Customer Reviews:

Good toy w/low wieght limit4
My daughter is 8 and is finally able to use this w/out the base, however she has also surpassed the 60lb weight limit. She is also too tall for it now, she has to bend over to use it. It is a very good pogo stick for starters, the base gives them more balance, just don’t expect your child to use it for a long time. It is very durable, we received a recall repair kit shortly after we bought it (4 years ago) and it has held up and we have had no problems. I highly recommend this as a starter pogo stick

Very low weight limit!3
There is a 60 pound weight limit on this pogo stick. My son is almost 6 and he’s tall so he’s already at 60 pounds. So far it works ok, but I dont know how long he’ll be able to use it. Certainly not until he’s 10, like the write up says.

The toy is also very noisy when used. And after a few bounces my son gets tired of it.

Great Starter Pogo5
When my four-year old grandson asked for a pogo stick for Cristmas, I couldn’t imagine how he would be able to use one. Finding this was the answer. It grows with the child’s ability and can be used as young as they are interested. It is well constructed and very sturdy. This is a great toy.

From the Manufacturer
Here?s an update on a kid favorite classic that brings Big Pogo Fun down to size for kids as young as 5 years. The Fisher-Price? Grow to Pro? Pogo stick has an extra big base that helps beginners balance and gives them the confidence they need to ?stick w

Garmin 205 vs. the Garmin 2014
I’ve run 4 times a week with the Garmin 201 for the past 2 years so I was anxious to get the 205. After 10 runs with the 205 (some runs with both) here is my take on the new 205:

Pros:
- better form factor (although still big and same weight as the 201)
- Buttons are more intuitive (less guessing in the dark)
- More accurate – If I run the same run 3 times (e.g. a regular 6 miler) all 3 distances are within .02-.09… the 201 varied by as much as .3 miles. The 205 also appears to be more accurate according to “known distances”
- Less satellite drops compared to the 201 (although see the BIG con below!)
- The strap is rubber so it doesn’t act as a sweat band (the 201 was harder to clean and smelled for weeks after a marathon)
- Better software

CONS:
- Fonts are smaller (especially on history and other screens)
- The strap is rubber and doesn’t fit as well as the cloth/Velcro on the 201 (although the pro I think outweighs the con!)
- BIG CON: On one regular run along the bay in San Francisco (no hills, trees, or buildings) the 205 lost satellite in a “usual” area (common for my 201 to drop in the same place) one mile into the run, but the 205 never recovered during the whole run. So the 205 doesn’t drop satellites as much, but when it does it might not recover – this is a fatal issue if it continues (note: the 201 drops often, but always recovers right away).

Overall I would still highly recommend the unit. I definitely prefer to run with the 205 instead of the 201. I will be watching the drop-recover issue carefully to see if others report a similar problem.

Well worth the extra cost!!!5
I wrote an extensive six-part review comparing the Garmin Forerunner 205 with my older Garmin Forerunner 201. Here is the URL to the first part and you can find links at the bottom to the other parts:[...]

If you don’t want to read the full reviews then here is a summary of my likes and dislikes:

Likes

* Comfort and Form factor: Usage model is very important and while the 205 is big, it feels and wears like a wrist watch. The plastic strap is more comfortable than the 201’s velco strap, and the unit also comes with an extension strap if you need to bundle up and wear it outside your clothing. Personally, I want to look at my watch for instant data (i.e. time, pace, distance, etc) and feedback so I’m unwilling to place a device on my upper arm even if I have to sacrifice accuracy. In terms of form factor, the lap and start/stop buttons are well placed and sized on the face of the watch.
* GPS Accuracy: The Garmin Forerunner 205’s GPS receiver seemed much stronger. I can lock onto a signal inside my house next to a window, I haven’t received one weak signal in a week over routes that caused my 201 trouble. And on my one run over a tree-covered, GPS signal-challenging course, the 205 came out a star, finally allowing me to measure a route that I was unable to with my 201. The GPS accuracy data field and the satellite acquisition screen are also cool bonuses.
* Customization: The 205 allows you to customize 2 main screens and a third activity specific (i.e. run, bike or other) one with 1 to 4 data fields per screen. This is very cool, especially for data-driven geeks like myself. Another great thing about all the Forerunners is you can customize screens and settings on the fly without interrupting your current activity.
* Real-Time Pacing: I’m not that interested in knowing how fast I’m going at a specific moment in time so never was a big fan of the “real-time” pacing feature of the 201. With that said, the 205 seemed to be more consistent and showed a tighter range of paces. It also seemed closer to how fast I felt I was going relevant to the current conditions (i.e. uphill, downhill, flat) than the 201, which showed a lot of variation and lag.
* USB Cradle: Charging and uploading via USB is a nice. Much faster than the 201’s serial port.

Dislikes

* Display: The display of the 205 seems smaller and the history screens are dark and hard to read. I wish they didn’t use the shading and just had the plain background.
* Real-time elevation: For me this isn’t a big deal, but the “real-time” elevation reading lags on the 205. It seems to tie closely with GPS accuracy. For example, after I finish my runs I’ll usually walk a little in my backyard to cool down. The real-time elevation reading will then “catch up” to the correct elevation.
* Buttons: My broken power button seems to be an anomaly so far since I haven’t read of others with the same problem. With that said, the side buttons seems a bit stiff to me.
* Battery indicator: It just shows 4 vertical bars. I liked the feature on the 201 where it told you how many hours of charge were left when you powered it on.

Cool Stuff

* Tons of features: There are a lot of things the 205 can do such as import courses, advanced workouts, virtual partner and a bunch of other features that I need to explore

Wishlist

* Reduce form factor
* Color screen
* Increase battery life
* Improve waterproofing/water resistance
* Add wireless connectivity for uploading and downloading data and information over the air to PC or mobile service

Fantastic!5
I purchased the 205 to mainly get an idea as to how far I was running. This is my first training GPS device. I figured the circuit I ran was about 5k. To my pleasant surprise the 205 told me I was doing 3k more than I estimated so that was great news to me! But the 205 did not stop there. Read on….

If you are anything like me the runs I do at 5:30a on the weekdays are not as strong as the ones I do at 8a on the weekend. A couple hours of extra sleep seems to make a lot of difference. On Saturday I ran my 8k circuit at 8a and came in at a good time (for me). I saved the 8k circuit as a “course” in the 205. The Training Center software that comes with the 205 allows for fairly easy editing of the course adding in markers on when to turn, valleys/summits and saving the course back to the 205. This morning (5:30a) I started the 8k “course” in the 205. Straight away I could go to the navigation page and with the “virtual partner” function turned on there I was racing my(virtual)self! What fun! As expected I could not keep up with my(virtual)self and based on when my(virtual)self would start to break away I knew I had to put on more power. Without a doubt the virtual partner function is going to help me improve my early morning weekday runs. While I intellectually understood the benefit of the virtual partner function until I actually used it I didn’t appreciate what difference this function will have on my training.

[Update Dec 2006: The virtual partner function has indeed improved my training. I have shaved 6 minutes off my 8k run since I bought the 205. Each time I make a new PR I save that as the course and work against that on subsequent runs. At worst I try and keep pace with myself. At best I beat myself!]

I find the 205 to have fairly good ability to get satellite signal. I can turn it on in our house (2 story with me on the ground floor) and get a signal. But overhead tree cover does seem to affect the current pace accuracy (see my nits below).

The integration with Google Earth and Maps is incredible. I can save the images as JPGs and post them to my blog so every one can see where I’ve been. Tres cool!

As I mentioned earlier the Training Center software that comes on the CD with the 205 is good. However, I would recommend going to Motion Based whose URL is provided in a flier that is packaged in the 205. I really like MB and you can check out other people’s GPS data/times.

Now that I covered what was important to me there do seem to be some minor nits with the device that I noticed and I see other people have already commented on. The nits I would like to see corrected:

- the extensive menu navigation. There has to be a way to simplify the menu depth and make it a little more intuitive.

- current pace is negatively affected by overhead obstructions. On my 15k I run down a trail that has intermittent clearings and tree cover. Every time I ran into the tree cover and lost signal strength on the satellites the current pace dropped even though I’m fairly sure I was keeping an even pace with the music I was listening to. The 205 has a “pace alert” function that can alert you to when you slow down. Not very useful when every time I ran into tree cover the alert would sound. I eventually had to turn the pace alerts off as it was too inaccurate to be of any use. The overall average pace seems to be accurate.

[Update Dec 2006: As I travel a lot the only comment I have here is when I start up the 205 in a "new" city it takes a long time to lock into the satellites. Subsequent startups are fast so there must be some initialization process that is skipped on subsequent runs. I have run in San Francisco without GPS issues so not sure why others are having problems. ]

Overall, if you are on the fence about a GPS training device (as I was) then jump down and join the rest of us that are reaping the significant benefits of owning one. And the 205 works really well so I highly recommend it!

Oh, the reason I did not get the 305/HRM combo is because I get heat rash from wearing an HRM.

Customer Reviews:

Easily the BEST Chapter in the series!5
You’ve probably already read the gaming reviews on this, so you know the stats: new Hero system, new items, new classes, no monthly fee, etc.

One of the most important new additions to the game series is the Hero system, where you can customize and have much greater control over your Heroes (upgraded henchmen). I tend to solo a lot, since I rarely have blocks of time or have the patience to deal with other players, so this lets me get an often more competent (you customize their skills) team together. The beauty of this latest Chapter is that it enhances all previous Chapters (Prophecies and Factions): you can use your Heroes in the prior Chapters. This backwards compatibility was quite the bonus to my prior investment, and rewarding loyal players is EXACTLY the right thing to do.

Every Chapter, ArenaNet has upgraded the graphics engine, and Nightfall continues that trend. I know, I know, gameplay > graphics, but this scores on both counts. Graphically, it has spoiled me for many other games, and the art direction and creativity is nothing short of astounding.

As for cons, it isn’t quite as casual gamer-friendly as some of the other titles out there, such as City of Heroes. You do need to learn about how skills work, and sometimes you get item drops (there is loot!) that you don’t know what to do with. However, if you know how to read, you can just look it up on the ‘net.

I’ve found this latest release to actually be their best one yet, and I’m still debating whether to recommend new players pick up Chapter One (Prophecies) for the storyline or this one for sheer features and streamlined gameply and story. They’ve truly learned from the previous two Chapters and incorporated the lessons into Nightfall.

A Fantastic Addition to the Guild Wars Universe4
This game, like its predecessors Guild Wars: Prophecies and Guild Wars: Factions, is designed for players who–

(1) Enjoy a great story and playing a part in that story
(2) Appreciate fine graphics, stunning landscapes, and strikingly rendered monsters and battle effects
(3) Enjoy small group/solo adventuring
(4) Enjoy strategizing, exploring, and questing
(5) Can sometimes play for long stretches at a time … but can often only play in smaller blocks of 30-60 minutes and still want to have fun and get stuff done
(6) Might have to pause mid-quest to do something else (wash dishes, go for a walk, take out the garbage, answer the phone…) and come back later (Guild Wars, I find, is much more “forgiving” for players who have lives, where World of Warcraft is not, since Guild Wars more or less “holds your place” if you are called away temporarily to do other things)

Nightfall adds new story content, new professions (the paragon [kind of a spear-wielding paladin] and the dervish [a whirling, spinning slice and dicer]), a bucketload of nifty innovations, and ABOVE ALL, HEROES. The heroes are customizable, controllable henchmen that add a whole new dimension to the game–not only to Nightfall but to the two previous editions of Guild Wars as well.

I have to say I am pleased and greatly impressed with Nightfall. I took a character or two over from the previous campaigns and nabbed a few heroes and now those characters are back playing through the Prophecies and Factions missions and quests with their Heroes. I love this!

NCSoft has, in effect, upped the ante and enriched and deepened the playability of ALL of their games at once, although I hasten to add that you must purchase Nightfall to access the new regions (i.e., the beautiful, African-themed Elona), the new missions, and–best of all–the new Heroes.

I have nearly completed the Nightfall campaign (with a dervish and a monk), and all I can say is that it’s been great fun. The Guild Wars series just continues to get better, richer, deeper, and more fun to play. Best of all, unlike that other online game behemoth (World of Warcraft), Guild Wars is very casual/solo player friendly, both time-wise and group-wise. You can complete virtually any quest or mission in this campaign ALONE (with henchmen), if that is your playing style. It is difficult to do (I *like* difficult, heh), but it can be done. I know this because that is how I have played all three Guild Wars campaigns.

People familiar with the first two campaigns and looking for something “totally new” will not find it here but that, in my opinion, is a good thing. Nightfall builds upon and enhances the successful gameplay formula established by Prophecies and Factions, retaining all of the aspects of previous campaigns that players appreciated and yet incorporating new bells and whistles that make the basic story-centered structure better and even more enjoyable.

Whether performing a wide variety of quests and killing countless hosts of monsters and enemies is “grinding” and “boring” or “great fun” really depends on your perspective, I suppose. I think it’s great fun. I just completed a quest in this campaign yesterday wherein you must help a herdsman get his cows to safe pasture past mobs of brigands. I found the assignment difficult, creative, and funny all at the same time, with the herd mooing and stampeding every which way and the brigands attacking in waves and cows dying all along the way. Now, that’s entertainment! And that was but one quest among … zillions.

In short, Nightfall is a solid and enjoyable addition to the fine Guild Wars series. I highly recommend it.

____________

[edit (11/14/07): The excellent Guild Wars series ends with its Eye of the North Expansion Pack. Guild Wars 2, a sort of "reinvention" of the game, is due out in 2009 [hopefully!].)

Casual Gaming Girl Prefers Guild Wars to World of Warcraft4
I abandoned WOW for Guild Wars.

When diving into the Guild Wars sage, I began with Nightfall. I recommend Nightfall to new Guild Wars players. Heros taught me about other classes and were always available when I needed help.

Although my Radeon 9200 video card was sufficient in WOW, it lags a little in GW. I like GW so much, I plan to upgrade when I can.

I was a casual WOW player in WOW for 6 months, only leveling to 48. After playing Guild Wars a few weeks, I gave up my WOW subscription. I have continued playing Guild Wars when I can and love it. Here’s why:

1) The missions (main quests) in Guild Wars taken while I level my characters impact the environment as a whole. I feel like what I’m doing is meaningful. And they begin as soon as a new character is made. The “Collect 10 bear pelts” type quests in WOW felt silly. Nothing in the WOW environment ever changes for more than a moment or two.

2) When I quest in GWs, I am not interupted by other players. Only my party members can chat with me, and they are involved on the same quests I am. In WOW, I was constantly interupted. Players begged, nagged, and sometimes made unneccessary negative comments. The chat was constant. I played on a PVP server so getting “ganked” or killed by powerful other players was a constant possibility and seemed to happen right when I was about to complete tasks. That was a drag.

3) I dreaded end game material in WOW and am excited about end gaming in Guild Wars. My husband did WOW end game instances for the minimum 15-20 hours a week necessary for his guild, and he was considered to be “casual.” Hello, I have a life. That’s too much for me. Plus it got really boring, he said. Instances in WOW are difficult, but they never change. Players must memorize what needs to be done and do exactly that. There’s little room for innovation or reason for it. Players do the same 4 – 12 hour instances over and over again for loot. It reminds me of hacking at a penata for candy. Once you get started, little thought is involved. In Guild Wars, end game is all about PVP. An innovative mind is an asset. There are lots of PVP games to choose from and groups are rated for how well they play together. I wouldn’t have to mindlessly click for hours for a possible good drop. I get to show how well I play and how well I adapt to changes. I can customize my character to do what’s best for my playing style and the situations I will be in. I feel motivated to study and practice so that I will play well. Guild Wars end game is a sport. WOW end game is an addiction.

4) The environment in Guild Wars is more realistic and beautiful.

5) Guild Wars has no monthly payments.

Guild Wars isn’t perfect. Waiting for loads when entering/leaving cities, having no auction house, and only having perfect Barbie and Ken – like characters to choose from are just some things I wish were different. But it’s my favorite and I love playing it.

I spent an afternoon and evening trying to install the downloaded purchase.
Communicated with CA Technicians (sounded as if they were in India)and after several attempts to solve the problem, the situation increasingly got worse. Since they removed the Chat portion for CA Tune-Up 2, I had to request for a refund over the phone. This refund was complicated also – it had to be done in two stages, because they send me and charged $10.00 for the CD backup version. I reminded them that I requested a full refund, and they complied. I had the feeling that the same group also worked with Earthlink. The same increasing troubles emerged with their Router Wireless connection, except that Earthlink did not refund me $109.00.

Man are these expensive or are they?5

They carry a high price tag but these shoes are worth every dime.
They mould to your foot like no other shoe I’ve ever had.
Have you ever had an old pair of shoes around and kept them depsite the fact they were all worn and tattered but they felt so good you didn’t want to part with them?

Well these shoes fell that good practically out of the box.
I bought them for hiking and I can do more miles with less discomfort than with ANY other pair of shoes I’ve ever had.
They will last long enough for you to think that these are the LEAST expensive shoes you’ve ever had.

Highly recommended.

Another great shoe from ECCO5
This is my third pair of ECCO shoes and I am again very satisfied. This style passes for a casual dress work shoe yet won’t look ridiculous if worn with a pair of jeans. Great for travel when you only want to pack one pair of shoes. In fact I slipped them on and headed for the airport.

Somehow Ecco manage to create a comfortable soft leather shoe that lasts.

Great Value5
This pair of shoes replaced a pair that I had been wearing for five years or so. They were comfortable, looked good enough for the intended purpose, and durable, so I really saw no reason to change. I expect the new pair to be of the same quality and to last as long. In my opinion, these shoes are a great value.

Customer Reviews:

Having Problems with Black Toner2
I ordered these replacements cartridges, after reviewing the seller comments, which were overall good. The price on the items was also good and they were delivered as promised. I had need to replace the Black toner, since that was depleted. This is the first time I change toner on the machine and it had worked great prior to that. After installing the toner as per instructions, I have been getting vertical bands of light black print, the color has not been affected. Of course I have not exchanged any of the color cartridges as of yet. I am not happy about that, especially when I have a relatively new machine. I don’t think its a hardware problem.

Good Value5
After looking around for toner carts for this CLP 310 and finding they were in the $75 EACH range, I came across this pack that was $75 for the whole lot!

Worried for a bit that they would be inferior, but when I plugged them in and have been using them for a while now, I’ll definitely be using this from now on!

Pretty good4
For the price, these are pretty good. I was worried about buying them from other reviews, but purchased them anyway, as to avoid paying over a hundred dollars for genuine cartridges. I have only used one of these (the cyan) so far. The quality of the toner seems to be just as good as the original. My only complaint is that is does cause the printer to make a knocking noise. The printer is not a quiet one already, so this just adds a little more noise… not that big of a deal. I believe it is worth the price, and will probably buy these again when needed!

They’re certainly patch cables.5
Yup… They connect my cable modem to my router, and my router to my computers. They transmit data back and forth. So far they have failed to burst into flames or snap off and poke me in the eye. So go patch cables (yay).

Great cable, the snagless feature saves the cord5
These Belkin category 5e cables are well made. They are a good overall gauge thickness and the snag less ends are very beneficial. You may have experienced the problem of untangling a phone cord, only to have the clip on the end bend over or worse yet snap off. The next time you use that cord it doesn’t have anything to keep it in the wall. Well what Belkin did with these snag less cables was put twin ridges made out of a rubbery plastic, that puts the snap in clip in a valley down below the ridges. So if you are untangling, those ridges prevent other wires from snagging the clip. That is a great idea. That is not enough to make you want to buy the cable, if it weren’t for the fact that it is overall a great cable. The seven-foot length is good for a small patch area, like when connecting your modem to a router, or when your cable or DSL modem and/or router are right next to your computer.
The other nice thing is the price here at Amazon on these cables. I went into the local nationally famous office supply, and they were half again as much money. So overall it is a very nice combination. They also don’t slow down your connection at all. I get the same exact connection speed when using the online speed tests when I use the 50-foot, or the 7-foot.
Highly recommended. Buy it here at Amazon and save the money.

Perfect!5
Nice gray molded patch cable works great if you’re computing close to where you’ll be hooked up to the network. I use this in my dorm, so I’m very close to the plug in. If you’re going to be farther away from the network plug in, get a longer cable. I’d definitely recommend Belkin cables to anyone!

Customer Reviews:

Excellent instruction and instructor5
I have never played drums but always wanted to learn. So I got a small digital drum set. I was not satisfied with the instruction video that came with it and decided to try “The Ultimate Beginner Series Drum Basics” with Sandy Gennaro instructing.

The instruction itself is clear, articulate, and each lesson builds on the next. But his professionalism and obvious passion for drumming shines through every moment and is a real inspiration. This guy has not an ounce of pretension or ego – he just REALLY loves to play the drums, is completely expert yet can easily relate to the beginner. In two weeks, I was able to play right along with everything he does in the example sessions. I also have never been able to understand how to read music for tempo and rhythm, but understood it easily when he explained it, and even understood the basics of how to read drum music!

I am a 49 year old women with no previous experience, so if I can do this I would bet that anyone can. We are all born with a sense of rhythm, and if you think you don’t have one you’re wrong. This guy will help you rediscover it. I am actually back online right now to see if I can find any other instructional DVDs he has done.

Great DVD for beginners5
I’m a new drummer and this is the first instructional DVD I’ve viewed. I found it quite informative; Sandy is a great teacher and, though rather informal, obviously has the knowledge of and passion for the drums. The format of the program appears to have covered the basics; I not only feel ‘drum-smarter’, but I was playing simple combinations along with Sandy in no time. I’ll be able to view it several more times and eventually learn the more complex moves he taught. I really enjoyed this DVD and am glad I bought it.

Awesome Video5
Listen, if you are a beginner drummer I think this video is fantastic. I never picked up a pair of sticks before and after watching this video, I was able to count and play with 3 different limbs. This gino from the NY know’s how to rock. He teachs posture, some technique but the mainly the fundamentals.

Customer Reviews:

Finally Found It!5
After purchasing 3 other coffee makers, the 4th one is the charm! This coffee maker makes great tasting coffee. I never knew there was a difference — it’s worth spending a few more dollars on. It also has all of the features I was looking for such as: adjustable warming plate, 1-4 cup selection, water filter, programmable. It is a rather tall machine, but certainly not a problem as it fits fine underneathe most cabinets. Als, the carafe is well-made and has a spout that pours nicely without spilling. No complaints about this one!

Cuisinart DCC-1200 easily trumps Krups 180-46 Aroma Control5
Two weeks ago, I needed a new coffee maker. The Krups Aroma Control maker is in all the stores and catalogs, so I bought one in the local mall BEFORE reading the Amazon reviews. BIG MISTAKE. Lesson learned – read the reviews – many negative comments. I used it for 3 days, and readily understood the description (…) of “eye candy” (looks nice, but seems like cheap plastic) and weak coffee (what they describe as a feature – allowing the coffee to steep – is really a euphemism for a poorly designed system that is guaranteed to give you a weak cup of coffee). One redeeming feature – the carafe is very nice.
Within 2 days of having the Krups, i was on Amazon looking for a replacement coffee maker (a good cup of coffee is critical in the morning!). I went out on the risk curve and ordered the new Cuisinart – no reviews yet. The Cuisinart has a more classic brewing system (water goes through grinds via gravity), yields a delicious cup of HOT coffee, has a variable temperature hot place, and looks and feels solid. We happen to have stainless steel appliances (refrigerator, freezer, stove), and it matches beautifully. Best news – excellent coffee!. I would highly recommend the Cuisinart.

Fantastic coffeemaker – if you have the space4
When my Braun FlavorSelect coffee maker unexpectedly stopped working, I had to scramble to find a new machine. I wanted another Braun, but unfortunately, they seem to have stopped making a 12 cup coffee maker. So I had to begin an intense search for a machine that had the features I wanted combined with good value. I finally found it with this Cuisinart model.

The advantages? For one, it makes excellent and HOT coffee. The carafe is solidly constructed and fits securely in square body so there’s no chance of someone accidentally knocking it loose. Because the lid fits tightly, the pour is precisely narrow and smooth, with no side leaks even when the pot is full. The basket fits inside the housing instead of swinging free like so many models which prevents a misalignment between the water and the filter; the conical (Krups/Braun style) basket accepts both paper filters and gold-tone, although I learned the hard way that not all gold filters fit. The timer is very easy to program, as is the clock. The carafe warmer can be set at low, medium, or high for the temperature that’s right for you. I found the “high” setting too hot since I drink my coffee black (I like my coffee hot but not scalding!), but those who add a lot of milk might appreciate it. The brewing is quick and efficient, with the process taking about a minute a cup, maybe less. The retro/stainless look complements most modern kitchen décors. There’s a 1-4 cup setting to make sure such small amounts stay hot, and you can select how long the warmer remains on. The pot beeps five times when brewing is complete and just before the warming plate shuts off. Parts are top rack dishwasher safe. It comes with a water filter system designed to improve the taste of the brew.

But the Cuisinart does have disadvantages. The water reservoir is located on the right side, in the back, which makes it a little challenging for lefties like me to dump the final bit of water inside even though the carafe pours very accurately. Although I haven’t yet missed the opening, I do struggle briefly with those last few drops unless I use my right hand. The housing is fairly tall, so if your counter space is only under the cabinets, you may not be able to lift the top in its entirety. (This is when the small rear reservoir becomes a major issue as you have to have room to completely lift the rather large top toward the back.) Clearance required: 7.5″ wide by 8.5″ deep of counter space with no overhead obstruction to pull out for filling OR 21.5″ of overhead space to fully lift top. Without the top open, the coffee maker measures 7.5″w x 8.5″d x 14.25″h.

If you have the space for this coffee maker, you’ll love it. I can’t attest to how long it will last, but, as it comes with a three year warranty, I’m hoping for a good run.

Amazon.com Review
Strikingly retro in brushed stainless-steel with black-plastic accents, this 12-cup coffeemaker includes Cuisinart’s best brewing technology and premium features for ease and flexibility. The digital clock/timer is programmable for automatically brewing “wake-up” coffee at a selected time and for turning off the warming plate up to four hours in advance. Removing the glass carafe from the warming plate automatically pauses the brewing process for a quick pour, and the warming plate’s temperature can be adjusted. For maximum flavor, the machine can be set to brew one to four 5-ounce cups or five to twelve cups, and it includes a charcoal water filter. For convenience, a permanent Gold Tone filter eliminates messy paper filters and an indicator-light shows when decalcification is needed. The coffeemaker measures 14-1/4 inches high, 8 inches wide, and 10-3/4 inches deep (including carafe handle) and carries a three-year warranty against defects. –Fred Brack
