

* Colin Andrews talks about the CIA (He says that they tried to get him to say it’s all a hoax)

* Mysterious magnetic particles left at the scene of circles

* Military helicopters arriving at the same time as the balls of light

* Extensive photo gallery of hundreds of crop circles

* Interview with the director

The best part of this DVD, in my opinion, is the jaw-dropping crop circles in the photo gallery. Whether made by man or something else, there’s no denying that these beautiful displays of organic art touch the soul and evoke feelings of wonder. A nice mix of science, speculation, experience, and intriguing footage, Crop Circles: Quest for Truth is a great DVD for those interested in the crop circle phenomenon. The crop circle photo gallery alone is well-worth the price!

Fail-safe is available for streaming or downloading.

Most books, even the great ones, unfortunately do not translate well onto the big screen. Fail Safe is a happy exception to the rule.

The story is now two generations old. Mechanical error sends six bombers towards the Soviet Union (remember them? they used to be our one mortal national enemy). The President and the government try all they can to recall them, to no avail.

Emotions understandibly run high. Men get stretched to the breaking point, and some snap. The President makes a terrible sacrifice, to convince the Russians that it WAS an accident. The price of this ticket it incredibly high.

Forget about the comparisons with Dr. Strangelove (which is a great movie in its own right). They belong together only by their contrasting styles.

This movie is chilling in Black & White. You will never think of J.R. Ewing again the same way, after seeing Larry Hagman in the role as the President’s translator.

Preceded and overshadowed by the film “Dr. Strangelove,” “Failsafe” provides a serious version of a nuclear weapons crisis between the United States and the Soviet Union. The plot in “Failsafe” is remarkably similar to it’s satrical cold-war counterpart with the National Command Authority having to prevent full scale nuclear war after one its bomber squadrons accidentally receives the “Go” code to strike Moscow. A computer communication malfunction at the US Air Force’s Strategic Air Command is the culprit, and within minutes, the President dispatches fighters to shoot down the bombers after his service chiefs recommend the course of action. The fighters are unsuccessful and the President begins working with the Soviet Premier to prevent the bombers from reaching their target. Under the President’s orders, SAC is on line with the Soviet High Command to help intercept the bombers. After one of his Air Force generals predicts the likelihood of a bomber getting through, the President seeks a solution to prevent nuclear retaliation, which provides a shocking ending to the story.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Fail-safe! Click Here

Stanley Kubrick’s “Dr. Strangelove” pulls no punches in its humor and portrayal of high-ranking government officials, its comedic treatment leaves viewers with the feeling that such a scenario would never come to life. “Failsafe” on the other hand projects a chilling atmosphere as the leaders and staffs of two major powers come to grips with the crisis, and overcome their cold-war rivalries to solve the problem.

The story is portrayed in four places; the President’s bunker, the Pentagon’s operations center, the SAC headquarters, and the cockpit of the flight commander leading his bombers into Russia. The big star in this feature is Henry Fonda as the President; his performance is so convincing that he probably could have run for office. Other standouts are Walter Matthau, the civilian advisor who is the “Devil’s Advocate” on the Pentagon staff, and Dan O’Herlihy as “Blacky,” an insightful Air Force general and old friend of the President, who is eventually called upon to carry out the President’s solution. The other significant player is Frank Overton as the SAC Commander, maintaining order in his headquarters while his air staff border on mutiny while assisting the Soviets in locating the bombers. There is Ed Binns as the bomber pilot, torn between his duties and doubts when the NCA and SAC attempt to recall him over open communication channels. Last but not least is Larry Hagman, who turns in a great performance as the President’s translator.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Fail-safe! Click Here

Included on the DVD is a bonus feature about the production of the movie, where the actors and writers discuss the movie’s plot and it’s similarity with “Dr. Strangelove” that resulted in a lawsuit. They also talk about having to bootleg footage for the aircraft depicted, because of lack of cooperation from the Air Force, resulting in most of the action represented on graphic display screens in the SAC headquarters and the Pentagon. Despite these constraints, they produced a movie that still puts viewers on the edge of their seats as time runs out with the bombers getting closer and closer to their target. The impact of the feature was enough to warrant a special message in the end credits to assure audiences that such an event could never occur.

It seemed that ever since the release of 1957’s THE ENEMY BELOW, World War II submarine movies enjoyed great popularity during the late 50s. This is one of the better ones directed by Gordon Douglas with stalwart James Garner and cautious Edmond O’Brien. The scenes around the Japanese held island are suspenseful and well filmed by Carl Guthrie. Richard Landau’s screenplay is pretty faithful to the novel by Robb White. It also features Edd Byrnes, Alan Hale Jr. and one of my favorite actors Warren Oates.

Well, folks, it was 1954. Not many of you were there, but speaking as someone who was 10 years old when he first saw this film, it was the “thing that dreams were made of.” You have to look at films from the early fifties without reference to what you get today. Good special effects meant that he studio fans actually blew all of the costumes in the same directions. The studio system was about to die. Movies paid the bills with star’s faces. A 10 year old went to see the story, and this is a great story. You can watch this movie. It isn’t history, or fantasy. It is just a lot of fun from a time when you could set through it a second time for free if you called you mom and asked her not to come get you for two more hours. Put this in your collection and you can watch it once a year and enjoy it. And if you really want historical accuracy, this film is it. It is just exactly what films were all about in 1954 before TV came along and shrunk everything into one syllable.

Three cheers to fellow reviewers who identified problems discerning adults will have with this film: the miscasting, the dull acting of Robert Taylor, the AWOL acting of Mel Ferrer, the bad accents, the lost plot threads (what about that Holy Grail?).

But for watching with a little boy, plastic sword in hand, this is great stuff. It’s good where it needs to be good: the action, particularly the battle scenes; the scenery; the costumes and weaponry. Moreover, the talk of honor is done seriously, and the Christian piety expressed is a very good thing (and a rare thing, too, in films these days). One can talk around the business of adultery and talk about trust and promises and love on the one hand, and gossip and intrigue on the other. Overall, a delightful film for the young; my six year old son and I will be seeing this a few times. Recommended.

My younger brother and I watched this cartoon growing up in the 1980s. Because it wasn’t a superblockbuster (GI JOE..etc) I am glad that it is being released on DVD.

Even though we never figured out why Iggy Nutmeg (the young boy in the “Heathcliff” segments) always was dressed up while Jennifer went casual and Grandma and Grandpa also looked (for their generation) informal, the series was great. Heathcliff was a cat who lived with the Nutmegs and, although generally well behaved, and wanting to impress his girlfriend Sonia (also a cat) got into trouble around the neighborhood.

He obviously wasn’t content with being just a housecat because Heathclif was always cooking up some kind of ‘get-rich-quick’ scheme, but the family always forgave him and loved him exactly for who he was.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats! Click Here

I loved the car which the Cadilac Cats had, it litterally changed into anything. Sure they lived in a junkyard and knew how to fend for themselves if need be, but the Cadilac Cats weren’t hooligans. They were usually well-mannered cats and their leader Rif-Raf, honestly wanted nothing more than to be with his beloved Cleo, who worked at a music store. Plus (again to the perspective of a little kid) their makeshift house from an old airplane looked really cool.

I hope that whoever took the initiative to bring the series to DVD also included the theme song. Many years later, the lyrics and beat are still memorable.

i loved heathcliff growing up. the show always made me laugh.it is a shame that the cartoons of today are nothing like what i watched growing up.Heathcliff is a cat that thinks he owns the street where he lives with family. Heathcliff gets into all kind of trouble. the second half of the show is with the catillac cats who live at the dump on heathcilffs street. the gang is run by Riff Raff who has the hots for Cloe who lives in a music shop with a dog named Butch. Between heathcliff and riff raff you never no what is going to happen.

A Christmas Wish is a heartwarming holiday classic that truly captures the magic of Christmas. This well-written film combines a genial underdog (Durante) whom you can’t help rooting for, an inspiring tale of young love, unforgettable comedy bits by Durante, and an irresistible guardian angel who saves Christmas.

Buy,Download, Or Stream A Christmas Wish! Click Here

The film has a touching love story between Terry Moore (Mighty Joe Young) and Tom Drake (Meet Me in St. Louis). Rupert the Squirrel (created using George Pal’s Academy Award winning puppet animation technique) will charm young and old alike. Jimmy Durante shines when he sings Jingle Bells and other Christmas Carols.

Originally titled “The Great Rupert”, this film has been restored perfectly and is being released in color for the first time. It looks absolutely beautiful. There also is an engaging special DVD commentary by star Terry Moore (secret wife of Howard Hughes). If you’ve already seen It’s a Wonderful Life and are looking for something charming and new for Christmas, this is a great choice.

When a slightly miserly landlord takes to hiding his savings he inadverdently intrudes into a squirrel’s nest–which wastes no time in shoving the money out of his nest and into the hands of the down-on-their-luck Amendola family, who rent an apartment below. Originally released under the title of THE GREAT RUPERT, in 1950 the film was primarily admired for its then-artful blend of live action and puppet animation to create Rupert, the squirrel; today, however, it is best regarded as a very mild mannered and entirely inoffensive little movie that just happens to offer the legendary Jimmy Durante one of his final film roles.

The script and story are as memorable as school cafeteria banana pudding, but the performances are reasonably engaging. As head of Amendola family, Durante is brash is only Durante could be, doing doubletakes and pounding out an occasional tune on the piano in his unique style. He is well supported by the likes of Terry Moore, Tom Drake, and such veteran character actors as Queenie Smith, Frank Orth, Sara Haden, and Jimmy Conlin. It’s all in good fun.

The 20th Century Fox release consists of two versions of the film: the original black and white and a colorized version. There is nothing visually impressive about the film, so it is not hurt by colorization per se; as for the colorization, it is reasonably well done, at least so far as such effects go. Most astonishingly, the release includes a commentary track by Terry Moore and various people associated with the colorization and the DVD release.

The commentary track is not tremendously informative; Moore freely admits that she had seen the film only once before, and that some fifteen years earlier. Even so, Moore proves good company, offers the occasional insight into the cast, and now and then proves unwittingly amusing–with her comments on actor Tom Drake, who was both gay and deeply closeted, a case in point. On the whole, I’d say the commentary is actually more engaging than the film itself, but whatever the case Durante fans, Moore fans, and those in search of truly innocent family fare should find it pleasing.
