“The Dirty Dozen”, Robert Aldrich’s 1967 adventure classic, would redefine a whole genre of films, as public attitudes towards warfare and heroism changed, due to Vietnam. With ‘heroes’ who were certainly not noble, a mission that would require a level of cruelty film audiences had never before seen from American fighting men, and graphic language and bloodshed, the impact of the the film was both immediate (despite huge ‘box office’, many critics panned the film as ‘disturbing’ and glorifying violence), and continuing (influencing films as diverse as “Patton” and “Saving Private Ryan”). It can be viewed at many levels, as a crackling good adventure yarn, an ‘anti-establishment’ and anti-war statement, the ultimate ‘buddy’ film…few films have generated as much controversy, or stood the passage of time, better!

Based on E.M. Nathanson’s novel (of rumored ‘Death Row’ convicts offered a pardon or reduction of sentence for volunteering for a suicide mission), with a large dash of the Pathfinders’ legendary “Filthy Thirteen” of WWII tossed in, the property was purchased as a potential starring vehicle for John Wayne. The Duke passed on the project, however (choosing to make “The Green Berets”, instead). Director Aldrich never envisioned Wayne in the lead, preferring WWII Marine vet Lee Marvin in the complex role of maverick Maj. John Reisman, and the actor, fresh from winning an Oscar for “Cat Ballou”, was dead-on perfect in the part. Veteran stars Ernest Borgnine, Robert Ryan, Ralph Meeker, Robert Webber, George Kennedy, and Richard Jaeckel were cast as Marvin’s military allies and adversaries.

For the “Front Six” of the Dozen, sullen Charles Bronson (another WWII vet), John Cassavetes (who would garner an Oscar nomination), Telly Savalas (in the most ‘whacked-out’ role in his career), Clint Walker (of “Cheyenne” TV fame), football legend Jim Brown (in only his second film), and popular singer Trini Lopez (in his film debut) would dominate the screen time, with a “Back Six” of character actors in much smaller roles, simply filling out the rest of the twelve parts. But a movie ‘miracle’ occurred; when Walker objected to a scene where, as a bogus ‘General’, he would idiotically review an Airborne unit (feeling it demeaned Native Americans, who his character portrayed), Aldrich passed the scene to “Back Six” actor Donald Sutherland…and the scene would spectacularly launch his career, leading to his starring role in “M.A.S.H.”

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Dirty Dozen! Click Here

Aldrich’s meticulous shooting style, and the often rainy British weather (where the film was shot), more than doubled the shooting schedule, and after seven months on location, Trini Lopez (on the advice of friend Frank Sinatra), informed Aldrich and the producers that he was missing singing dates, and would need a pay hike to continue. To Lopez’ surprise, Aldrich ‘dropped’ him, having him die in the climactic parachute drop!

The director was warned that if he didn’t eliminate the film’s most controversial scene (pouring gasoline and dropping grenades on the women guests, as well as the Nazi officers seeking refuge in the bomb shelters), he would lose any chance of a ‘Best Director’ Oscar. After soul-searching, he left the scene in (”War is Hell, and HAS to be portrayed that way”), and while he sacrificed the prize, Robert Aldrich gave the film a brutal honesty that subsequent wars would sadly verify.

With loads of Disc Two Special Features that open up the film and gives an insight into why it has become a ‘classic’ (including the first “Dirty Dozen” TV ’sequel’, a Lee Marvin Marine ‘Leadership’ training film, and an astonishing documentary on the “Filthy Thirteen”), it is absolutely an essential for any ‘War Film’ library.

“The Dirty Dozen” survived contemporary criticism, and has proven to be one of the most enduring war films of all time, as fresh today as when it debuted in 1967.

Wow…this HD presentation captures everything, including (much maligned) film grain. It is most likely a better presentation than this film had when originally released to theaters. Visuals are wonderfully clear, the print is exceptionally clean and the sound, for a movie almost 40 years old, is top shelf. This is definitely the version to own!!

This was my favorite TV series in the 1960s. While sometimes derided by serious Sci-Fi fans, Voyage was very successful in its day, and actually lasted a season longer than Star Trek. The casting of Richard Basehart was a real coup, and David Hedison, who turned down the Captain Crane role in the VTTBOTS movie, came aboard in the TV show. Featuring special effects that still hold up today, VTTBOTS originally started out as serious sci-fi, whose first season episodes still stand tall with the best of TV sci-fi. The second season brought color episodes, a re-designed Seaview, and a new invention, the Flying Sub, to help expand the action. As often happened with Irwin Allen’s shows, writing became spotty as time went on. Solid sci-fi stories were often sandwiched between “monster of the week” shows. Even the cast was surprised when the show was picked up for a fourth season. From what I’ve read, Basehart was anxious to get out of the grind of a TV series, and frankly back into what he considered serious acting. So one will notice an episode or two where he’s absent, or obviously being doubled (the episode with the giant sea spider and the hyper fast submarine was one where he was doubled, and he literally duped his lines). There’s also another episode where Basehart’s son John had a guest part (playing a crewman named “Johnson”. Get it? John? Basehart’s son?).

I had the pleasure of meeting David Hedison at a convention a few years back. He recounted many fine stories about Voyage, including his relationship with Basehart, working with Irwin Allen, and his years as Captain of the Seaview.

I have waited a long time for this to come out on DVD. I am glad to see it is finally going to hit the DVD shelves!

A number of previous reviewers have reported skipping and freezing problems with this set of DVDs, some reporting mailing back their DVDs repeatedly in the hope of obtaining a set which wasn’t defective. A previous reviewer recommended that potential buyers contact Fox home entertainment and plead with them to fix the DVDs to correct this problem, so I did. Their phone number is 1 877 369-7867, by the way. So much for pleading; after some discussion, I finally convinced the telephone attendant to inquire about problems with these DVDs. After less than a minute on hold, she came back on and reported that they have no record of any problems existing with these disks and no record of any returns. All that she could assure me of is that if I purchased a defective set, I could return them. Conclusion: Not only does the skipping problem remain unaddressed but no one is even paying attention. Sometimes the only power that the consumer has is to NOT purchase a shoddy product. I’ll wait a few years – maybe they’ll get it right on whatever format will follow DVD. You can always try calling them also. If the response I got is any indication, you’re probably wasting your time, however.

This is a great movie about the fourth generation of house music. Anyone who believes that House music was created in LA is sadly mistaken. House music was developed in the houses, garages and clubs of Chicago and Detroit, not Los Angele,s and it was produced for local club-goers in the “underground” club scenes, rather than for widespread commercial release. As a result, the recordings were much more conceptual, longer than the music usually played on commercial radio. House, techno, electro and hip-hop musicians used analog synthesizers and sequencers to create and arrange the electronic elements and samples on their tracks. House music “humanized” the new electronic instruments by combining live traditional instruments and percussion and soulful vocals with preprogrammed electronic synthesizers and “beat-boxes”.

The second phase occurred when New York started to create house music. The style of New York house was a little more polished and got the attention of Europe. Italy and the UK started some brilliant house music and then game Germany and Techno.

Techno took the sound and perverted it by increasing the BPM count into something that was not enjoyable to anyone not on X. I used to throw some of the original raves in South Florida and it started becoming more about the drugs and not the music. House was in a bad funk for about 10 years. In recent years, starting in the late 90’s, DJs and artists such as Miguel Miggs, Blue Six, Aya and others have brought back melodies and rhythms to house. Along with labels such as Hed Kandi, Lazy Dog and others they have ushered in a new and strong fourth age of house.

The Rough Guide to House Music

There’s a whole new type of dance music being created by DJs in clubs around the world and it’s NOT Hip-hop! It’s “House Music” which is long continuous dance tracks created by DJs in clubs. I didn’t even know where the word “house” came from until I saw this really well done documentary by a first time director. (It came from the fact that it started in an LA club called “The Warehouse”, and the music style was shortened to ‘house.)

This is not your typical Hip Hop scratching DJ. These guys (and ladies, as there are females as well) blend sounds and beats to form INSTRUMENTAL soundscapes. It’s a huge world-wide phenomenon. The interviews with the DJs are ARTICULATE and these guys (and gals) are mostly in their 30s or 40s (or so it appears. This music was new to me but I now understand it thanks to this film. If I had one suggestion it would be to shorten it by about 20 minutes as a few parts are repetitive but, I’m still impressed by the way the story goes. Much of it was filmed at a huge annual House Music Conference in Miami. Parents should be aware that there are some gratuitous shots of topless women on hotel balconies not mentioned on the box. Nice “eye candy” but you should know it’s there.

I found this even more interesting than the film a few years ago about turntablists “Scratch”. Give it a shot. The supplemental materials have extended interviews.

I am floored. I didn’t think it was possible for Pixar to surpass Toy Story, but it has. A sophisticated treat for adults and teens, a cuddly romance for the juice-box set, this comedic science fiction thriller romance (really!) takes the company to a new, more mature level. Filled with artistry, depth, meaning and a lot of humor, WALL-E is a masterpiece. Where Cars was a kid’s movie with added adult themes, this is an adult movie with added value for children.

DIALOGUE SCHMIALOGUE

Before I saw WALL-E I had read about the lack of dialogue, and how it might be a risky move for Pixar to make a film with characters that don’t talk in a traditional sense. Well, trash that. The most emotionally powerful scenes in this movie are those with the LEAST dialogue. Fully developed and indeed almost human, the two main characters are Wall-E himself (the letters stand for Waste Allocation Load Lifter-Earth Class; there’s also a WALL-A) and EVE (Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator), two machines in love.

After about a half hour I was wondering if Pixar could continue to pull off this less-is-more concept for the rest of the film — then the two robots started playing Pong! Such imaginative screenplay carries the film to what should be a Best Picture nomination. Seriously.

A TOUCHING STORY

WALL-E is a lonely little robotic trash compactor who was left behind after Earth was abandoned some 700 years earlier. He has been methodically cleaning up the trash-ridden planet ever since, and harboring a tiny plant he has found among the garbage. Eve, meanwhile, lives on the immense spaceship Axiom, which is also home to the fat, blob-like remains of the human race. She is a probe robot that flies to Earth to determine if the planet is ready for habitation. WALL-E takes one look at the streamlined, angelic Eve and falls in love.

It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the little robot. As soon as he giggled (after his pet cockroach tickled him) I was hooked. This hardworking rusty guy with his small home full of collected treasures is so poignant. His lonely life is so human. Eve is just as likable, but much more sleek. Near the end comes a heartbreaking moment when a key character seems to lose all personality, all self. So well done, it made me think of how families must feel when a loved one disappears inside him- or herself with Alzheimer’s disease.

All ends well, of course. As the credits roll, the artwork illustrates how everyone and everything lives happily after ever.

AN ADULT MEANING

For adults, WALL-E is not so much about a cute little robot as it is about the future of man. What happens when humans become such creatures of the consumer culture, so fat they can’t even stand up without assistance, living literally on auto-pilot, that they do nothing but buy cheap merchandise, stuff their faces at the Regurgitated Food Buffet and lie around watching video screens? Can they ever get back to the land and set their souls free? Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young asked that question decades ago; Pixar asks it today.

There is even a sly political reference. Broadcasting a message to the passengers of the spaceship, the CEO of monster corporation Buy ‘n’ Large — played in live-action by the inimitable Fred Willard, and named Shelby Forthright — says they will be continuing on their never-ending, hopeless cruise to nowhere because they must “Stay the course!” Hmmm, haven’t I heard a president use that line?

EXTRA TOUCHES

WALL-E has so many wonderful touches! After the little robot is charged using his solar panels, he “turns on” with a sound any Macintosh owner will recognize. The robot’s collected objects, much like the thingamabobs of The Little Mermaid’s Ariel, are things that are uniquely human: bubble wrap, an iPod, a Rubics cube, a singing plastic trophy fish and — blink and you’ll miss it — a carrousel horse from Walt Disney World. Especially inspired are the two things on this future Earth that are totally indestructible: a cockroach and Twinkies.

Stay for the credits. Recalling cave drawings, hieroglyphics, Monet and Van Gogh paintings and early computer graphics, the progressive sequence of art within them sneaks in the history of dialogue-free storytelling.

ANIMATED? REALLY?

The look of the movie is hard to describe. In one scene, when WALL-E and EVE are investigating a piece of bubble wrap, you can’t tell it is an animated film. It actually appears to be live-action. Likewise, the outer space scenes have the same level of realism as any of the Star Wars movies. The trailing tower of squiggly smoke that’s left behind by a launching spacecraft re-creates the Florida sky of a Space Shuttle launch to a T. For the most part, it is only when humans are portrayed that you are consciously aware that what you’re watching was generated on circuit boards, not in cameras.

I’ve seen the movie three times, first in digital projection and then from a film projector. The digital showing was much sharper, which made all the realistic touches far easier to appreciate.

MOVIE REFERENCES

It’s obvious the Pixar folks are movie lovers; there are so many cinematic inspirations in WALL-E that I lost count. The “Put On Your Sunday Clothes” sequence from Hello, Dolly! shows up — literally — maybe half a dozen times. (Disney World fans may also remember the song as one of the background melodies along Main Street U.S.A.) The Axiom spaceship’s computer is clearly an homage to HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey; that film’s signature overture “Also Sprach Zarathustra” plays at a key moment. WALL-E himself combines the purrs of E.T., the attitude of R2-D2 and the moves of Charlie Chaplin. There’s a brief reference to Titanic.

OPENING CARTOON

The movie is preceded by a Pixar short, “Presto,” that had the entire audience I was sitting with in stitches. Its plot: When a magician neglects to feed his bunny a carrot, an escalating disaster results. It’s so nice to start a feature with a cartoon. I wish other studios still did it. (Disney fans will note the magician’s hat is similar to the one used by Mickey Mouse in Fantasia.)

SOUVENIR TOY

Might as well budget it in: if you take your kids to see this you’re going to be buying a souvenir. Here’s the coolest one I’ve found on Amazon: U Command Wall-E.

Will it ever run out? This continuous font of imagination from Pixar? With WALL-E, it sure doesn’t look like it.

New York Ripper is, without a doubt, the sleaziest, seediest, most sadistic film I have ever seen, and believe me, I’ve seen some filth. Most likely, if you’re a Fulci fan, this is one you don’t want to miss. It captures the essence of Fulci’s madness perfectly. Throats are slashed to ribbons, blood spurts and sprays like geysers, eyeballs are sliced, broken bottles are used inappropriately, and I haven’t even mentioned the REALLY extreme stuff.

To my surprise, this Fulci feature actually has a coherent plot. Not the most complex or original plot, but a plot nonetheless. Without revealing too much, I can say that the basic structure involves a deranged killer(duh) who mutilates beautiful girls in the clasic giallo style (all we see is the killer’s gloved, knife wielding hand)all over New York City. However, the reasoning behind these murders is actually very interesting, if not a bit contrived. There is also the cliche, hard-boiled, chain-smoking detective who is on the case, with the obligatory interaction between him and the murderer.

What I really like about this movie are the vintage shots of 42nd Street in New York, the seedy locals (run down hotel rooms, live sex shows, vagrant apartments, etc.), and the music, which reminds me of old-school Hill Street Blues mixed in with generic funky rhythms. The camera work is really good, and at times experimental. Often, the color schemes remind me of Dario Argento’s work.

If these reasons aren’t enough for you to check out this film, what if I told you that the killer quacks and talks as if he or she were a duck?

This film is very unique for horror master Lucia Fulci. One of few slasher films that the artist made, this masterpiece takes the viewer through a “who done it” rollarcoatser, Fulci style. As with all Fulci films, it will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end, and then leave you a little confused. Of course, as Fulci’s trade mark, the film has great gore effects. Now uncut and in widescreen the film is even better.

I watched RG Veda on VHS over 7 years ago, and it was one of the first anime I had ever seen. I remember going back to my video store and renting it again and again because it was so good. RG Veda is a fantasy anime what had enormous potential to be a great series, but sadly was cut short (Does anyone know why that happened?).

Buy,Download, Or Stream RG Veda! Click Here

The animation was gorgeous, as is to be expected from the people at CLAMP. The story was original and entertaining. The story had 4 main characters, a princess, a prince, a king and a queen from 4 different realms, and each with extraordinary abilities. They joined forces to fight a common enemy that was threatening their respective kingdoms (I’m sorry I can’t remember more. It has been years since I have watched this). The action is terrific and the voice acting (Japanese) was supberb.

Like other reviewers have stated it is sad that RG Veda is so short and obviously unfinished. I really believe this one could have been a fantastic series. If some of you remember, the same thing happened to the Guyver series although it did get considerably further than RG Veda in epsiodes. It’s very short, but it is sweet. Hopefully there is a manga out there of this series so that those of us that have watched this can continue on with the books.

It’s been a long time since I watched this series. Based on the manga series by CLAMP, the animé is actually a little different in feel from the manga. Unfortunately, only two OAVs were ever produced (to my knowledge), both of which illustrate key points in the manga series, but without knowledge of the manga, this series may not be entirely interesting for some people. However, at the same time, it may interest people to look into the manga (like me!) to find out more.

CLAMP’s drawing style is quite unmistakeable; especially the eyes, and I have to admit to being rather partial to their style. The animation quality in the OAV is a bit of an odd mix however using a combination of some very nicely detailed shots, combined with camera pans over less detailed still drawings. Definitely not a high budget production, but using the budget in an innovative manner. The music is a bit unusual; rather dark in places, and makes heavy use of a synthesizer, but is still well done. The translations are also decent although there is occasionally a bit of awkward wording due to literal translations. The story while interesting on its own leaves many, many questions which are not answered unless you go to the manga series (ex. just who is Kujaku? ) Unfortunately, these questions won’t be answered in the anime. There is a brief background narrative at the beginning of the episode which helps to fill in some of the history which passed and gives the viewer a starting point. Otherwise my only problem with the animation, was that I find the concept of exchanging looks in animé just looks too contrived.

“The American President” is a terrific movie about politics, romance, sex, and real life. Michael Douglas leads a terrific cast of characters that I love to hear talk to each other over and over again. I’ve seen this movie so many times, I nearly have it memorized. President Andy Sheppard (Douglas) is having problems pushing his crime bill through Congress, but those problems intensify when he finds himself falling for the beautiful environmental lobbyist Sydney Ellen Wade (Annette Bening). The press is all over them from every angle, and Sheppard’s 63% approval rating is dropping like a rock. The romance in this story is sweet, but it takes second place to the witty dialogue written by “Sports Night” creator Aaron Sorkin, which makes every character equally enjoyable. Martin Sheen should have won an Oscar for his performance as White House Chief of Staff A.J. Mackinerny, and Michael J. Fox is terrific as Louis Rothchild, who delivers a great speech in the film. The two leads, Douglas and Bening, are great together, and for every moment they are on the screen together, we forget that we’re watching a movie. Rob Reiner does a terrific directing job, and turns out a movie that surpasses “When Harry Met Sally.”

Everyone knows this is a terrific movie! Those of us who are also DVD fans have waited a couple of years for this to appear on DVD. What a let down!! Rob, where are you man!!!

This a poor transfer with lots of artifacts and someone trying too hard to sharpen the image. To make matters worse this disc has very limited extras. Ok, it’s out so let’s move to the “collector’s edition” so Warner can get a few more bucks and we can get a disc more worthy of this great movie!!

Movie Title: Red Dwarf – Series 7
Average customer review:

Red Dwarf – Series 7 is available for streaming or downloading.

Click Here to Stream or Download Red Dwarf – Series 7

Red Dwarf Series VII is very different than any Red Dwarf to come before it. Rob Grant, half of the team that till then had created and written all Red Dwarf episodes, left the show and the strain on remaining writer Doug Naylor clearly shows. Some of the writing slack is taken up by others, including Robert Llewellyn (Kryten), who has written a few successful books on his own, but the feel of the show is never the same from here on out. The humor is now less dense and arguably less sharp at times, and the situations in which the characters find themselves often do not have the same comedic quality of the older shows. Additionally, Chloe Annett is introduced as Kochanski. While competent, she is far different than any of the actesses that originated the part like C.P. Grogan, and her addition to the cast takes time away from funnier established characters, like the Cat, who is brilliantly played by Danny John-Jules. To add to the list of unwanted changes, Chris Barrie was not fully available for this series and so is absent much of the time.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Red Dwarf – Series 7! Click Here

That said, if you love Red Dwarf, you’ll probably feel obligated to own these later shows anyway. There are still occasional brilliant moments, and the cast is still funny and committed to their roles, even if the writing is now very uneven. Series VII is better than Series VIII, which takes Red Dwarf even further away from it’s original comedic fundamentals.

As in Series VI, in Series VII the crew are still living aboard Starbug and still chasing the trail of their larger mother ship, the Red Dwarf. Episodes in Series VII are:

Buy,Download, Or Stream Red Dwarf – Series 7! Click Here

1. Tikka To Ride

Lister ignores Kryten’s warnings about the hazards of time travel and takes the crew on a quest for more curry that will change history.

2. Stoke Me A Clipper

Ace Rimmer returns to Red Dwarf to enlist the aid of Arnold Rimmer to continue his galactic fight for justice. Can Arnold actually be up to the challenge of becoming the greatest hero in the multi-verse?

3. Ouroboros

Lister discovers his true origins in a well-written episode full of paradox.

4. Duct Soup

Lister tries to make Kochanski feel at home and Kryten becomes a wee bit jealous, with expected comedic results.

5. Blue

Lister actually finds he misses Rimmer and Kryten invents a creative and hilarious solution to the problem.

6. Beyond a Joke

The search for spare heads for Kryten leads the crew to a dangerous encounter with Simulants and GELFS.

7. Epideme

A deadly and sentient virus infects Lister and drastic measures are needed to destroy it.

8. Nanarchy

Kryten’s “nanobots” (microscopic robots) are found to be the culprits in the disappearance of their home ship, Red Dwarf, and may also provide a solution the disability with which Lister was left after the previous episode.

In spite of all the changes to the show after Series VI, Red Dwarf Series VII is still better than most anything else on television. It’s only when one compares it to earlier Red Dwarf that it seems disappointing. Previous Red Dwarf DVD releases have had excellent extra features, with hilarious outtakes (Smeg Ups), featurettes, hidden features, deleted scenes, and more and this set will be no exception. There’s also a “lost episode” called Identity Within, performed by Chris Barrie and raw footage included in the extra features, so Red Dwarf fans will find plenty to love on this release.

So Red Dwarf 7 is almost upon us, this one being one of the most debatable ones of the entire series. Grant Naylor becomes half the man he used to be in this series (Grant Naylor is a made up person from Rob Grant and Doug Naylor, the two writers of Red Dwarf who have a bit of a spat and split up so only one of them writes this series), Rimmer decides to leave (Chris Barrie was in others things and decided to leave) and Kochanski comes back, but in a different form (Claire Grogran was on MTV and they get Chloe Annette instead).

This doesn’t sound a great start to begin with, and to be honest with you I do think this is the weakest series so far. However I do think they other series are all fantastic so being the weakest means this is only good (of course I should point out I am a major fan!)

The episodes are:

1. Tikka To Ride

2. Stoke Me A Clipper

3. Ouroboros

4. Duct Soup

5. Blue

6. Beyond a Joke

7. Epideme

8. Nanarchy

This series takes Red Dwarf in a different way to the rest – of course it would have to with Rimmer leaving and Kochanski coming back – but I still enjoyed it.

The depressing thing about this series is that after this one we only have the final series 8 to look forward to and hope that they manage to finish the film by the time that is out so we can enjoy more Dwarf!

Overall 4/5, less then the other series (5/5 for all the rest IMHO) but still very funny and better then most other series out there.

My favourite episodes are probably the Tikka to Ride, where they run out of curry and travel back in time to Dallas, 1961 and beam into a book depository… (not saying any more then that – you can watch it to find out) and Blue just for the Arnold Rimmer song (He’s Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer Without him, life would be much grimmer He’s handsome, trim, and no one’s slimmer He will never need a Zimmer He’s Arnold, Arnold, Arnold Rimmer)

In short, if you have all the other series, buy this one. If not… go buy them first, THEN buy this one :)

This DVD is not out in stores yet, but I have seen all the episodes in here and are going to focus on one…The Big Book About Us is a good episode for your kids to learn about favorites, learn some of Joe’s favorite things, and learn a little bit about bookmaking. Then we come to the 100th Day episode. This episode mostly takes place on a stage built in the back of Joe’s living room. It contains a very bouncy song entitled “100 Days” and creates the feeling for your kids that they are at a very big gala party, complete with montages of snippets of episodes (some of which, to my knowledge, haven’t been released yet- maybe they all will be by the time this DVD is released) The only problem here is that if you’re hoping for a usual Blue’s Clues episode, you aren’t getting it. There is no game of Blue’s Clues, none of the songs from the new show are played except for “We Sat On Down” during a montage, and there is even a misleading part where Mr. Salt asks Blue what her favorite part has been about the first 100 episodes, and she places a pawprint on the screen. Is it time for a game of Blue’s Clues? No, just a montage of clues that have been found already. This episode is a good way for your child to remember all the fun he’s had, but if he doesn’t understand the concept of 100 days, skip it.

I was nervous when it was anounced that Steve was leaving but, true to form, the folks at Nick Jr. conjured up a wonderful transition from Steve to Joe. Make sure to watch the 100th episode celebration in the extra featues. My kids (2 and 4) love it. Even though my 4 year old had been watching Steve for two years, she now loves Joe.
