Not to be missed, this fills in the remaing gaps on what all happened _before_ Li arrived!

First up, in Episode 5, Sakura discovers that the Jump card has invaded a young shop owners wares! Worse, it pulls them altogether to get a..well..I don’t want to spoil it.

Next, the Illusion card is playing with kids minds in the woods, going so far as to try and off Sakura with an image of her unhurried mother! This one has a steady tearjerker ending, folks! (And this is coming from a 23 year old-fashioned male! My mom gave me detestable genes, I command!)

For the third ep., a young child is upset at an art museum for apparently altering a painting of him done by his father. Actually it’s fair been “occupied” by the Calm card, which really doesn’t like noise… Also, Li actually makes his first appearance in this episode, in a very brief cameo.

Finally, we have the Episode the Dub starts with, Li’s arrival at Sakura’s school and rather brusque expect for the cards unruffled so far, as well as the activities of the Teach card…

So once again, if you’re an addict, grab it! Bring on the third one!!

(What the? …why is Amazon.com mixing up the reviews with that Cardcaptors Dvd ‘Power match’ with the uncut(and very differnt) version of Cardcaptor sakura. Yes, they both are Cardcaptor sakura but ones the ‘Uncut version’ and the highly edited ‘Dub’ and they both acquire totally differnt episodes. Score it suitable Amazon!)

This is my review for the uncut version.(Five stars)

This contains episodes 5-9 of ‘Cardcaptor Sakura’

In these episodes she captures ‘Jump card’, ‘Illisuon card’, ‘Silent card’, and the ‘Thunder card’

All the episodes on here are astounding! My popular is the Quiet card episode, its comical when they are trying to be as still as they can, but they withhold going succor outside due to the Peaceful card. I also savor on how she captues it in the ruin!

It would be easier to be able to pick up my hands on all of the Cardcaptor Sakura DVDs if they where cheaper in stamp ($30 avrage notice(everywere) for each DVD with only 4 uncut episodes? That execrable! I can’t afford that!)

Even though the stamp is rediculous, its well worth it when you accept it!

Heres a review for ‘Cardcaptors: Power match’ (Two stars)

This is the version that has been drasicly edited for kids. This must be the most edited Anime in the US(even more edited than ‘Sailor moon’, and thats glorious dreadful…)
But they did such a extraordinary job at changeing it into something fresh! Now Tomido(Madison) is one of the ignoed charaters(in Japan they had a doll and one of the main charaters other than Sakura) as Meling(Melin) is now one of the Cardcaptors (SHE WAS NEVER A CARDCAPTOR IN THE FIRST Plot!!!!)
They totally changed everything(even the music/personaitys/episodes….)
I bet if you steal out the ‘today on Cardcaptors’, all of the flashbacks, commercals, and ‘the card we announce today’ you will have only 10 to 14 minutes of precise fotage of the right episode that has been dubbed(depending on how many flashback there is in an episode)

Thats why I gave it two stars.

It was a shock to stare an incomplete narrative… made complete via animation?!

The highlight of this narrative is the background history and what transpired to originate this ‘missing’ account into a released DVD dwelling.

The sixth season of the display (1968-1969) had a lot of scripts falling through. As a result, commissioned stories had to be stretched out longer. “The Invasion” is one such record. The grand news is, the gravitas of the character and performance of the actor (Kevin Stoney) playing Tobias Vaughn helps elevate this epic and keeps it spellbinding. The legend is essentially him vs the Doctor, with Tobias attempting to utilize the Cybermen to his serve while the Doctor enlists the back of a newly formed secret paramilitary organization that battles alien invaders; UNIT (United Nations Intelligence Taskforce) .

I would say episodes 6 and 7 do bound on a bit, but there are plenty of place pieces that re-awaken you at the good times.

As usual, sound and video for a program made in this time are sensational. And the extras and commentaries made by still-living cast and crew alone pay for this story; and then we earn the myth itself…

Here’s the rundown: In the 1970s, the BBC junked many programs from its archives. The Patrick Troughton era of “Doctor Who” was badly hit. As a result, most of his stories have been destroyed.

Fortunately, over the years, episodes are found in warehouses, returned to the BBC by countries who bought licenses to air the stale episodes during the 1960s and never junked the films themselves, or returned by collectors – who are far more philanthropic than many we’d otherwise give the title to.

Additionally, during the 1960s, home video recorders didn’t exist. (Another 12 years would pass before the technology became feasible… or celebrated.) So people recorded them onto audio tape, often by dangling a microphone in front of the TV situation.

As fragment of the restoration process (and having seen many VHS copies, some work had to be done), the kill result of episodes 2, 3, and 5-8 are expedient. And this is the first professionally released version of the epic where all the Cybermens’ dialogue can be heard distinctly, with elephantine clarity. The previous releases I’ve seen objective didn’t have the cleanup applied and the dissimilarity is PHENOMENAL.

But the icing is on the cake: Episodes 1 and 4 have been re-created via cleaning and amalgamating numerous audio tape sources, with animation applied. And the animation is spectacular. It doesn’t grasp any opportunities to go “over the top”, there is a edifying sense of the animators trying to be lawful to the fresh footage as possible (though some embellishments are inevitable; the master tapes and films nonexisting) . It’s very clever, grabs your attention, doesn’t seem at all shoehorned in, and the audio quality is spectacular. The extras go into the history of program junking, how audiotracks were recovered, and a well made fraction on how they were cleaned – I don’t want to spoil it here, but as with the main legend, there is not one fraction of extra that does NOT entertain or edify!

HIGHLY recommended.

I had the edifying fortune this week to conception the newly released DVD spot from BBC of the big Doctor Who adventure, The Invasion, with the two “missing” episodes enthralling by Cosgrove Hall – amd I’m pleased to record, it is astonishing! As many Who fans will have seen the (rather terrible quality) VHS of some years ago for this riveting sage, I’ll turn apt to the restored Episodes 1 and 4. How superb a job did the animators at Cosgrove Hall do? A very satisfactory job indeed. Turning to the inviting versions of the characters themselves, the portrayal of Zoe is amazingly faithful to Wendy Padbury’s new, with all of her subtle facial expressions and visual personality intact. And what a sparkling actress she is! The Jamie recreation, while certainly recognizable, is not quite as successful – he must have a more difficult face to render. As for the gigantic Patrick Troughton himself, well, for the most section the appealing version is a near-perfect recreation of my common of all the Doctors (or perhaps it’s a tie with Tom Baker) ; at some angles, though, particularly when the Doctor is looking upward, the engrossing character looks a bit like George Washington coping painfully with his wooden dentures. It’s moral. Minor quibbles aside, though, quite a gorgeous reconstruction of these missing episodes. Also safe are the moving alter egos of the supporting characters, including the villain Tobias Vaughn (but for some reason, without his slothful apt explore in the enthralling version, a physical trait that adds to the character’s menace) . The titillating action sequences are always ample, with a particularly convincing cow in Episode 1, staring in through the TARDIS window. Giving nothing away, the first few moments of Episode 1 involve a missle being fired at the just-reassembled TARDIS (Invasion followed Mind Robber in sequence), and this and the other special effects probably discover considerably better, less budget-constrained, than in the lost originals. As for monsters, there aren’t any in Episodes 1 and 4, until the last few moments of Episode 4, where they build a most dramatic appearance, not to be missed by any Who fan. What a perfectly incredible draw to recreate this masterpiece. I be pleased the telesnap-based recons a expansive deal, but clearly animation is the map to go with these missing episodes. A triumph! And if we’re very very lucky, this might be the harbinger of things to approach from BBC/Cosgrove Hall. The bulk of the Second Doctor’s episodes are “missing from the BBC archives,” and likely to remain so, barring the opening of some Middle Eastern film library or indignant collector’s shelves. These include some of the very finest, most well plotted and superbly acted stories in the entire series: Fury from the Deep, Macra Fright, Power of the Daleks, Sinister of the Daleks, the two Yeti stories, and distinguished more. Certain follow up projects would include the Tenth Planet, Ice Warriors, and Moonbase, which are reasonably conclude to being complete in the archives. Some of these stories, and particularly the monsters and other special effects, may actually encourage from being though-provoking – given the budgetary constraints imposed on Doctor Who in this early time period, the monsters aren’t always as convincing as they might be (fraction of the charm of the series, I glance) .

Reserve your come copy of this lost masterpiece today! Help this magnificent and thoroughly successful breakthrough. And join in the hope that The Invasion will signal a current era for Patrick Troughton, the greatest Doctor of all! (Now how about the First Doctor’s Marco Polo, or Dalek Master Belief . . .? )

As most potential viewers know, this film is based on diaries and letters to home written by Ernesto “Che” Guevara during a motorcycle and foot tour of a important fragment of South America during the early 1950s, years before Guevara achieved international renown as a Communist and Latino revolutionary. Thus, the film functions as an attempt to secure at the heart of the person who preceded the fable. The film is therefore difficult to mediate as pure cinema. Is this, on its have merits, a mountainous film? Or is it a spacious film about Che Guevara? Interestingly, the person I saw this film with knew absolutely nothing about the subject of the film before it started, and did not connect Ernesto Guevara with Che Guevara until very unhurried in the film. Her reaction was fascinating. Until she realized that it was about Che, she says that she considered it a decent but only slightly above average “road” relate, but it gained considerably in her estimation once she realized who the film was about. I judge she was accurate, and I would agree with those who feel that what merits the film has depends to some degree on who the film is about. If Ernesto hadn’t become Che, it would be a beneficial film but of considerably less interest than it is.

The film does a worthy job of rooting Che’s eventual exertion with the liberation of the oppressed by depicting his gargantuan and constant encounters with everyday people throughout the continent. Camus wrote that it was famous to side with the victims and not the executioners, and in his travels Ernesto spends most of his time with the victims. His near-epic exposure to the continent clearly condition his sympathies and enlighten his vision. At the raze of the film it is easy to understand why Che chose a life dedicated to aiding the oppressed in Cuba and elsewhere. The broad interrogate left unanswered, and the one reason one can collect Che’s life morally troubling, is why he felt that the causes he espoused demanded a violent, military response. Why follow in the steps of Trotsky and Lenin rather than Gandhi? Apart from a single line which merely hints that Che felt violence might be distinguished, the film doesn’t arrive anywhere cessation to answering this request.

In many ways, the star of the film is the South American continent. I have seen many films over the years dwelling in one corner of the continent or another, but none provided a panoramic notion. This film, however, by swinging through Argentina, Chile, Peru, Columbia, and Venezuela provides a graphic impression of the continent’s stout geographical diversity, expanse, and big exquisite. I don’t mediate it would be possible to seek this film without a deep accelerate to visit the land. The scene shot in Machu Picchu reveals the amazing beauty of the space better than anything else I have ever seen.

Gael Garcia Bernal is a remarkably magnificent, talented young actor, formerly best known for one of the two young men in Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN, and is outstanding in portraying the young Che Guevara. One suspects that his days as an actor in primarily Latin productions is discontinuance to an demolish, his next several projects originating in Hollywood. Rodrigo De la Serna does not have the grand charisma of Bernal, but he more than holds his occupy in the film. The cast is rounded out by a expansive roster of professional and amateur performers.

Che Guevara is such a controversial figure that this film could elicit a host of differing responses. How one will reply to this film will be deeply conditioned by how one views him. But I do contemplate that it is a film that virtually every viewer will acknowledge to with huge interest, and I defy anyone not to derive the noteworthy landscapes anything short of handsome.

When I visited South America on my hold extended move a couple of years ago, I was amazed how many times I saw pictures of Che Guevara everywhere I went….cafes, outdoor bulletin boards, art galleries, even department stores. Now I understand why. Having fair read his diary, I was greatly anticipating this film, and my interest only heightened when I started seeing the travelogue shots in the previews. I am blissful to characterize the film surpasses my expectations on almost every level. It is elegant – perceptively directed, beautifully photographed and wondrously acted by a cast headed by two charismatic actors who tap deep into the hearts and souls of their characters. Whereas the book is more observational, the movie provides a more engaging feeling in its portrait of a young man on the brink of his political awakening. It starts out somewhat deceptively as a droll buddy relate with the young Ernesto Guevara (pre-Che), a medical student, leaving his family and accompanying his seemingly more worldly pal Alberto Granado, a biochemist, on a weak 1939 Norton motorbike traversing South America from their native Buenos Aires to Caracas. It is clear what Alberto’s hormonally charged intentions are on this months-long trail, but at 23, Ernesto is at a more sensitive juncture in his life where his encounters and observations have a deeper impact on his ideology.

What I really like about the film is how it changes in tone and texture as the boys’ hunt for adventure evolves into life-changing experiences for both of them. The motorbike acts as a metaphor for this change, as it unsurprisingly breaks down forcing them to inaugurate their eyes to the poverty and tranquil struggle of the local people in each of the countries they visit. The epic winds through chilly Patagonia, the blistering Atacama Desert, the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu and several towns in between. But the most touching passage takes residence at the San Pablo leper colony in the Peruvian Amazon basin, where Ernesto bonds deeply with the lepers to the chagrin of the local nuns. His night swim across the Amazon, struggling for air through his asthma, is a great scene among many in this subtly potent film.

As he proved with his fabulous “Central Position”, director Walter Salles has an acute ability to connect his characters to their settings in deeply emotional ways. He is the ideal choice to guide this road movie. As Guevara, Gael Garcia Bernal transcends his Tiger Beat, teen heartthrob looks and delivers a deeply touching performance, as he grows from a great city innocent to a insecure young man ready to select on a greater cause than his medical career. He does an especially strong job in conveying his character’s unblinking honesty and displaying unexpected acts of rage and compassion. Unprejudiced as righteous is Rodrigo de la Serna in his feature film debut as Granado, effortlessly showing his character’s bravado and humor while finding his absorb bumpy blueprint in the world. His reactions to his buddy’s political declaration at the birthday party, and to his contain feelings during their goodbye at the waste, are among the most poignant moments in the movie. In fact, powerful of the film’s power comes from their palpable chemistry and unforced rapport. They are instantly and completely believable as best friends. And grand more than the book, the film builds a solid emotional bridge between the young innocent and the Communist revolutionary Guevara was to become. If you are not aware of his fate, it is briefly summarized in subtitles at the raze, and the coda with the loyal Granado is sharp. While this may be the most delicate portrayal of a Communist-in-the-making since Warren Beatty’s film about John Reed, “Reds”, don’t let that halt you from seeing this mesmerizing work. This is a wonderfully heartfelt film.

**ADDENDUM ABOUT THE DVD RELEASE POSTED ON FEBRUARY 18, 2005**

There are three extended deleted scenes included in the DVD package, none vital but level-headed distinguished for the additional context they provide to an essentially episodic movie. I particularly liked the sequence with the blind truck driver risking the lives of the two vagabonds as he swerves perilously on a treacherous mountain road. The obligatory making-of documentary is friendly, and includes comments from Salles, screenwriter Jose Rivera and executive producer Robert Redford. There are also a couple of brief Spanish-language TV interviews with Bernal and a rapidly interview with the film’s composer, Gustavo Santaolalla.

First of all… The movie is quite worthy, with gigantic performances from Robert Duval, Tom Flit, and Nicole Kidman. The film has spacious racing footage (with a few inconsistencies) and is all in all, a sterling movie… Now let’s talk about the DVD… This is one of the best sounding DVD’s that I’ve ever do in to my home theater! The sound in the 5.1 surround sound will absolutely have you looking around for the rush car!!!!! As “Cole Trickle” first gets in the car at the vacant raceway, test driving “Rowdy Burns’” car, you will absolutely be beside yourself!! The sound is unreal! You will worship this DVD objective for the fact of showing off your home theater to friends! The represent has a few flaws, but nothing too noticable! (mainly aspect ratio) That’s what gave it the 4 stars instead of 5. Purchase this DVD for your theater… You won’t be disappointed!!!

This is a spacious movie for any Nascar fan. Get obvious you totally disregard the “editorial review”

The first time I saw this movie, I absolutely hated it. The second time, I saw this “Unrated” gash, and suddenly I didn’t mind it so noteworthy. I fact I kind of liked it. Maybe that had something to do with the fact that James Cameron himself said that he liked it, and I was under the influence of reading that.

Buy,Download, Or Stream AVP – Alien Vs. Predator! Click Here

Alien Vs. Predator is a sequel to the first two Predator movies, and a prequel to the Alien series. As such, it sets up how the Company from the Alien films first became aware of the Xenomorphs. The Company is represented by Lance Henriksen, playing the founder of the Weyland-Yutani Company, who later builds the Bishop android in Aliens, also played by Lance Henriksen. We can prefer that the dude in Alien3, also played by Henriksen, is a generations-later relative of this character.

A lot of B-level actors have been selected for this film, most of whom I’d never seen before. Most notably is Ewen Bremner, the “other” Ewen from Trainspotting. While nobody in this cast (apart from Henriksen) is on a level with some of the supportors from the Alien or Predator series (such as Bill Duke, Jesse Ventura, Tom Skerrit, Bill Paxton, or Michael Beihn), none of them are that poor either. In fact they all have a sort of charisma, which is distinguished since you’re supposed to feel unpleasant when they inaugurate getting slaughtered.

Buy,Download, Or Stream AVP – Alien Vs. Predator! Click Here

The script is the weakest point of this film. Many fans have pointed out many inconsistencies with the Alien series. While a microscopic thinking can patch up most of these dwelling holes, some objective examine wide start no matter how remarkable duct tape you try to build over them.

The great two, which I can’t fathom an explanation for, are as follows. First, the life cycle of the Xenomorphs has been hurried so that they now burst out of your chest after what seems like minutes. Yet this is even contradicted later in the film, when a Predator gets infected with one! It takes him hours to burst out. Second, there appear to be more Xenomorphs in this film than there were human hosts. I don’t gather that. No explanations are attempted within the film.

Having said that, I assume this movie is easier to swallow than Predator 2 with its cheesy gang members, or Alien Resurrection with its astonishing cloning of Ellen Ripley and Queen.

Disc two is the actual like here. I watched the pre-production and post-production segments absolutely mesmerized. Paul Anderson is a charismatic director with a certain passion for Alien movies (the great ones) and he clearly worships the ground that Jim Cameron walks on. As he and his crew hobble us through the making of the movie, you really become infected with his enthusiasm. The fact that most of the movie was done with scale models with a minimun of CG unbiased makes is so worthy cooler. It’s mighty more fun watching guys blow up models than it is to inspect some guy do it on his Mac.

Initially I bought this movie simply to have a complete Alien and Predator collection. After watching this slash, and the bonus material, I was zigzag in. It’s not as awful as I made it out to be the first time. It’s a popcorn movie. While the unusual two Alien films and the first Predator film were more cerebral, I absorb Alien Vs. Predator to be better than the later films of those franchises. I enjoyed it, and maybe you will too.

I unprejudiced read a picture of an interview with director Paul W.S. Anderson (director of AVP) . He said quote “that all the best scenes were lop from the film.” He also said that the movie was always going to be R-rated until the studio enforced a PG-13 rating 3 WEEKS before releasing the film. In addition to the violence and gore nick from the film, a sub-plot that further explained the site was carve as well. If it had been in the film, the slice footage would have cleared up many continuity issues. For example, the sped up alien life cycle in this film is not a careless error at all; the machine that holds the alien queen captive also injects horomones and drugs in to her, speeding up the facehugger/chestburster process. The footage that was prick would have explained that and also would have given the characters more cloak time. Director Paul W.S. Anderson also mentioned that the explosion at the raze took up HALF of the 65 million dollar budget (which is ridiculously grievous for a film like this) .

So when you peruse this film and extinguish up hating it, dont blame the director. He made a film that, if it had been released in the recent slash, would have jubilant long time fans of the franchises. But instead, the studio made it PG-13 (so more people could scrutinize it) and gash out a lot of footage to develop the film plan too short (to fit in more screenings per day) .

BUT, the changes the studio made are helping. Currently the film is making A LOT of money, mostly because of the PG-13 rating. This means that the studio will be more likely to greenlight AVP 2 or, more importantly, ALIEN 5. But try to realize that if the film had been released in the unusual uncut version, it probably would’ve only made half the money the recent slit has because not as many people would have been able to peruse it.

Luckily, an R-rated Director’s slash WILL be released on DVD sometime in the future. This edition will up all the violence and gore to an R-rated level (all the off hide deaths will now be ON-screen as originally filmed) and add in an additional sub-plot that will sure up continuity issues, give the characters more veil time, and produce the dwelling development clearer. As a long time fan of the novel 6 R rated movies, I was Satisfied to hear this.

Unfortunately, movies aren’t made to be capable anymore. They’re made to beget money, and AVP is doing that apt now. So when you behold this film, know that you aren’t seeing the final version of the film. But PLEASE spy it because it needs all the money it can produce. And also, PLEASE retract the director’s chop DVD when it comes out because its gonna kick a**.

I had waited a long time, years, for a sequel to Highlander to advance it. Sitting in the theater with my friends rather than catching the season premier of Star Scamper as I remove, we could hardly wait for the expose to launch. The state was packed, and as the movie progressed, we all remained hopeful, despite the fact it was not kindly at all. Unfortunately the movie sunk deeper and deeper into a cesspool of humdrum area ideas, and stupider characters. Finally, as we endured the lines, “Remember Highlander, remember, the planet Zeist” someone in the audience started laughing, and soon the whole audience erupted in laughter, and from that point on, jokes were constantly made as everyone laughed at the film, so in the long hasten, I guess we had a trustworthy time, despite being subjected to what was quite possibly the WORST sequel ever to a stout movie.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Highlander 2! Click Here

Along with rewriting the new Highlander movie with the dead planet “Zeist” plan, it felt as if a couple hyper teens had arrive up with the position after staying up procedure too leisurely eating candy and drinking soda. I could imagine this conversation: Kid #1 “Wasn’t it icy when the Kirgan in Highlander stuck out his tongue to the nuns? ” Kid #2 replies “Yeah, that was awesome, why don’t we effect TWO characters who stick out their tongues all the time now! And even better, lets have them trip flying skateboards!” Kid #1 “Awesome dude! And remember how chilly and sunless Batman was? Lets spy if they want to sell us parts of their residence, and we can have it sad most of the time with steam rising and everything” Kid #2 “Rock on!”

I could go on and on, but what’s the point? This movie stunk, the dwelling stunk, the characters stunk, and the scenery stunk, but the fact that it was the sequel to such a Stout movie makes it even more disappointing.

My what a confusing film this is! What happened to the understanding of the valliant poet warrior introduced in ‘Highlander’ and why, or better build how has Ramirez returned, head intact? Even worse, what’s all this silliness about the alien nature of the Immortals and their home planet Ziest? ABSURD! (I haven’t even mentioned that the current film didn’t leave an opening for a sequel. MacLeod was the last Immortal left and the prophecy was fulfilled. Well, so noteworthy for spot accuracy) .

There’s an valuable lesson to be learned here. That lesson being that in the topsy turvy realm of Highlander sequels don’t demand any consistency in storyline from one film to the next, The more you try and compose sense of things the less you’ll bask in the movie. Unprejudiced be overjoyed that Christopher Lambert agreed to reprise his role as Connor MacLeod and be done with it. (Riddle: When is a sequel not really a sequel? Answer: When it’s a Highlander movie) .

If you don’t care for Hammer dismay, perhaps Hammer noir will please you.

Schemes that eventually backfire and send the noir characters to their doom or reach doom is the unrelenting charm of these exiguous British crime thrillers from the fifties.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Hammer Film Noir Collector’s Set! Click Here

Vci Video has now released 6 of these British noirs in an impressive location of 3 DVDs. The collection includes the following films with their catchy B-movie titles: Dreadful BLONDE (1953) ; MAN BAIT (1952) ; STOLEN FACE (1952) ; BLACKOUT (1954) ; GAMBLER AND THE LADY (1952) ; and HEAT WAVE (1954) .

Of course, black-and-white low-keyed cinematography underscores the shadow-friendly environment in all of these changeable films.

The always nervous Dane Clark is here twice (in two films), cooking up something. Diana Dors, Barbara Payton, Lizabeth Scott, Naomi Chance, Belinda Lee, and Hillary Brooke; all these blond ladies become fatally lovely again. And besides Dane Clark, there are also George Brent, Paul Henreid, Alex Nicol, and Tony Wright in the lineup of plunge guys.

These well-made improper budget films received second feature billing, below the main attraction in American movie theaters throughout the fifties, and were released here in the US by Lippert Pictures. Ironically, those second features on the lower half of double bills, very often turned out to be great more sharp (and inventively done) than were the higher-budget presentations that overshadowed them. By the plot, I am also enchanted by the strikingly stunning poster art of the noir titles decorating the double feature volumes in the Hammer noir collector’s location. Lippert Pictures often achieve out the most magnificently sparkling (and sometimes delightfully gaudy) posters to entice the movie going public. Some of this movie paper is now powerful in seek information from by collectors, and is hard to earn.

Visual melodramatics lend spacious strength and noteworthy flavor to the scheming and black action in every one of the films in the status. Some visually dramatic displays, however, are absolute knockouts. Effect, especially, GAMBLER AND THE LADY’s wonderfully bizarre, over-the-top ending (dreadful Dane Clark!) .

We finally have the opportunity to delight in and acquire these long neglected and mostly forgotten Hammer/Lippert noirs in very edifying condition. I really do consider this is paradise in low-key dusky and white. What more could one ask?!

Without hesitation, 5 stars to this colossal state at such a bargain designate to boot!

The selection of movies is Incredible! Only The Stolen Face has been previously released in the UK. I could not conclude watching them. We should be greatful to VCI for bringing these titles out of obscurity. Hopefully, they will continue this trend in the future. I have only one complaint – presentation and packaging. Frankly, I was quite stupefied when I opened the case which was quite thick. I opinion there would be three individually packaged DVDs inside the case with immense poster art as has been shown on the hide pages of the individual releases. Unfortunately, once I opened the case, I saw the three DVDs stacked together on one spindle. The DVDs were not individually packaged and there was absolutely no poster art except the one on the conceal page. VCI did a titanic job of presenting these ample titles to us and I wish they establish a cramped more care towards the presentation and packaging.

Aesthetically, the best Rankin/Bass “Animagic” flick of them all. Well worth watching, if for no other reason, impartial too leer the extraordinary in-the-round Furious MAGAZINE-like caricatures of the entire array of classic monsters. Those of us who grew up in the 1960s and 1970s fondly remember seeing this classic on TV a few times around Halloween. And now, thanks to the chilly folks at Anchor Bay, we can nostalgically relive that childhood experience over and over again–in more intelligent color and with crisper images than ever before, as the DVD was digitally remastered (for the first time ever for home video) from a rare fresh 35mm print!

Unlike their other Christmas and Easter productions, this one-and-only Halloween flick from the Rankin/Bass team is not overly saccharin or maudlin. Not only did Enraged MAGAZINE’s Harvey Kurtzman and Jack Davis have their hands in the writing and the visual artistry, but the master of macabre himself, Boris Karloff, voiced the enchanting puppet version of himself as Baron Frankenstein! So you know that, like all Rankin/Bass works, it’s a wholesome family movie, but you can also be definite that there is lots of funeral-parlor and gallows humor–and even a few scary moments.

If you savor claymation-type animation, you’ll devour watching this film. If you laugh at the comedy of flicks like ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN, you’ll guffaw endlessly during this movie. And if you care for to see and come by the faded classic monster movies, the DVD version of Wrathful MONSTER PARTY? is a must-own.

I was thrilled to arrive across this newly repackaged DVD version of “Enraged Monster Party” – thank you, Anchor Bay!

Like other reviewers, MMP was a staple of my early TV viewing years. KTTV in Los Angeles traditional to display this program every year, around Columbus Day (I believe), and it snappy became a holiday tradition. Then, and now, I don’t deem MMP ever got the respect it richly deserved. It dropped from the airwaves sometime in the unhurried 60’s.

This newly re-mastered DVD has captured the film in all it’s shiny richness. The sound is what you’d inquire, (Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono), but on my home theater it peaceful looked and sounded big. And there were a few more surprises.

For example, I was surprised to gain that the film is 95 minutes long – I guess it’s a product of looking wait on through 30+ years, but I hadn’t realized that this was intended to be a corpulent featured theatrical release, competing with Disney’s total dominance of the youth and family film market in the early 60’s. I’d fair assumed that this was a made-for-TV production, ala “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.”

For reasons not fully explained, when the film was released it was restricted to matinee showings and never had the wide audience distribution and success it could have achieved. Consequently, it didn’t realize its’ plump potential and was soon in television distribution.

The history of MMP’s ups and downs is documented in an accompanying, richly illustrated, 24 page booklet, “Furious Monster Party: The Complete History of the Classic Rankin/Bass Theatrical Release.” This is a valid gem with interviews, gradual the scene photos, and production art. This could easily have been turned into a really slick video extra for the DVD status, but even in this “hard-copy” beget it’s very titillating and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Also included are a plot of postcard sized “lobby cards” with studies of the main characters: The Monster’s Mate, Dracula, Fang, Uncle Boris, Nephew Felix, Yetch, and (of course) the over-the-top-sexy Francesca. (Is it objective me, or does Francesca watch like she could have been Jessica Rabbit’s mother? ) Maybe for copyright reasons (I’m objective guessing here) Frankenstein’s Monster is called “Fang” and King Kong is “It.”

The animation is very worthy a child of the 60’s from it’s James Bond like opening theme to the red-wigged skeleton band. My 10-year-old idea the wigs meant that this was an all-girl group! I tried (unsuccessfully) to interpret the significance of the mop-topped groups of the British rock invasion and she looked at me as though I was making it all up. But you and I know the truth and can nod knowingly at the corny musical numbers and strangely stilted dance moves of monsters trying too hard to be “groovy.”

A truly substantial blast from the past, this DVD must be in any serious Halloween fan’s collection, particularly if you have children or grandchildren who’ve never seen this holiday treat before – even my jaded Generation Y teens got a kick out of it. I give it five stars and highly recommend it.

Linda Ronstadt’s astounding tribute to the music of her father finally comes to DVD. Not only is the prove visually dazzling; but her thunder couldn’t be more fair. And the dancing and the sets and Danny Valdez!!! I saw the tour live years ago and am very impressed how well the indicate has been captured on film. You have never seen a exhibit like this before!

In reading reviews about Linda Ronstadt’s work I am always surprised when people try to lock her into one era or style. Nowadays when its said a recording artist has reinvented themself.. it usually means they have colored their hair or changed their clothing.

With Linda Ronstadt you hear not only her talent but her attention to style and detail. Her phrasing and delivery are so authentic you would judge she was from another time or region. What an intellectual and inviting musical career this woman has had (and has)!!! Her talent and continuous commitment to craft inspires and humbles the rest.

This presentation was done in a manner so as to educate the viewer as well as bring tears of joy to older people who lived in that musical tradition in Mexico. The vibrant color worn in the costumes were as attractive as they were suitable. Senora Linda does a very admirable job with each number she performs, the supporting cast of musicians and dancers are splendid. After many years of enjoying Linda’s pop/rock music it is amazing to have her advance aid to her roots and culture, bringing others with her to fraction in the discoveries of such a rich culture showing all the passion, emotion, and respect that are contained in, “Las Canciones de mi Padre.” For my father too was a musician in faded Mexico in the 1920’s. Muy Bien Hecho, Senora Linda.
