The quality of this DVD is improbable. An 18 year musty Sophia was accurate and convincing in her “lip sync” of the sizable Renata Tebaldi. Her acting phenomenal. This is a worship.

This amazing fantasy account stars Johnny Depp as a not-quite-real teenager who was built by an eccentric inventor. The veteran man died before he could attain him, so Edward has knife blades where his fingers would be. A well-meaning Avon lady (Diane Wiest) finds him living alone in his crumbling castle, and brings him home to live with her family, which includes daughter Kim (Winona Ryder) . Edward is naive and skittish, but so sweet and trustworthy that he soon becomes the darling of the neighborhood. He is smitten with Kim, which angers her bully of a boyfriend (Anthony Michael Hall) .

Diane Wiest is perfect as the ditsy and always-cheerful mom. Ryder is convincing as a selfish and foul teen. Hall is the villian you like to abominate. The star, of course, is Johnny Depp. As Edward, he is painfully petrified and lovelorn; his performance is so heart-wrenchingly magnificent that you ache for him in every scene. Covered with white make-up and with only a few words of dialogue, Depp proves he is a very talented actor. The extraordinary and quite weak Vincent Stamp, as Edward’s loving creator, will surely bring a travel to your glance.
This completely novel film blends comedy, fantasy, and romance to obtain a sentimental fairy account that both teens and adults will delight in. It is a heart-breaker; bring your hankie.

Every director probably has one movie that he pours portion of himself into. For Spielberg, it was ET, Lucas had American Graffiti. Here, Tim Burton poured into the soul of Edward Scissorhands the world of an outsider, a creation of an former inventor (wonderfully played by Vincent Label) who passes on before he can execute Edward(wonderfully played by Johnny Depp) . Edward is one day discovered by Peg Boggs, a engaging Avon lady, who takes Edward home to suburbia, a community of multi-colored houses that could only arrive from the mind of Burton and production designer Bo Welch. Danny Elfman delivers probably his most keen fetch in this portray. The DVD looked like it would be incredile with what was announced, but it would have to lose starts for what I thought: 1) Audio commentary by Burton and Elfman: Both of these guys do not talk all the device through the film, (though it does sound a cramped better than Devlin and Emmerich on ID4’s DVD & Barry Levinson and Tommy LEe Jones on Men In Dim, who chatter on like inane movie theater patrons) . But most of the time I found myself wondering when they would deny again. Burton probably speaks 12-15 times through most of the movie, but it sounds more like he’s having small afterthoughts. Elfman’s audio plays after distinct music segments are done (his background music plays over the dialogue so we hear outright how it sounds) . 2) Tim Burton understanding art: after seeing The Tarzan Collector’s Edition, this was a letdown, with only about 7 pieces of art (5 concepts of Edward, 1 of the Inventor, and 1 of Edward’s spot in the mansion’s attic) . 3) The featurette talking about the film is also a letdown, as there is nothing that was reall well-known (I was really looking forward to hearing how Stan Winston Studios made the Scissorhands props) . The only wintry distinguished is the interactive menu, made like a pop-up book of the mansion Edward is found in. If you are looking to salvage a astronomical movie, procure this DVD. If you are into those that promise amazing extra features, pass this one up.

wow this was a surprise, i bought this to try and fetch befriend in shape and then not only did i come by in shape but i found an grand documentary on a boxer. this is a gigantic deal 2 movies for impress of one. I am being impartial i gape alot of documentaries and this is the best one on a boxer i have ever seen . u wont regret this select.
When guys plod into the club and say they want to box they are fine surprised when they get out they have to be in shape honest to hit the bag (19 out of 20 times they usually aren’t) . A lot of questions/statements you regain are: “I notion I was going to learn how to box? “, “Boxers don’t do this!”, “When am I going to fight someone!” etc. If you are one of these guys regain this video. THIS is what it takes to be a boxer, whether it be amatuer or pro. When you creep into a club and your wondering why the fighters are doing all these “extreme slide, high rush” exercises and not necessarily hitting a bag the whole time, fair remember this video.

Gurren Lagann, Pt. 3 Review
January 29th, 2010 by dottie8501648Compare Prices on Gurren Lagann, Pt. 3
Gurren Lagann is one of the best anime titles out there. It’s art style is what sets it apart from all the rest. This crazy hand drawn style (though I’m not entirely positive if it is hand drawn) may turn off some, but I personally dig it. I knew what to demand after buying Tiring, Leaves. This is a bit more tame (yarn wise) compared to Dumb Leaves, but detached off the chain none the less. The chronicle line is large. There is a petite over the top acting at times but that is kinda like the soul of this series. The whole freaking crew is over the top! And I cherish that about it!
This is the final two volumes packaged as Section 3. It was worth every dollar spent, and I highly recommend it!

Buy Mao-Chan Online.
January 22nd, 2010 by dottie8501648The world is at threat from aliens (OK, cute aliens) and the only people who can finish them are…three 8 year-olds?!
That’s the basic set-up to the ultra-cute series, Mao-Chan. From Ken Akamatsu, the mastermind late the wildly-popular Worship, Hina comes a stare at saving the world through the eyes of an 8 year veteran. In this first volume, we meet our three heroines Mao, who controls all Land-based operations, Misora, who is in charge of Air-based missons, and Sylvia, who mans all Sea-based missions. Together, the girls must conclude cute aliens from taking over Japan.
Now, when I first heard about this, I plan the series was very annoying (and very girly; pink is diffently not my color nor mood) . But after reading blooming reviews, I decided to give it a go.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Mao-Chan! Click Here
The first volumes has a total of 7 episodes, each about 12-15 minutes long, which is fair enough cuteness that won’t accomplish you puke. The animation glows with shiny and neutral colors that are challenging and add over-all character to this series. I listened to the English dub and was very jubilant. Pioneer/Geneon has always done a rather first-rate job with translations, so they procure an A in my book.
I gave this 4 stars because the voices for the English dub where rather soft and kinda high-pitched (then again, the main characters are 8 afterall) . Also, with so many Magical Girl series running amuck, it puts a shrimp strain on the over-all main characters. You also regain the standerd extras, like a creditless opening, bloopers and trailers. But if you can find past teh faults, then Mao-Chan is a appetizing romp through a world of cute kids (and aliens), non-violence and over-all fun!
(Disclaimer: I have never seen Treasure Hina.)
Watching this series makes me jubilant! The entire premise is based around cuteness — I’ve never heard the *characters* of an anime say the word “kawaii” so frequently (I watched this subbed) — but I don’t deem it’s cloying or excessive. The fact that there’s a determined military aspect to all of the magical girl action makes for some silly jokes that the normal elementary-school-aged viewing audience is likely to miss. The young characters are likable (the adults less so, though I judge Sylvie’s grandfather is dazzling droll) .
Buy,Download, Or Stream Mao-Chan! Click Here
Volume 1 contains some exquisite, speedily episodes and introduces the characters. The DVD itself doesn’t (iirc) have particularly enchanting extras, but the exhibit converse is sufficiently worth it.
If you abhor itsy-bitsy children and reflect they’re whiny, you’ll probably hate this, but try it if you can be pleased “the delight of viewing the world through a 2nd-grader’s eyes”, or cute things, or meta-humor about cute things, or cute things defending Japan from cute things, etc.

Buy Joe Versus the Volcano Blu-Ray
January 15th, 2010 by dottie8501648Compare Prices on Joe Versus the Volcano
The first time I watched this movie, shortly after its release, when I was a puny lad, something struck me as “different” about this movie. The direction was splendid, the spot was VERY simple, and the acting was fantastic, with plenty of comedic and ironic elements.
However after watching it again during my high school years, I remember picking out dozens of metaphorical and symbolic items from the position. Every snide or destructive force in Joe’s life is symbolized by the company logo that the film features at the beginning, good down to the lightning trip featured prominently later in the film. The fact that every woman famous to Joe is the same girl, the beautiful Meg Ryan, carries the theme of recurrence quite well.
To sum it up, Joe is an individual who has died, if not in reality, in spirit, stuck in a dead-end job after personal crises drove him to hypochondria. He discovers he is terminally ill, then is confronted by an eccentric millionare who wants Joe to sacrifice himself to a volcano on a dinky polynesian island to gather mining rights for his superconductor company. Joe proceeds to go on an endless stream of discovery, realizing that while he may be dying, he was never more alive. The recurring themes in this movie, such as the jagged line logo, Meg Ryan’s appearance, his luggage, and the bizarre but likeable characters he’s confronted with throughout design this movie seem more like a vision quest for Joe than the last few weeks of his life.

The position is simple, but hides deeper meanings and morals, like any mammoth fairy narrative. This is possibly the best movie I have ever seen, and very obedient of steal.
Now if they’d unprejudiced effect it on DVD.
Tom Hanks gives one of his best comedic performances here as Joe, a hypochondriac who’s led to hold he’s dying from a “Brain Cloud.” So he strikes a bargain in which he gives up his lifeless existence working for an artificial prosthesis factory with loud, buzzing flourescent lighting, to live a life of luxury for several weeks until he is forced to become a human sacrifice by hurling himself into a volcano to appease the gods of an island populated by orange soda drinking natives of a bizarrely amusing multi-ethnicity. Somehow it all pulls together.

Meg Ryan – whom I normally cannot tolerate – here is charming in three different roles.
The big Ossie Davis has a microscopic role as a chauffeur, and, charmer that he is, nearly walks off with the entire movie.

Me and You and Everyone We Know Streaming
January 8th, 2010 by dottie8501648Compare Prices on Me and You and Everyone We Know
Miranda July’s first film (she both wrote and directed) “Me and You and Everyone We Know” is a personal, thoughtful and humane film about how difficult it is for people to catch together in these tumultuous times in which we live…and despite all the obstacles, we collected manage to do so: Richard (John Hawkes, so great in HBO’s “Deadwood”) and Christine (Miranda July) meet “cute” while Christine is with a friend buying a pair of shoes and Richard is the shoe salesman.
Christine almost freaks Richard out.ok…she does freak him out after their initial meeting by “accidentally” always being where Richard is: Christine, in her eagerness to earn to know Richard, almost slips into stalker behavior. But this is more a tag of our times.i.e. how difficult it is to meet someone nice, July is saying rather than anything unnatural on Christine’s portion. And Richard is as lonely as Christine. And they do a bond. They manufacture a fence against all that can go nasty in the world: lying, cheating, not enough money, career problems…all the negative stuff that can clog your life as a whole and your adore life in particular. As Richard says early in the film: “I’m prepared for fabulous things to happen.” And so it does: in the do of Christine.

“Me and You and Everyone We Know” is as sunny, optimistic and loving as a film can be and you leave the theater actually feeling better than when you walked in. But this film is no Pollyanna: Your generous feelings near with a price: only after a obedient fight with the outrageous forces of the world. And in this case it isn’t Dim Vader, The Scarecrow or a pack of Zombies, it’s from the vagaries and detritus of the world in which we live: the stuff that lurks out there waiting to defeat you. But Richard and Christine, somehow, someway work as a couple as they never did as individuals…grand for them.
Finally! A movie that addresses on almost every age level, the effects of our novel internet daze age. For the young children, life consists of going home everyday after school to try and talk and chat and connect with cyber folks. For the teenagers, sex is misunderstood again and again, and the fantasy/reality jam continues to leave them feeling lonely. And for the adults, well…the problems are almost the same impartial with more complexities and ambiguities.”Me And You And Everyone We Know” should not work as well as it does. It takes so many risks that could’ve potentially ruined its hold subject matter and themes, but yet, Miranda July’s direction takes the sad (and seemingly ‘normal American life’) and turns it on its head with surprising and monstrous droll side effects. Thankfully though, July never sacrifices the humanity of her characters at the expense of merely getting a laugh. Throughout “Me And You And Everyone We Know,” there is a kind of subtle, pretty glum mood woven through the words and actions of every character. Again, considering how curious and unsettling at times the script is, this seems like a minor miracle. Exploring how the internet and cell phones and technology at gigantic has contributed to isolated individual experiences is fair one of the film’s many themes. Like the one very rich and very simple scene from the film conveys, me and you and everyone we know are like microscopic specs on pieces of paper with a petite, but seemingly infinite amount of spot between us.Although far from perfect and far from being a cinematic masterpiece, “Me And You” wins at the extinguish of the day because of the very well-liked area from which it begins. Throughout every quirky scene and heartbreaking moment, it remains accurate to its subjects (on both sides of the conceal) .

It may have to do with the fact that I watched this movie in the middle of the night, but I very noteworthy disagree with the previous review. There was a bit of predictablity to this movie, but it was unruffled very sweet and carried a stout message. It speaks the truth that honest because you have faith and follow God things will not always be easy, but in the midst of hardship there is comfort and a chance to obtain a disagreement. I found it to be uplifting and enjoyed it. I even recommended it to others.
I read the unique this film is based on years ago and I’ve never forgotten it. The movie stayed just to the novel’s themes and is a fabulous, uplifting epic that refutes the conception that poor things never happen to Christians. But it also shows how God can carry us through when tragedy happens and even expend our lives as an example and an encouragement to others. Very engaging and memorable, and a movie I wouldn’t be ashamed to recommend to family and friends of any age.

The batttle is cancled by leon, and is reschelded. He comes help later, and is caught, they tie him up. I was dissapointed to acquire out it was the modern theatrical version only.

If I had known that, I wouldn’t have purchased it. It’s tall have Waterworld on Bluray, it looks incredible,
but I would have rather waited for the extended version that I’m definite will reach out eventually. The movie companies always have to pick up a design to gain an extra buck at our expense by making us by the same movie twice.
